When we last caught up with Cypress Hill, a group that could politely be described as rabble-rousing or antiauthoritarian, they seemed to have mellowed, performing in the video for Marc Anthony and the Pitbull-assisted video for the single "Armada Latina."
One video later and the rappers seem to have gotten all that mellow out of their system, returning with "Rise Up," from the album of the same name. This deeply funky track features Tom Morello adding some of his trademark "chicken scratch gone metal" guitar lines. The end product is not unlike something you might hear from Morello's outfit, Rage Against The Machine.
Check out the video below. "Rise Up" is out now.

At this point, Cypress Hill can pretty much do whatever it damn well pleases. If that means teaming up with Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello on the group's eighth studio album, Rise Up (April 20), then go for it. And if that also means releasing your album on Snoop Dogg's label, getting Marc Anthony to sing the hook on "Armada Latina," and if that hook is sung over the catchy chorus of Crosby, Stills & Nash's "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," then so be it. The fact that Pitbull drops a few verses means it's gonna be a very Cypress Hill -- and CSN -- summer.

+ Update: Watch the "Armada Latina" video now!
Back in the day when Cypress Hill's "How I Could Just Kill A Man" was booming out of car stereos everywhere you went, if you'd told me that in 2010 we'd have little tablets to watch movies on at the same time that the same Cypress Hill would be making lady-friendly songs with Pitbull AND that Cypress Hill would be sampling Crosby, Stills & Nash, I would've a) been taken aback by the specificity of your prognostications and b) not believed you.
But here we are, 2010 and Cypress Hill's back with "Armada Latina," the first single from the group's eighth album, Rise Up. The cut features the man who popularized "Hotel Room Service," as well as some doo-doo-doo-doo-do's from classic rockers CS&N.
Enjoy a preview of Cypress Hill's "Armada Latina" video, featuring Pitbull, below. The "Armada Latina" video premieres on MTV and MTV.com tomorrow. And while you're at it, get a little insane in the membrane for good measure.

UPDATE: The entire show is now available online. What are you waiting for??
Whether you're an old-school head (think Eric B & Rakim, Run DMC, Sugar Hill Gang) a recent convert (think: Eminem, 50 Cent, Weezy) or just a big-time Tracy Morgan fan (Think: "Brian Fellows' Safari Planet"), you're not gonna want to miss tonight's 2008 VH1 Hip Hop Honors.
Here, we've rounded up the best behind-the-scenes dirt, backstage photos and red carpet reportage to get you your most readiest for the big night. Here's a few reasons you'll want to tune in tonight at 10pm:
+ Tracy Morgan's hosting, and he's not afraid to give it up for the most powerful woman in politics: Tina Fey.
+ Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy is heading up the backstage interviews, and you won't wanna miss him reminiscing with Busta Rhymes over Slick Rick's jewels.
+ This year's honorees are some of the biggest names in hip-hop: Cypress Hill, De La Soul, Naughty By Nature, Slick Rick and Too $hort. Yahurd?
+ The performances are gonna be HOT. We're talking Kid Rock, Lil Jon, Cee-Lo, Fat Joe, Flavor Flav, Wyclef Jean and much, much more.
+ There's nothing like seeing history in the making. Find out which of this year's moments will join Nelly and Ciara's tribute to LL Cool J as one of the best moments in Hip Hop Honors' history.
+ The guys from Naughty by Nature have so many skillz they can even kick it a cappella. Hip-hop hooray!
+ You'll get to see Gym Class Heroes, Busta Rhymes, De La Soul and Bun B showing off their favorite hip hop moves. (We still say the Running Man's timeless).
+ Even the rehearsals are dope. From the Public Enemy runthrough to Travis McCoy's Cypress Hill tribute, all we can say is BRING IT.
+ And speaking of Cypress Hill, you'll want to hear why they had a police escort in Illinois. Plus find out how De La Soul passes the time when they're on the road.
+ The spontaneous infomercials. Despite his apparent lack of coordination, we're thinking Katy Perry's boyfriend might've missed his calling.
+ It's all about the style. Special shout-outs to Cee-Lo for his shiny, velour spacesuit and Biz Markie's for his 45-pound bling... thing.
PLUS, get even more prepped with videos from some of tonight's top performers and honorees. We've been waiting All Summer Long for such a Vivrant Thing, and now Something's Gotta Give before we Get Low and go Insane in the Brain. So check out hits from Cypress Hill, Naughty By Nature, Busta Rhymes and Lil Jon and try not to go loco. Like we did just there.

Boys of the Warped Tour, take note: Charlotte Sometimes is coming along, and she's coming armed.
The Jersey-born singer-songwriter -- think Sara Bareilles and Kate Nash bowing at the altar of Regina Spektor -- is named for the Cure song, and both take their name from the children's book by Penelope Farmer.
Charlotte (born Jessica Charlotte Poland) just released her debut album, Waves & the Both of Us, flanked by her first single, "How I Could Just Kill a Man," inspired (clearly) by a this-one's-for-the-books bad breakup and the Cypress Hill song of the same name. (Seriously.)
Watch her video below, and check out MTV's exclusive photos of Charlotte Sometimes, who heads out on the Warped Tour any minute now -- good thing she'll have fellow female Katy Perry to keep her company.
