about this blog

  1. Obsessively blogging about pop music, pop videos, pop stars, and pop culture from inside the MTV headquarters in Times Square. We also have a slight Jonas Brothers problem. And a little fixation with Tokio Hotel.

OMT! Bella! Edward! Jacob! Err... I mean... Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner, respectively, will all be presenting at the 2008 VMAs on Sunday, September 7 in Hollywood.

Now I'm more of a Jacob girl myself (and here's why), so I won't even touch the whole "anyone but him" anti-Robert Pattinson thing. Instead I'm committed to finishing Eclipse. (I'm picking up Breaking Dawn tonight from the bookstore where I dorkily reserved it -- though I guess that's not as dorky as the fact that I bought New Moon the day it came out, even though I was on vacation -- and I damn well aim to finish it on the plane out to L.A. this Tuesday.)

But I digress... The MTV Movies Blog does an Oscar-worthy (or at least Webby!) of covering all things Twilight, but from a musical perspective, I must say that one of my favorite things about author Stephenie Meyer and the pop culture phenomenon she's created is that she's completely into modern pop-rock and alt-rock, and indie.

On her Website, she includes a playlist of songs that inspired her through each novel of her vampire series. And she's even into Jack's Mannequin and very much into My Chemical Romance, Interpol, and Muse, which only results in me adoring her even more.

Anyway, won't you please refer back to the MTV Movies Blog for all of their amazing Twilight material, and then, to celebrate Bella, Edward, and Jacob's bewitching presence at the 2008 VMAs, check out my own personal Stephenie Meyer-sanctioned video from each book.

Life aboard Armor For Sleep's tour bus isn't all fun and Halo and chunky coffee. In their fourth and final tour diary video, the guys discuss the serious accident that caused more than a just a few bumps and bruises.

Check out Part 1 and Part 2 and Part 3 in case you missed them.

So far, Armor For Sleep explained the concept of touring through "fun space," and they gave you a private tour of "Swan Lake" and its environs.

On this week's video tour diary, they're making a pit stop to fuel up... on chunky coffee. Down a cup of the tastiest, classiest gas station coffee money can buy, and watch Armor For Sleep's new video, "Hold the Door."

Last week Armor For Sleep invited you on tour with them. And this week, they're inviting you onto their actual tour bus. Step inside the car wash, see where they play Halo, and find out why they call their hotel on wheels "Swan Lake."

Watch Part 1 if you missed it, and stay tuned for more exclusive video tour diaries from Armor For Sleep.

When Jersey post-hardcore/emo outfit Armor For Sleep -- known for their dreamy emo (dreamo?) soundscapes -- hit the road this past fall in support of their latest album, Smile For Them (Sire), they sent us some tour bus love letters. "Smile for the camera," boys!

Check out the first of their video diaries and their hilarious "Williamsburg" video below. And watch their "MTV.com Live" performances here.

PS: One of our MTV photo editors took Nash to her senior prom. We asked for dirt but she swore she'd get punched if she revealed the goods. Boo!

You guys were so intense about Cobra Starship's recent Artist of the Week stint that y'all nearly started a freaking comment jihad. To the point where we were almost a little scared at times. Seriously, we've seen people get less emotional over their family dog getting hit by a car. We envisioned lots of beating of chests and rending of clothing on your part. So we're just gonna post these clips of Gabe Saporta on MTV2's "Saturday Rock the Deuce" quietly and quickly and then back away slowly with our hands up.

(More clips after the jump.)

Now that Armor For Sleep has penned the song "Williamsburg" about the uber-trendy Brooklyn neighborhood, will hordes of disenchanted hipsters flee the area for fear that their 'hood has jumped the shark? Where, oh where will they go?

The video for "Williamsburg" is a tongue-in-cheek tutorial on how to dress like a bona fide hipster. Even if it was conceived by a group of guys from nearby New Jersey who are not exactly stylishly un-hip themselves, we have to admit that it's pretty darn accurate … right down to the skinny jeans, Converse sneakers and Elvis glasses. But despite singing that Williamsburg is "the blueprint for hell," today the band told TRL host Damien that the song is just a "lighthearted" lesson about anyone that keeps you down or holds you back.

Check out the video and tell us what you think … is Armor For Sleep giving life-saving life lessons or are they hipster haters?
