+ Robyn slayed (as always) during her O Music Awards performance, so much so she said she broke a blood vessel in her eye! She added, "[The show] was not like doing a TV show; it was a concert, in parts. It was weird going on and off, but it was really fun." (MTV News)
+ Britney Spears turned up the heat on show opener Joe Jonas during their London stop, which was his last for the "Femme Fatale" tour. Watch Brit and dancers give Jonas more than a kiss goodbye with a (sorta) lap dance. (Neon Limelight)
+ Rihanna shares why she chose one album cover over another in her "21 Days To Talk That Talk" webisode. Hint: She says it's the "most unpretty cover" she's done (as if that's possible, Ri). Check it out. (Neon Limelight)
+ Watch Justin Bieber and Boyz II Men bring holiday spirit to "Dancing With The Stars" during their performance of "Fa La La." You can also check out Bieb's doing "Never Say Never." (Neon Limelight)
+ Not a good year for indie rock love. First Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore and Kim Gordon called it quits, and now Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and She & Him's Zooey Deschanel announced a separation after two years of marriage. (MTV News)
+ Taylor Swift has been doing rad covers throughout her tour. During her stop in Memphis she added an acoustic rendition of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me A River." Check it here. (Idolator)

Justin Bieber is like, the most generous Santa Claus EVAR! Instead of dropping lumps of coal in our stockings, Bieber Claus has been hooking us UP with tons of songs and behind-the-scenes videos from the making of his forthcoming Under The Mistletoe album, which drops TOMORROW, OMFG!!!!!
We've already gotten to see Justin's "Mistletoe" video in addition to his super-festive "The Christmas Song" with his BFF/mentor, Usher. We've also heard his "All I Want For Christmas Is You" collabo with the original X-Mas diva Mariah Carey, and let us not forget Justin's club-ready interpretation of "Little Drummer Boy" with Busta Rhymes. (Full disclosure: I had that ish on repeat all weekend. #dontjudge)
As if all of this isn't already the best early Christmas present, Justin has newly released a behind-the-scenes video documenting the making of "Fa La La," his Christmas jam with Boyz II Men. In the clip, we see Justin filling up with holiday cheer (not a euphemism) as he records his melodious verse. Boyz II Men's Shawn Stockman records his part next, and after completely killing the game with his seasoned R&B vocal swag, he gives a quick high-five to his main man Biebs as they revel in the glory of just how dope they are.
Justin's also put his spin on the classic "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town," and it's one of the few songs on Under The Mistletoe that doesn't feature a celeb duet. Justin's version sticks closely to the original save for the cheekier beat and killer R&B riffs.
Also, in case you can't bear to wait just a few more hours to get your hands on Under The Mistletoe (again, it's out tomorrow!), you can now stream the entire album right here. BRB, hyperventilating.
+ Watch Justin Bieber behind the scenes of "Fa La La" and listen to "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town."

Some might argue that a Mariah Carey/Justin Bieber collaboration will be the biggest moment in pop culture since the Britney Spears/Madonna/Christina Aguilera kiss at the 2003 VMAs, Lady Gaga's meat dress or the ROYAL effing WEDDING! And, honestly, we kinda have to agree!
Earlier today, the Biebs took to Twitter to share the news that Mariah would be joining him on a remake of her iconic "All I Want For Christmas Is You," aka the best Christmas song EVAR!! Justin tweeted: "well like I said...#UnderTheMistletoe is not your normal christmas album. right @mariahcarey #NOV1st."
Justin also included a link to a TwitVid that the original butterfly diva Mariah made to announce the collaboration. Casually decked in a silver jacket and draped in jewels from her own jewelry line, Mariah chilled on top of her NYC penthouse as she described the collabo: "I am here today to tell you a little secret. Justin and I are doing this duet together... The song sounds great. I'm very excited for everyone to hear it. This Christmas will be totally festive with our festive collabo!"
In addition to his first single "Mistletoe," Justin revealed the track listing to his "Under The Mistletoe" Christmas album also includes "The Christmas Song" featuring Usher, "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," "Fa La La" featuring Boyz II Men, "Little Drummer Boy" featuring Busta Rhymes, "Christmas Eve" and "Home This Christmas" featuring The Band Perry.
"Mistletoe," the first single from Under The Mistletoe, drops Oct. 18. The full album hits shelves Nov. 1.

There's a crap-ton of hype surrounding almost everything Justin Bieber does, but the hype surrounding his upcoming Christmas album "Under The Mistletoe" is like, NOT EVEN A LITTLE NORMAL. Fans are completely losing it over the thought of Justin's dreamy vocals singing pop culture's most favorite Christmas standards.
Before we tell you about Justin's snowflake-themed "Under The Mistletoe" album cover art, we need to send a quick memo to Justin: "Yo J, you are NOT making the wait for your Christmas album any easier on us. For example, when you tweet things like "this duet with me and @USHERRAYMONDIV for #christmas is CRAZY!!" it kills us. Additionally, the pic of you and Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men in the studio working on your album makes waiting like, the most painful experience of life. Just sayin'. Now on to the album cover!
On the "Under The Mistletoe" cover, a perfectly coiffed Justin sports a black leather jacket (like a boss). A flurry of snowflakes surround him as his piercing gaze shudders through our soul (OK, we're being dramatic). And "Under The Mistletoe" is written across the bottom red glitter font -- dude knows his target audience. All in all, it's half badass, half holiday cheer: what all good Christmases are made of!

The Christmas season cannot get here fast enough -- Justin Bieber's in the studio wrapping up his holiday album! Joy to the world, y'all (holiday puns!), because Justin's got some major collabos in the works, Taylor Swift and Sean Kingston among them. Another collab? Boyz II Men singer Shawn Stockman! OMG, TEEN HEARTTHROBS FROM DIFFERENT GENERATIONS UNITE!!!
To prove this is happening, we have a photo from the recording session! The picture shows Justin and Shawn casually hanging out, sharing a bro handshake, and sporting baseball caps. In the distance, a string of Christmas lights decorates the studio wall (nice touch, guys). While the track list is still unknown, Bieber promises a bunch of original tunes. Not sure about you guys, but we've got our fingers crossed that the two revisited the classic Boyz II Men acapella version of "Silent Night." CHILLS, guys. For real.
And guess what! Even the Biebs himself was a little starstruck with having a real, live Boyz II Man in his midst. He tweeted, "2day i woke up and realized that the group that made me want to sing @BoyzIIMen are now on the christmas album singing with me. #DREAMBIG." Aww! It's a three-months-before-Christmas miracle!

With the smell of prom still lingering in the air, I got to thinking about my own high-school dance experiences. Truth be told, my prom sucked but I had a couple deece homecomings. However, unlike most of my gal pals who relished the whole pre-dance tradition of shopping for a dress, getting your hair did, drinking alcohol-free Zima in a Hampton Inn hotel room, I wasn't interested in anything other than the night's soundtrack.
If your high school was anything like mine, then you probably had the same DJ at every dance, and he insisted on only playing songs from the Billboard Top 40 -- and that was totally fine with me because, at the time, I lived and breathed pop music. (I can't tell you how many hours I spent glued to my dual cassette boom box, recording songs off the radio to make my monthly mixes. Ah, the good ol' days.)
In 1994, I was 15, and I remember being completely excited -- and petrified -- when the DJ would roll out a slow song. Would my crush ask me to dance? Would he put his arms on my neck or around my waist? Would he try to touch my butt? These were BIG questions in the life of a high-school sophomore, and the answers would eventually unfold while some of the sappiest (and age-inappropriate) ballads played in the background. (Yes. Waist. Sort of.)
Grab your Binaca pocket spray, perform a pit smell-check and make sure there's a balloon-size space between you and the music of R. Kelly, Boyz II Men, All-4-One and Jodeci.
Finally, if you'd like to keep up with all my musings, please visit my website and follow me on Twitter (@redpatterndress).
1.) R. Kelly's "Bump N' Grind (Remix)": I didn't care too much for R. Kelly's album version of this song, but the remix was my slow-song jam. My friends and I wouldn't so much dance to this song as we'd find a male partner, lean on them and sway around for three and a half minutes. (Very romantic, don't you think?) At the time, I'm sure I thought R. Kelly was sweetly singing about wanting to take a trip to over-the-clothes Dry Humpville; taking a look at the lyrics 15 years later, I'm not so sure. Example: "So show me some ID before I get knee-deep into you." Not only is that the most uncomfortable sentiment ever, but if it wasn't a prediction of the R&B crooner's future legal trouble with underage girls, I don't know what was.
Listen to "Bump N' Grind (Remix)"
2.) Boyz II Men's "I'll Make Love To You": Again, another song that was completely inappropriate to play at a high-school soiree but one that always brought hormone-fueled bodies to dance floor. (Sidenote: Boyz II Men was the third concert I ever saw and when they played this song, the Boyz... er, Men would traipse around the stage in their oversize suits and hand out red roses to the girls in the audience. Swoon.) These days, the only time I hear this song is when I'm in the grocery store. I'm not sure why, but the opening chords still give me butterflies. Maybe it's because I think Dan Netzer is going to creep out from around the cereal aisle and FINALLY ask me to dance. A girl can dream, can't she?
Listen to "I'll Make Love To You"
3.) All-4-One's "I Swear": All-4-One might've been one of the fugliest groups I've ever seen, but they sure knew how to sing a corny love song. Sure, it wasn't an original -- country artist John Michael Montgomery first made the ballad a hit only a couple months earlier -- but it was new to anyone who didn't watch CMT on a regular basis, which was everyone I knew except my friend Cristen, who had recently discovered Garth Brooks and insisted on playing "Calling Baton Rouge" on repeat every morning on the drive to school.
4.) Jodeci's "Feenin": Nothing gets the blood pumping like hearing JoJo and K-Ci's falsetto wails bounce off the moist walls of a packed gymnasium. According to Urban Dictionary, "feenin" is defined as "craving for intensely, mostly for a person" and, hell, isn't that what high school's all about? Feenin, stalking. Tomato, tomahto. Oh, Jodeci. You could always express what my teenage heart could not.
