There are only a few things that unite us all, no matter our generation, race, or class: internet cat videos, Girl Scout cookies and the middle finger are on this treasured list. In Cobra Starship's latest video, the band pays homage to everyone's favorite hand gesture with an assist from Mac Miller in "Middle Finger."
Cobra Starship is already known for their IDGAF mentality, and "Middle Finger" really raises the bar. As Gabe Saporta plans his night out on a pay phone outside a convenience store, the middle finger spreads around town like good deeds in "Pay It Forward." Mac Miller starts the bird craze as he opens the song: "Got my middle finger up and it's pointed to the ground/Rollin' in with my whole entourage, too many of us to count." Soon, everyone is giving everyone else the middle finger as Cobra Starship ride around in a Jeep continuing to -- wait for it -- not GAF.
If we've learned anything from "Middle Finger," it's to pay your bill in all change, drop someone's art project on the street, ruin a neighborhood basketball game, and splash an old lady with street water. Cobra Starship and Mac Miller: NOT role models.
"Middle Finger" featuring Mac Miller is out now on Cobra Starship's Night Shades album.

We got a hint of Cobra Starship's sense of humor when we received their video updates from the road during September when they were our Posted artist of the month. And we knew these guys probably liked pranks when we saw frontman Gabe Saporta bro-in' down with Justin Bieber in a ski hat -- Justin Bieber just seems like he loves tricking people, doesn't he?!
And now we're still LOLing about a recent video the band made wherein Ryland Blackington is asked to redub an interview the band previously shot due to effed-up audio. And as you might guess, IT'S HYSTERICAL. Ryland gives his best go at an answer Gabe was offering to a table of journalists: "I was five times before your mom, two before the bath, and I pooped." Ryland also royally flubs it when he takes his best guess as to what he himself was saying during the interview: "Sex toys do automatically feel so exhilarating, make you wanna cuddle this ass."
Ryland ISN'T EVEN CLOSE on his guesstimates, but it makes for a totally LOLZ-y video. Be warned though, probably not gonna want to listen to this one around your mom or your boss (NSFW). Also, the phrase at the end -- we can't repeat it but you'll know what we're talking about. SO GOOD/maybe the best new band name ever?

Cobra Starship frontman Gabe Saporta turned 32 on Tuesday, and who better to celebrate with than his 17-year-old and not-yet-legal bud, Justin Bieber? Along with a pic of him and the Biebs eating some vanilla cake, Gabe tweeted to Justin Bieber's longtime manager Scooter Braun, "Yo @scooterbraun why won’t you have some birthday cake w/ @justinbieber & I?!"
A few peculiar things are going down in this photo that we'd like to point out: First, our boy Justin looks really confused. His brow is furrowed, and he's reluctantly pointing at a baked good. This leads us to believe that he forgot it was Gabe's birthday doesn't really get why Gabe is making a big deal of the cake, let alone snapping a pic of the two of them eating it.
Additionally, Gabe and Justin are in a hot and sweaty indoor venue, but Justin is wearing a seemingly warm red winter hat. Justin did just recently break up with his swag coach, so maybe his styling is momentarily off-kilter.
Either way, we feel bad for Scooter Braun! I mean, his two pals are together eating a delicious piece of cake, and he is getting Twitter-blasted for not being there with them. JK, who are we kidding? Scooter probably missed the festivities because he was on a private beach with his girlfriend somewhere remote thinking about all the mother-effing dough he's made off a 17-year-old. Birthday cake, schmirthday cake.

Last week, MTV Posted group Cobra Starship checked in from the road to discuss their appearance at a recent Buddy Holly tribute show. But we've found a ton of new videos that show the group touching on a wide array of topics, from suspect plane rides to the VMAs.
First off, the guys tell our pals at NextMovie.com which films they watched for inspiration while recording their new album, Night Shades. (Hint: Picture the most guy-friendly violent films you can imagine.) They also told us how their participation on the new Buddy Holly tribute album came to be, as well as relaying a common rock band story of broken-down tour buses and a scary ride on the same type of plane that killed Holly. Why the band was told that before the ride, we have no idea.
You've already seen the band perform "You Make Me Feel... " at last month's VMAs, but what did they think about the other performances? The band reveals their true feelings on Chris Brown and Lady Gaga/Jo Calderone/That monologist person. Finally, get on stage with the group and check out some rehearsal footage from a recent show. You're welcome.

Fresh off their appearance at the 2011 VMAs earlier this month, MTV Posted artist Cobra Starship recently took the stage at Fueled By Ramen's 15th Anniversary show and at a Buddy Holly tribute show to celebrate what would have been the late singer's 75th birthday. Band member Victoria Asher was cool enough to check in from the road to discuss the tribute.
So things have been pretty nuts lately. The boys and I have had lots of traveling, lots of rehearsals, one-off shows, the VMAs and just recently, Gabe and I flew to Los Angeles for two days to play a Buddy Holly tribute show on what would have been Buddy's 75th birthday -- Sept. 7, 2011! My father Peter Asher produced a really fantastic record entitled Listen to Me. We're on it along with our friends Patrick Stump, Zooey Deschanel and lots of other incredible musicians.
The show was amazing, and we got to perform with such great people. It was also incredibly exciting to meet Buddy Holly's wife Elena Maria Holly and to watch her in the front row singing along and smiling. Here are a few video clips and photos from the show/rehearsals that you guys will hopefully enjoy.

+ Last night's Fashion's Night Out drew fashionistas, designers, celebs and fans to New York City. Fashion-forward artist Nicki Minaj tweeted shopping locales and RT'd a fan photo at YSL. Meanwhile, Ne-Yo sang at Saks. Justin Bieber was decked out in Dolce & Gabbana. (MTV Style)
+ Turns out the Biebs likes fashion and has a thing for drums -- particularly Cobra Starship's drums. He got behind their kit before the VMAs and hijacked them another time, too. Drummer Nate Novarro took it in stride: "It's a rental." (MTV News)
+ Lady Gaga, who was in school with her friends at the time, reflects on 9/11 in an interview: "None of us believed it was happening... we ran up to the roof and I just remember we got up to the roof, and one tower had already fallen and we all watched the second tower fall all together." (MTV News)
+ Host Ryan Seacrest reportedly confirmed that Lady Gaga will perform to ring in 2012 during Dick Clark's "New Year's Rocking Eve." Black Eyed Peas' Fergie will host on the West Coast. (Neon Limelight)

New York synth-pop quintet and MTV Posted artist Cobra Starship have been having a very good week. Last Sunday, the group performed their summer hit "You Make Me Feel..." with Britney Spears' favorite rapper/singer Sabi at the 2011 VMAs pre-show. (Check out some photos from their rehearsal.)The following Tuesday, the group released their fourth album Night Shades, featuring "#1Nite (One Night)," "Fool Like Me" and the Mac Miller-assisted "Middle Finger." Yeah, we bring Posted artists together. We're nice like that.
For fans of "You Make Me Feel...," we got you. If you missed the band's performance last week -- or just want to see it again -- we've got Cobra Starship's live performance below, beginning with lead cobra Gabe Saporta and Sabi walking through the crowd and performing the song's first half among fans and paparazzi. The pair serenaded each other, with Saporta whipping out his own camera to take shots of Sabi during her performance before the duo joined their fellow bandmates on the main stage.
After that, check out the band's official video for the song, which sees a photo booth upstage the band members themselves. "I look all over the world for [a girl], and our world is the nightclub," Saporta told MTV. "The video is about the photo booth. It's just not any photo booth; it's a photo booth that tells you how you're really feeling. That's the main star of the video." Always nice to show love to your fellow castmates.

And we're off! Cobra Starship and Britney Spears' favorite rapper/singer Sabi kicked off the 2011 VMAs with an anthemic rendition of the band's "You Make Me Feel...," the lead single off the group's upcoming fourth album Night Shades.
The song began with lead cobra Saporta and Sabi walking through the crowd and performing the song's first half among fans and paparazzi. The pair serenaded each other, with Saporta whipping out his own camera to take shots of Sabi during her performance. The duo dressed for the occasion, with Sabi rocking tight silver pants and a pink halter top and Saporta donning his classiest suit. After eliciting the requisite audience screams, the pair joined their fellow bandmates on the main stage to deliver a rousing, energetic version of the dance floor-friendly track.
If Cobra Starship was feeling the pressure of opening up the show, they hid it well, bringing a newfound energy to "You Make Me Feel...". No extra theatrics or histrionics were needed, as the crowd was amped just to see the group kick off the show. If this is the harbinger of tonight's performances, we're in for a fun night.
