Kid Cudi's new album, Man On The Moon II: The Legend Of Mr. Rager, is rumored to be a pretty dark affair, touching on some heartbreak as well as the personal turmoil that led to the MC/Kanye West protégé's arrest earlier this past summer.
So it's somewhat surprising to see "Erase Me," the first video from Kid Cudi's album, taking a pretty light approach to things. "Erase Me" is a melodic, mid-tempo rock song; something of a departure from the "Make Her Say" rapper. And the "Erase Me" video, featuring Christopher Mintz-Plasse of "Role Models" and "Superbad" fame and Clark Duke from "Greek," is a hoot.
The video starts off like a spoof of "Almost Famous," with Cudi sporting a pretty thorough Jimi Hendrix outfit and a spotty British accent. After conducting a backstage interview with Rolling Stone, Cudi leads his band onstage for a performance of "Erase Me," with McLovin on drums. The band plays the track for adoring fans and is eventually joined by Kanye West, who performs his verse from the track.
