+ Katy Perry may surpass the title for which she's currently tied with Michael Jackson and score six No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 from the same album. Can Teenage Dream's "The One That Got Away" do it? We'll find out soon, but peep the cover art. (Neon Limelight)
+ Will a "sharking" meme go viral next? Check out photos of Ke$ha working a shark mask in Rio de Janeiro yesterday. There are also snaps of her boat ride in Sao Paolo. (ONTD)
+ Lady Gaga and Cher's "The Greatest Thing" may drop in the next couple of days. While we wait with baited breath, co-writer/producer RedOne says, "I think it's timeless. The beautiful thing about this song is, it's very uplifting...and it has a dance vibe on it." (MTV News)
+ He's in. He's out. He's in. T.I.'s officially free (again), having been released from a halfway house in Atlanta last night. "[He] basically checked out of the halfway house for the very last time," said a Federal Bureau of Prisons spokesperson. (Rap-Up)
+ Courtney Love's slated to write a memoir, which will cover everything -- her childhood, her marriage to Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, her relationship with Billy Corgan, the scoop about her band Hole and her Hollywood roles. (New York Times)
+ Looking for a unique Halloween gift? The Flaming Lips (but of course!) have you covered. They're releasing a 24-hour song (!!) that will be encased in a human skull!!! (Pitchfork)
+ Sylvia Robinson passed away yesterday of congestive heart failure. She was 75. Among her many accomplishments, she was a rap trailblazer who orchestrated Sugarhill Gang's seminal "Rapper's Delight." The song was the first to prove rap commercially viable. (RapFix)

Remember last year, while you were watching the 2010 MTV VMAs and enjoying the mind-breaking surreality of Lady Gaga asking Cher to hold her meat purse? Didn't you at one point -- between seizing up considering an music industry salmonella outbreak and at thought of fresh meat touching your skin -- think to yourself "this would all be just SO much better if, instead of real people, I were watching adorable dogs dressed up like Lady Gaga and Cher instead"? Well, we here at MTV did. Which is why we're bringing you... ANIMAL REENACTMENTS OF FAMOUS VMA MOMENTS! It's just like the real thing, but 184383838 katrillion times more adorable. And tinier. AND WITH REAL, LIVE DOGS!!!! And, please, a quick round of applause (or... aPAWS -- GET IT!?) for Moxie the dog, who wore the meat dress like a champ (and managed not to eat any of it!), and for Sugar, whose version of "If I Could Turn Back Time" really must be seen to be believed.
Also, as someone who was on the set of MTV's VMA animal reenactments (best day of my life next to the time I met Hanson!), I can confirm that that's a real dog-sized meat dress and meat purse (it's jerky, actually), yes they're real dogs. Professional, trained animal actors who were handled by trained professionals. Actually, their lives seemed more glamorous than my own. Plus, they got to nap on set. Any job where you get to nap is a job worth holding onto.
Watch an adorable dog version of Lady Gaga and a spot-on doggie Cher reenact Lady Gaga's 2010 Video Of The Year acceptance speech (and watch Lady Gaga and Cher's original version below if you don't believe me.) And stay tuned for more VMA animal reenactments, including CATS!!!!! (Obviously.)

Cher fans are pumped about her return to the studio, and they were probably even more excited when they found out she called in the big guns to collaborate on new material. Well, actually, let me rephrase: Cher called in the biggest gun -- aka Lady Gaga -- to pen a new single on her forthcoming album. "The Greatest Thing" was cowritten by Lady Gaga and her producer/bestie RedOne. The song was originally intended for the Lady herself, but when it didn't make the cut, the kind Mother personally gifted it to the Burlesque star.
"The Greatest Thing" demo (which Cher has already gushed about via Twitter) begins with that classic pop flavor, which so clearly defined Cher's 1998 hit, "Believe." Over the track we hear a fully Auto-Tuned Gaga sing, "I don't know why you hurt inside/Or what was said to make you cry/I hope that you can see you are the greatest thing to me."
Though it's driven by a strong RedOne beat, the current form of "The Greatest Thing" lacks a surging hook, à la "Believe." But then again, this is just a demo. We have no doubt that the final version of the song will be perfectly, quintessentially Cher.

+ Tokio Hotel is prepping three (three!) best of albums for a December release: a German language version, an English language version and a double album in German. (Tokio Hotel America)
+ Nicki Minaj's lovely crossover hit, "Your Love," would have never hit the top of the R&B charts if Nicki had anything to do with it. She tells Billboard, "I didn't like the song, and I didn't put it out," she said. "Someone stole it." (MTV News)

Lady Gaga's VMA meat dress is probably well on its way to becoming a jerky dress (or a serious health hazard). Or a shrine for someone's Silence Of The Lambs fantasy. (Just kidding!)
Anyway, that doesn't mean there aren't other celebrities lining up to try it on Gaga's meat dress for size and put a little meat on their bones! (Har.)
We've already seen Snooki in Gaga's meat dress. Check out Britney Spears, Kanye West, Lady Gaga, Bill Kaulitz and Cher in Gaga's meat dress, and vote for the celebrity you think wore the meat dress best!

Not bad. Britney looks cheery and sweet, but we like our Britney best with a snake.

Nicki Minaj can pull off pretty much anything. Even the dress equivalent of the "Bodies" exhibit.

Kanye West in Gaga's meat dress? Again, not a bad look, but it'd work best if the meat dress were stamped in the Chanel logo.

Bill Kaulitz of Tokio Hotel is never afraid of taking fashion risks. But, he's also a vegetarian and animal lover, so he might be politically and ethically adverse. If Bill Kaulitz wore Lady Gaga's meat dress, it'd have to be that really convincing fake meat that looks like the real thing. It it somehow incorporated leather, that'd be even better.

Back in the day, Cher was the queen of wearing crazy ish... What am I talking about? She's still the queen of wearing crazy ish. No pants, embellished everything, and head dresses that looked like she robbed an Egyptian tomb. In fact, Cher's VMA outfit was pretty much all of those things, minus the headdress (slacker!), though her wig was approximately the size of Lady Gaga.

+ Who wore Gaga's meat dress best? Vote!

Everyone's seen The Meat Dress photos. But there's still plenty you didn't see at the 2010 MTV VMAs. And here are 12 photos of the VMA moments you may have missed but need to see.

Wondering what Jared and Shannon Leto did with the Moonman 30 Seconds to Mars won for Best Rock Video? They polished it on Chris Pontius' crotch. As one does.

Jared Leto was afraid of getting his eye poked out by one of Lady Gaga's fearsome spikes, but he didn't want to be rude and decline her generous offer for tea.
But when Gaga offered Drake a bite of her meat purse, he graciously accepted. Fancy!

HOW was more not made of Gucci Mane's ice cream chain?? HOW, DAMN IT? It deserves its own VMA.

It's almost as if the Moonman is like, "Hey wait, Mike 'The Situation.' America has SEEN ENOUGH OF YOUR ABS." Spare us this ONCE! Alas, it was not to be. America saw EVEN MORE of The Situation's abs.

Who did this to you, Will.i.am? WHO?

Even at a VMA afterparty, it's always important to leave room for some Vitamin C. Nicely done, Waka Flocka Flame!

The 2010 MTV VMAs are less than a week away, and just when you thought the stellar lineup of performers and presenters couldn't get any better... it just went and got better. + Katy Perry's on the cover of August's Cosmopolitan looking not as fruity as one might expect. It's a nice change from the over-the-top craziness we normally see. (I'm Not Obsessed)
+ O.M.J. Kevin Jonas engaged? WHAT?? (Buzzworthy)
+ Speaking of the Jonas Brothers, did you know that they're probably not going back to a certain U.K. hotel after trashing their room? Seriously! (Webster's Is My Bitch)
+ How about this mash-up of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" and Britney Spears' "Gimme More?" We think it's kind of hot! (PopBytes)
+ Speaking of MJ, check out this vid of him rehearsing at the Staples Center just two days before he passed away. Seems like he really was going to pull off that comeback after all. (US Magazine)
+ Oh. Happy 30th Birthday to the Sony Walkman (for any of you kids who actually had one). I remember my yellow Sportsman like it was yesterday. It had "shock control" too, so that when you went jogging the Tiffany you were listening to didn't sound like Ethel Merman (though there was really nothing you could do about Cher). (Tripwire)

+ Exciting news about Madonna that has nothing to do with adoption and nannies! The Queen of Pop will be teaming up with none other than Paul Oakenfold for the U.K. and European legs of her "Sticky & Sweet" tour, as well as some new tracks on her September 2009 greatest hits album that will consist of "cutting edge sounds combined with classic Madonna."
+ Cher is finally speaking out about her daughter Chastity Bono's decision to transition from female to male. She seems to be pretty cool about the whole thing. OMG my mom would ground me for at LEAST three weeks. (Star Magazine)
+ After Whitney Houston turned down the part, rapper Eve has signed up for a two-episode story arc on the upcoming FOX series GLEE as a high school choir director. (EW.com)
+ Ooh! A new video from Ciara f. Missy Elliott where Ciara turns a construction site into a catwalk? We'll take two. (Rap-Up)
+ Geography is HARD y'all! Britney Spears slipped up and said "What's up, London?!"at the only concert she did in the U.K. 200 miles outside of London (the show was in Manchester). Let's just say the fans were not amused. (CelebWarship)
+ Meanwhile, back in an Arkansas prison, T.I.'s got a rill RILL bad case of the squirts. (Bossip)

The unstoppable, unsinkable, unflappable Katy Perry just released her latest video, "Waking Up In Vegas," which details the story of a wild, sleepless night in the city that really REALLY never sleeps.
So wake up, ante up, and find out five things very important things you need to know about Katy Perry's latest video.
1.) "Waking Up In Vegas" was directed by accomplished director Joseph Kahn, who's pretty much Britney Spears' go-to video guy. Joseph Kahn directed Britney's "Womanizer" video, as well as "Stronger," and "Toxic." He directed Eminem's "Without Me" video, which won him a Grammy in 2002 as well as a 2002 VMA, and he directed Eminem's "We Made You" video.
2.) You're probably like "I know that guy in the video, but I don't know his name! Who IS that guy?" The guy in Katy Perry's "Waking Up In Vegas" video is an actor named Joel David Moore, and aside from roles on Six Feet Under, House, and Bones, Joel David Moore's also been in Dodgeball and will star in the upcoming movie, Avatar. He's also been in about a zillion commercials (basically, he's "that guy"), including that singing "Do It eBay" commercial.
3.) "Waking Up In Vegas" was filmed at The Palms Resort. Other videos filmed there include (ahem), Gym Class Heroes' "Clothes Off" video, as well as Eminem's "We Made You." Teairra Mari and Flo Rida just filmed "Cause A Scene" at the Palms, The Real World: Las Vegas was filmed there all the way back in 2002, and the Palms was also the location of the 2007 MTV Video Music Awards, which is where Britney Spears, well, you probably know how that went.
4.) The two guys Katy kicks out of her hotel room are Vegas magicians/ comedy staples Penn and Teller -- Penn's the tall one, and Teller's the one who rarely speaks. They also appeared in Run D.M.C.'s "It's Tricky" video back in the day. You've also probably heard Penn without realizing it -- he does lots of voiceover work for Comedy Central. There's also a poker pro in the video -- the guy Katy beats is real-life poker champ Daniel Negreanu.
5.) In the video, Katy wears real vintage costumes from Bob Mackie's personal collection. For the glam-oblivious, Bob Mackie is the esteemed fashion designer behind some of the most sequined, spangled, bejeweled, bedangled and outrageous costumes in the history of fashion. Remember the black feathered headdress Cher wore to the 1986 Oscars? That's Bob Mackie. (And if you still need them, check out more examples of glamourness -- ex-glam-ples?)
+ Now, watch the video. And remember: Always bet on black. (Or is it red?)
