Yesterday along with his favorite word, "SWAG," Justin Bieber tweeted a pic of himself chilling with Jay-Z, Kanye West, Aziz Ansari, Kid Cudi, Tyler, The Creator and a lady we can't seem to place (help us out?). We don't really know where this was taken or why the hell the time stamp is from the '80s, but HOLY SMOKES, HOW DO ALL OF THESE PEOPLE KNOW EACH OTHER?!?!?
Some key things to point out moving from left to right: Even while wearing his controversial "Occupy All Streets" T-shirt, Jay-Z just doesn't give an eff about nothin', once again proving he's the ultimate boss. (Is he chewing on a toothpick?) Next, we've got that mystery chick who, in addition to looking like she's probably pretty in real life, is RECEIVING A KISS ON THE CHEEK FROM KANYE WEST. Aziz Ansari is making his usual "I'M HILARIOUS!" face while the Biebs, decked in a leopard print baseball jacket, is sporting the quietly smug "Yo, check out who my dope friends are" look. Kid Cudi's got the "I'm a cool rapper" hand gesture down, while Tyler, The Creator looks like he was just put in time-out. (Real quick, does this remind anyone else of "Friends"?)
Though we have no clue why or where this photo was taken, I will state for the record that it is my ultimate dream Christmas card (with me Photoshopped in, of course). I'd like to print a small batch of 100 to send to my nearest and dearest friends. Text me if that's cool, Biebs.
*UPDATE*: We've identified the mystery lady as "Parks and Recreation" actress Rashida Jones. We were right: totally pretty in real life.

For me, music is a very emotional thing. Sometimes it makes you cry. (Hats off to you, Mumford And Sons.) Other times it makes you want to break s***. (I can't tell you how many times I've blasted The Bronx in my apartment, started a one-person circle pit and accidentally knocked over a ficus.)
Or it can induce a major case of the ha-has. In the last couple weeks, I've put away the weepy ballads and angst anthems in favor of more lighthearted fair. Enough with the tears and shadowboxing. It's time to start LOLing.
I can't seem to get enough "laugh rock" these days, and thankfully I've got Garfunkel And Oates, Bo Burnham, Flight Of The Conchords and The Lonely Island to tickle my funny bone — and a couple other body parts. (Kidding! Sorta.)
Finally, if you'd like to keep up with all my musings, please visit my website and follow me on Twitter (@redpatterndress).

1. Garfunkel And Oates' "Pregnant Women Are Smug": In the past couple of years, it seems like all of my gal pals have either gotten: a.) engaged, b.) married or c.) pregnant. I'm totally happy for their newfound domestic bliss, but the addition of husband and child have definitely changed the dynamics of our bestiehood. This song by Garfunkel And Oates (aka Riki Lindhome and Kake Miccuci) perfectly sums up the sentiment — all with humor and a heaping helping of snark. I first discovered these funny ladies when they opened for Charlyne Yi at the Upright Citizen's Brigade in Los Angeles, and I've been humming their parodies ever since. If you like this tune, I highly recommend you pick up their latest album, All Over Your Face.
Listen to "Pregnant Women Are Smug"
2. Bo Burnham's "Words, Words, Words": Saying that I kinda love puns is like saying Nicki Minaj kinda like wigs, and there's no other comedian musician that masters the art of the double meaning than Bo Burnham. At the tender age of 20, Burnham is already a comedy veteran, having toured around the world, appeared on "Comedy Central Presents" and signed a multi-album deal with Comedy Central Records. Plus, he's not so hard on the eyes, either. What can I say? I'm a sucker for a boy with floppy hair, a razor-sharp wit and the retro know-how to name-drop a character like Helga Pataki from "Hey Arnold!" into his rhymes.
Listen to "Words, Words, Words"
3. Flight Of The Conchords' "The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)": All a girl ever wants to hear is that she's the most beautiful girl in the room, especially if it's a crowded room, and especially if it's being said by two hilarious dudes from New Zealand. Enter Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. America first met the duo when "Flight Of The Conchords" debuted on HBO in 2007. The series followed the guys struggling to achieve novelty music stardom on the mean streets of New York City. Featuring appearances by fellow funny people like Kristen Schaal, Eugene Mirman and Aziz Ansari, "Flight Of The Conchords" only ran for two seasons but the band left behind a couple of records containing all of the non-hits from the series. I used to set my alarm to this song every morning, and there's nothing like starting the day with someone serenading you with, "And when you're on the street/Depending on the street/I bet you are definitely in the top three good-looking girls on the street/Depending on the street." It's no coincidence that I try and walk down streets with mostly ugly people.
Listen to "The Most Beautiful Girl (In The Room)"
4. The Lonely Island's "Dreamgirl (Feat. Norah Jones)": When I first saw Norah Jonas on the credits for The Lonely Island's debut album Incredibad, I was skeptical. But then I listened to "Dreamgirl," which is an off-kilter ode to a heavenly lady with a whole lotta problems (i.e. nose like a rhinoceros, skin like asphalt, etc.). It was only when I heard Miss "Don't Know Why" belt out the following lines that I changed my tune: "Last week thought I saw you on the street/Turns out it was a bag of trash/Just a big ol' bag of trash/I thought you looked like a bag of trash." Norah, I'm sorry I ever doubted you. I should've known better. Turns out jazz musicians can be funny, too. I wonder if she took lessons from Josh Groban.

'Sup, Jay.
Your surprise appearance at the Adult Swim Upfront party last night at NYC's Roseland Ballroom sure turned a lot of heads. C'mon. A star of your caliber performing for the nerd elite--including comedians Aziz Ansari, Paul Scheer, Tim & Eric and perennial cool guy Seth Green -- is definitely newsworthy. Maybe you don't know that. Maybe you just show up to places forgetting you're one of the biggest stars in the world. Yes, Tim & Eric are marquee-worthy in their own right, but when Jay-Z shows up, that soiree immediately turns into PARTY OF THE YEAR.
Jigga's doing awesome right now with his Kayne West collaboration, Watch The Throne, already garnering high praise from Swizz Beatz. (The album doesn't have a set release date, but fans can probably expect it later this year.) Plus, the rapper's better half isn't doing so shabby, either. Beyonce's video for "Girls" dropped a couple days back and is p-h-e-n-o-m-e-n-a-l.
Who knows where Jay will turn up next? We hope it's at a bar or bat mitzvah. That would be dope.

Maroon 5 makes sexy music for sexy people. So it stands to reason that at the band's own record-release party, the young, rich and fabulous would be out in full effect. Folks like Aziz Ansari, Whitney Port, Paz de la Huerta (of the new show "Boardwalk Empire") and others were on hand at the Standard Hotel in New York to celebrate Maroon 5's Hands All Over.
The most obviously vocal proponent of Maroon 5's newest slab of sultry funk-pop was Ne-Yo, who made sure to give the ol' Roger Ebert thumbs-up when the camera spotted him with Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
Hands All Over came out yesterday, Sept. 21. As a treat for all you fans, check out the band's live performance of their hit "This Love" below.

Everyone's seen The Meat Dress photos. But there's still plenty you didn't see at the 2010 MTV VMAs. And here are 12 photos of the VMA moments you may have missed but need to see.

Wondering what Jared and Shannon Leto did with the Moonman 30 Seconds to Mars won for Best Rock Video? They polished it on Chris Pontius' crotch. As one does.

Jared Leto was afraid of getting his eye poked out by one of Lady Gaga's fearsome spikes, but he didn't want to be rude and decline her generous offer for tea.
But when Gaga offered Drake a bite of her meat purse, he graciously accepted. Fancy!

HOW was more not made of Gucci Mane's ice cream chain?? HOW, DAMN IT? It deserves its own VMA.

It's almost as if the Moonman is like, "Hey wait, Mike 'The Situation.' America has SEEN ENOUGH OF YOUR ABS." Spare us this ONCE! Alas, it was not to be. America saw EVEN MORE of The Situation's abs.

Who did this to you, Will.i.am? WHO?

Even at a VMA afterparty, it's always important to leave room for some Vitamin C. Nicely done, Waka Flocka Flame!

+ UPDATE: Tweeting the phone number of a guy who hacks your friend? ULTIMATE bad-ass move!
We all know and love Justin Bieber for his songs and sounds of innocence, his inimitable mop-top hair and his spry dance moves (as seen above). But did you know that Bieber is also a licensed distributor of IRL LOLs and badass moves? (Unsurprising given his penchant for Chuck Norris.)
It's true! Part of what makes Justin Bieber such a charming personality is his ability to not take anything, least of all himself, too seriously. This was in fine display when he gamely took a water bottle to the head while performing in concert. Rather than cry about it, he simply said, dryly, "That didn't feel good," and then kept it moving.
So, in honor of his fine sense of humor, ability to quickly flee packs of unruly fans and stand up to authority, here are five of Justin Bieber's most bad-ass moments.
1.) Segway Escape: Justin is often mobbed by his very passionate fans. When it happened in Glendale, Arizona, earlier this year, Justin thought of a pretty hilarious way to escape them. SEGWAY! Punch it!
2.) Walking Into Glass Doors: A couple of months back, Justin set the internet into fits of laughter by walking into a revolving glass door. Who among us hasn't done that, right? Well, when you're Justin Bieber, everything is magnified times 100. But rather than get angry or pretend he meant to do it, Bieber, likely on purpose, repeated the stunt.
2.) Your Kung Fu Is Strong: When asked to submit a celebrity playlist, Justin Bieber took the opportunity to pay homage to his beloved kung fu movies and their suspect dubbing. Even better, he promoted his own video! NICE MOVES!
4.) Free Scooter: After the whole "Justin Bieber concert causes mall riot" brouhaha, Justin Bieber made his first foray into political humor, donning a "Free Scooter" T-shirt in solidarity with his arrested manager, Scooter Braun, who'd taken the fall for the Roosevelt Field Mall gig that never came to fruition. Standing up to the law? Now THAT'S keepin' it GANGSTA!
5.) Raaaaaaaandy: Sometimes the mere thought of Justin Bieber is funny. Event though he, personally, does not make an appearance in this rather NSFW Aziz Ansari sketch, the character "Justin Bieber" does, popping a cap in Ansari's "Raaaandy" character, and stealing the demo for "Baby."

Kanye West's Twitter account has become something of a cottage industry, and we couldn't be happier about it. In the week since Kanye popped up on Twitter, tweeting about goblets and Swedish girls and Persian rugs with cherubs on them, we've seen Aziz Ansari start the trending topic #PredictingKanyeTweets, watched in awe as @budgetkanyewest changed the game with his/its low-rent Kanye tweets ("just got off the subway!! PICTURES SOON!") and were left speechless when some genius matched Kanye's tweets to "New Yorker" cartoons.
We're hoping this trend of Kanye parodies continues, possibly forever. So to help keep the Kanye Twitter ball rolling, we've come up with a few tweets we'd like to see Kanye West send and the days and events to which they correspond.
1.) Friday, August 6: Kanye finally sees the 2010 MTV VMA nominations and realizes that Beyoncé (via Lady Gaga's "Telephone") and Taylor Swift are both nominated for Best Female Video: "I get the distinct impression that I am being baited!"

2.) Sunday, September 12, at the MTV VMAs: IF Ke$ha wins Best Female Video for "TiK ToK": "I'm not mad ... I'm just ... disappointed."

3.) October 12: The day Kanye's fifth album is released: "Just bought Damien Hirst. And George Condo. The actual people. Bought 'em. And Bombardier, makers of the LearJet. lol"

4.) November 25: On Thanksgiving Day, we foresee Kanye giving thanks by tweeting "I just ate a turkey stuffed with a lobster and the lobster was rocking a Audemars Piguet watch! I love America!"

5.) December 25: Predictable Christmas Day tweet from Kanye = "this day is always kind of a letdown, since every day is like Christmas for me ... LOL?"

In his Academy Award-winning film "The Hurt Locker," Jeremy Renner plays Sgt. William James, a brash, brave bomb technician living on the edge in war-torn Iraq.
As he learns in "The Hurt Locker," bombs are pretty volatile. But nothing compares to the volatility of a disrespected Justin Bieber. And that's exactly what he has on his hands in this new promo for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards.
The clip features Renner, Bieber and the upcoming show's host, Aziz Ansari. The "Baby" singer and Ansari are enjoying a live and in-person rendition of "The Hurt Locker." But when Renner becomes distracted by Bieber's chip-chomping, all hell breaks loose.
Check out the promo below. And watch the 2010 MTV Movie Awards on June 6 at 9/8c!

As anyone who has ears or steals Wi-Fi already knows, comedian Aziz Ansari will be hosting this year's MTV Movie Awards. The show will air live from the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California, on June 6, so mark it on your calendar. You also might want to start doing some ab exercises because Aziz is sure to split your sides in two. His shizzz is that funny.
Don't believe us? Watch some of the comedic gems Aziz has dispensed over the years. Here are a few of our funny favorites. (Some videos contain NSFW wordies! Consider yourself warned!)
1.) Aziz's Obsession With M.I.A.: Before Aziz hit it big on "Parks and Recreation," he was just another struggling NYC stand-up comedian ... with AN AWESOME show on MTV called "Human Giant") ... and a huge crush on "Paper Planes" singer M.I.A. Not only is this back-in-the-day bit completely hysterical, but it's also educational. Rumba nala patih!

We're not sure about Parks And Recreation star and stand-up comedian Aziz Ansari himself, but Ansari's comedic alter ego, Raaaaaaaandy, seems to be kind of a sh__t starter. A couple weeks ago, we reported on the supposed feud between Raaaaaaaandy and Kid Cudi, Raaaaaaaandy and Ludacris, and Raaaaaaaandy and a bunch of other high-profile rappers who decided not to contribute verses to the funny man's mixtape.
Now, it seems like Raaaaaaaandy has even more beef — and, this time, it's with pop prince Justin Bieber. In this absolutely hilarious, LOL-inducing Funny Or Die sketch, the scorned comedian recounts just how the Bieb stole the hit single "Baby" from him.
What follows is a profane-ridden re-enactment, featuring appearances from a much older, heavier and pot-smoking actor playing the role of Bieber, TV On The Radio's Dave Sitek, Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner and, of course, Raaaaaaaandy.
As Idolator pointed out, Bieber is no stranger to having a laugh with his fellow musicians. Remember his faux-fight on Twitter with everyone's favorite punching bag, John Mayer? We can't wait to hear Justin's response!
Check out the incredibly NSFW video below.
