In breaking celebrity tattoo news -- no, we're not talking about Miley Cyrus for once -- TMZ has reported that Lindsay Lohan got a new tattoo, and it's... Billy Joel lyrics? Lindsay Lohan took the words "Clear as a crystal sharp as a knife/I feel like I'm in the prime of my life" from Joel's 1989 radio hit/dentist office favorite "I Go To Extremes" and had them tattooed onto her skin. Forever. (Real quick -- shouldn't there be a comma between "crystal" and "sharp"? #englishmajor)
A source told TMZ (who conveniently got these photos exclusively) that Linds picked these specific Billy Joel lyrics to signify the fact that "she's focused." Well, that's one way to look at it. Usually when I hear "I Go To Extremes," I'm at a karaoke bar at 3 a.m. and I've made at least five bad decisions in the preceding 12 hours. But listen, to-may-to, to-mah-to! If Lindsay Lohan feels inspired by these Billy Joel lyrics, more power to her. You are in the prime of your life, girlfriend. You're a young, pretty, famous American with mounds of cash and a seemingly endless supply of sunglasses. Um, jackpot.
While we're not too excited about having Billy Joel's "I Go To Extremes" (watch the video below) stuck in our head for the next five days, we're happy to see Lindsay Lohan recognizing that she's young and healthy and the world is her oyster! Or her body is her canvas. Or whatever. Something motivational.

Stirringly soulful singer-songwriter Vanessa Carlton is prepping the release of her fourth studio album, Rabbits On The Run, on July 26, and already we cannot tear ourselves away from her new video, "Carousel," in which she wanders around the woods in a variety of bohemian outfits that we very much covet. (Girlfriend can pull off a fedora!) The video was directed by Jake Davis, who's also worked with My Chemical Romance, and although it's decidedly less ornate than his work for the grandiose pop-rockers, his hands shines through in the gorgeous shots and lush colors.
"Carousel" has an undeniably comforting folk feel to it (think Regina Spektor or Feist), with a touch of Billy Joel in the piano part (can't be mad at that) and a hauntingly layered chorus. "Carousel" was produced by Steve Osborne, who's worked with U2 and The B-52s, and was recorded at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios, which only gives Vanessa additional classic rock cred."Love comes back around again, it's a carousel, my friend," sings Vanessa, in a voice soothing enough to make broken-hearted kids everywhere believe it.

You know who is having a very good year? Bruno Mars.
You're probably used to seeing that name with the word "featuring" before it, as Mars has been featured on two of 2010's biggest singles, adding his silky vocals to Travie McCoy's "Billionaire" and B.o.B's "Nothin' On You." Well, now he's the one in the spotlight, with his new solo single, "Just The Way You Are."
For anyone hoping this was a cover of Billy Joel's legendary sappy ballad of the same name, I'm sorry to disappoint you. But that will likely be where your disappointment ends; this track is pretty gorgeous, folks.
As Idolator smartly points out, "Just The Way You Are," starts out with some beautiful, cascading Beach Boys harmonies, before segueing into a drums-and-piano-driven mid-tempo love song. The highlight is obviously Mars' delicate voice, which contains the same emotional resonance he brought to McCoy and B.o.B's singles.
It's also got some dope artwork ...

Check out the song as well as Bruno and B.o.B's "Nothin' On You" video, both below.

Did you see The Hills last night? Holy ship. Is there a better show? I know this is neither the time nor the place, but I'm pretty sure Spencer Pratt is the most interesting person who has ever been alive. No offense, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, but homeboy went to therapy and became a different person. A sensitive person who is also a rapper. WHAT THE HELL?
Not only that, but as a barely-recovering Laguna Beach junkie, I am SO psyched for the return of Kristin Cavallari. Did you see her go straight for Justin Bobby?? What I wouldn't give to go to bed tonight and wake up in next year so all of my unanswered Hills questions would be answered already!
But enough about my "problem." Aside from Spencer's emergence from his cocoon of cruelty as a gentle butterfly, last night's big story was Lauren Conrad's departure. What was originally her spin-off, officially entered a new life of its own as she rode away from K-Cav and the Speidi extravaganza alone.
To mark the beginning of a whole new era, Hills producers brought in a whole new voice. They very wisely landed on young buck Tamar Kaprelian, whose fresh and honest single "New Day" has enough emotion in every note to knock the grass off The Hills. Look out, "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield! It's a new day.
In the great tradition of reality TV, I'm gonna let Tamar Kaprelian introduce herself. Here are a couple highlights from her hand-written bio:
I am 22. Songwriting is the most sacred thing in my life. Classic Disney films influenced me as a kid, but my true love of music came about when I discovered Billy Joel and Paul McCartney. In love I fell.
My music chronicles my life, my relationships, my basket-case-ness, and my utter determination and drive to create an album that is real and true to me both personally and artistically.
I hope you enjoy my little musical offerings and songs.
Peace & love.
What a sweetheart, eh? Plays a mean piano, too. Keep an eye out for Tamar Kaprelian and catch her first single "New Day" in The Hills' Season 5 finale, starting tonight!
