Oh, the lengths to which Tyson Ritter will go for your happiness... Months ago he stood on a Malibu beach, staring down the icy ocean water, knowing exactly how much it was gonna hurt to jump in.

The All-American Rejects' frontman used an airplane metaphor to describe the inevitable suffering, saying that he knew his "landing gear" was gonna come way up in that chilly water. "I might have ovaries by the end of the day," he joked. Had he seen this coming, the song may have been called "The Ocean Blows."

After watching the Rich Lee-directed (Fergie, Chamillionaire, Evanescence) video for "The Wind Blows," I can safely say that it was well worth the shrinkage. The video -- a hazy ocean-side romance, perfectly matches the song's melodic heartache. The band describes it as a "love story that doesn't end bad, it just ends." Kinda like their latest album, When The World Comes Down: a thrilling emotional rollercoaster that has to end, but does so on a positive note. Follow the Oklahoma boys down to the Malibu beach, and watch the dreamy video for their second When The World Comes Down single, "The Wind Blows."

+ At last night's Democratic Convention, Sheryl Crow dedicated her song "Strong Enough" Barack Obama, then asked the White House hopeful: "Are you strong enough to be my man ... or my president?" (Billboard)

+ And speaking of Barack's celebrity fanbase, he couldn't ask for a more outspoken supporter than Madonna. He also couldn't ask for a worse lobbyist. (NY Times)

+ Meanwhile, is Rage Against the Machine's Zack de la Rocha planning to "hijack" the Republican Convention? (That's soooo 2000 VMAs!) (NME)

+ Robin Thicke and Mary J. Blige are touring to promote their new albums. Also weird? One of them has a new album called Growing Pains ... and it's NOT Robin "Son of Alan" Thicke. (Reuters)

+ T.I. has a message for whoever leaked his new track, "Swagger Like Us," onto the Internet. "Don't ruin the event," he says. "Wait till the cake comes out the kitchen before you eat it. That's like a kid who sees his toys before Christmas; it takes away from me [and] it takes away from the fans." (MTV)

+ Taylor Swift has a windblown, Mariah-thing happening on the cover of her new LP, Fearless. (The Boot)

+ Chamillionaire puts himself in his fans' shoes. "I did a rap like I'm the person sitting at the computer typing," he says. "It's some little kid that's on the Internet ... His mother comes in and asks him, 'Did you take your medication? Are you on those porno sites again?' I'm rapping like I'm him in his voice." (MTV)

In case you didn't hear the news, Pimp C, one half of hip-hop duo UGK, was found dead yesterday in Los Angeles. Read Sway Calhoun's moving tribute to the late rapper, who was just 33 and died of undisclosed causes. And check out Suckerfreeblog.com for more on the infamous rapper, who left behind a substantial body of work that spans almost 20 years, from his unforgettable guest spot on Jay-Z's groundbreaking track, "Big Pimpin'" to collaborations with T.I., Three 6 Mafia and Chamillionaire, and of course, his own solo albums and prolific career with Bun B.

Keep on ridin' dirty and sippin' on that sizzurp.

We keep looking over our shoulder to see if the hip-hop police are coming for us … 'cause Chamillionaire's MTV Live performance is so dope, it's gotta be illegal. The Mixtape Messiah pulls out all the stops while performing hit songs like "Ridin" and "Grown and Sexy," and Lil' Flip, Bun B and Pimp C even drop by for a rhyme or two.

We know what it was like being in the audience, but what was it like being onstage? Well, we went straight to the source and asked our man Cham when he was in the TRL studio yesterday. Here's what he had to say: "Oh man. One thing I love about doing the MTV shows and stuff like that is that the audience always seems to really enjoy being involved. Some places you go, people will just be sitting and staring at you … so, to go on MTV Live, it's definitely a blessing to be involved in something like that, knowing that it’s going to reach a bigger audience."
