Daughtry's 2006 self-titled debut sold over a quarter-million copies its first week out, became the fastest-selling rock debut in Soundscan history, and has sold over 5 million copies to date.

Daughtry's sophomore follow-up, Leave This Town, is set for a July 14th release. The album includes the lead single, "No Surprise" -- co-written with Nickelback's Chad Kroeger, as well as Eric Dill and Rune Westberg -- "Every Time You Turn Around," "You Don't Belong," and nine more tracks.

Will Daughtry's Leave This Town match or surpass the success of his debut? Listen to every track of the album a week before it's released on "The Leak."

Chris Daughtry and his band take a somber look at the state of small-town America in the dramatic video for first Leave This Town single, "No Surprise." The North Carolina native and his band dish up a slice of life, pointing out that the people on the unemployment lines are actually their neighbors, and it really hits home.

But, in the process of stirring up all that emotion, the video also kiiinda makes it look like the members of Daughtry are cursed. Joe Factory Worker is just pulling into work on a normal morning. Daughtry drives by, and Joe gets a pink slip. Cut to drummer Joey Barnes flirting with a waitress. He flashes her a wry smile, and before you know it, her boss is screaming in her face and pointing at the door. Later in the video she runs into guitarist Josh Steely on the street, just before discovering that her husband is nowhere to be found. Sounds a little fishy, right?

Of course it's not. Daughtry are just inserting themselves into everyday American problems to lend a little weight to their colossal new rocker, "No Surprise," directed by Nathan Cox. Between recession-inspired vignettes, the band slays on a U2 scale, blasting their message of hope from the top of a deserted quarry.

+ No Doubt is back in action and kicked of the TODAY show's Summer Concert Series with a live performance of "Spiderwebs." Gwen Stefani looks amazing, per usual. (PopCrunch)

+ Nas and Kelis have announced that they are getting a divorce. This seems like perfect timing since she is like SEVEN months preggers. WTF?? (MTV News)

+ Man, our minds are just getting BLOWN on this dreary Friday... Kelly McGillis (the hot blonde from Top Gun) has just announced she is a LEZBOT?? Talk to me, Goose. Did she catch the "Tom Cruise?" We hear it's a very serious contagion -- even more serious than that Piggy Flu that's been blowin' 'round! (SheWired)

+ Lady GaGa has been touring the world relentlessly since the summer of last year and has now been ordered by record bosses to take the entire month of August off. Time to give the hair bows (not hairbows, but bows made of hair) and umbrellas a break, Lady. (Amy Grindhouse)

We recently put together a playlist over here called "Be The Change." It includes videos from Daughtry, Common, Green Day, Will.I.Am and other artists who are doing their part to join Barack Obama in moving the country forward. What a terrible oversight it was not to include Flo Rida.

Have you seen the original "You Spin Me Round" video? Have you ever even seen a photo of Dead Or Alive, the band responsible for it? Oh my holy Lord, how times have changed.

Shot in what appears to be a Sears portrait studio, "You Spin Me Round" is basically a walking, talking Yellow Pages ad for a pirate law firm. Dudes in unthinkable hairstyles and business suits (with the exception of the crimped leading she-man in the eye patch and the kimono) pose with their elbows on each others' shoulders and their grins set to "win." It's downright unbelievable.

Any practical artist would have trashed the video at first glance and started over. Not Flo Rida. He's a humanitarian with a vision for the future. While preserving certain visual cues, such as a shimmering disco ball and a variation on the eye-patch called "sunglasses," Flo Rida ushers in an era of accountability (err... sorta) by trading out the suits for shortie-shorts on fly girls. He replaces the law firm / maypole sequence with a glossy black turntable slathered in chicks. As for the vampire fingernails... well he just completely ditches them. Wise.

Thanks Flo Rida! Thanks for making America great again! Watch Flo Rida's update below and the original after the jump!

In addition to the odd pairing of teen dreams the Jonas Brothers, beer-buzz-happy Shwayze, Nelly and his pro-partying stance, and scary Slipknot, tonight’s FNMTV lineup also holds a relative newcomer — 21-year-old Irish singer-songwriter Lesley Roy. Think Amy Lee’s best friend meets Gretchen Wilson’s little sister meets Hayley Williams' Irish cousin over a pint of Guinness.

We rang up Lesley in L.A., where was prepping for her big FNMTV debut, and she gave us a little look (as much as one can over the phone anyway) at her about-to-drop video, “I’m Gone, I’m Going,” off her upcoming album, Unbeautiful, which hits stores September 30th and features songwriting credits by FNMTV alum Katy Perry. Wait, so, did Katy put the girlie moves on Lesley? Read our exclusive interview with Lesley Roy to find out.

Buzzworthy: What can we expect to see in your new video, “I’m Gone, I’m Going”?

Lesley Roy: It’s definitely about where I am in my life. For the past two years, I was going back and forth to the States, and I finally made the move, and I’m releasing the album, and it’s all coming together now. So “I’m Gone, I’m Going” is 100 percent what I’m doing right now. I can’t wait to show it Friday night!

BW: Why’d you title your upcoming album Unbeautiful?

LR: Unbeautiful is the title of one of my favorite songs on the album. I called the album that because it’s when I hit rock bottom. It’s the question a lot of people ask when they’re in a relationship, and it’s like ‘where was the point where you didn’t find me attractive anymore?’ It’s a universal feeling and an unusual word. A lot of people ask me about it and relate to it. And the world is not perfect right now. Unbeautiful seems like a realistic title for a lot of things that are happening.

BW: You worked with a lot of different songwriters and artists on this album. Will any guest artists end up on the album?

LR: My first album is just gonna be me, but on the second one i wouldn’t mind doing a duet or two with some male artists like Chris Daughtry — I think our vocals would work well together.

BW: You also worked with Katy Perry on this album!

LR: I did indeed! I worked with Katy on a song called “Slow Goodbye.” We had great fun. She’s a great writer, great girl. We get along great together. Her album’s doing amazingly right now. I’m so proud of her!

BW: Did she try to kiss you?

Lil Wayne stopped the show a few weeks back, Rihanna and Maroon 5 killed it on episode 3, and after watching Katy Perry rehearse for her FN performance tonight, it's looking like she's gonna take show-stealing to felonious new levels. Not that we play faves -- we love all of our FNMTV extra-special guests equally. That'd be like loving one Jonas Brother more than another. It's simply not done. (And speaking of the Jonas Brothers, um, they're gonna be on FNMTV next Friday, July 18, so remember that.)

Check out the all-star lineup for tonight's installment of FNMTV, tune in tonight -- that's Friday, July 11, at 8 p.m. ET/PT for those of you not keeping track — and check back soon for exclusive behind-the-scenes photos of a power-jacked LL Cool J, Daughtry (also jacked! dude looks like Vin Diesel, except not wack!) Katy Perry, She & Him (challenge: telling Katy and Zooey apart -- but one way to tell is by the ENORMOUS rock on Katy's left hand -- she may like kissing girls, but that ring came from a certain someone), the Game, and, of course, "your host," Pete Wentz.

Tonight's FNMTV video premieres:
Daughtry - "What About Now"
LL Cool J featuring the Dream- "Baby"
She & Him - "Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?"

+ More FN pix after the jump…

There's no denying the appeal of Rock Band, even to those who spend time on the stage for a living. Don't believe it? Check this out:

We're still totally exhausted from watching the American Idol season premiere … did it really need to be four hours spread over two nights? We like laughing at the crazy and crappy singers just as much as the next guy, but sometimes, as Chris Daughtry rightfully pointed out, it's a bit much. What we really get into is watching the top 12 duke it out and placing our bets on who will be crowned the next Idol. But does winning really mean anything anymore?

In recent weeks, past winners Taylor Hicks and Ruben Studdard and season 5 runner-up Katharine McPhee were all kicked to the curb by their record labels. For every Daughtry or Jennifer Hudson, there's a Justin Guarini or Constantine Maroulis or Diana DeGarmo or … well, you get the point. And, in last week's Entertainment Weekly, the show's executive producer clearly dissed all of the season 6 contestants, saying, "We had nobody outstanding." Um … we're guessing that this is news to Jordin Sparks and Blake Lewis, who better hope their albums pick up some serious sales momentum fast or they could be axed next.

As season 7 gets underway, we're wondering if there's another Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood waiting to be discovered. What do you think … is American Idol still the place to find gems or is it just a joke?

fergie_grammy.jpg

Fergie was amongst the short list of musicians who rose with the dawn this morning to announce the 50th Annual Grammy Award nominees. Fergie herself received one nomination -- Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Big Girls Don't Cry." And even though the show's nearly two months away (it airs Sunday, Feb. 10), we think the real winner is Spyro Gyra, the Susan Lucci of the music industry with 10 nominations, zero wins.

But seriously, can SOMEONE just give Kanye West another damn Grammy already? We think he's actually earned it with Graduation, but you know he's gonna try to hijack the mic, so he might as well walk off the stage with some metal.

Daughtry dropped by the TRL studio today to talk about their latest video, "Over You." The song is about getting over a painful break up, and singer Chris Daughtry said he wanted to go "deeper" than other videos have about the subject. Apparently that translates into using the house where Rob Zombie's movie The Devil's Rejects was filmed. The location provided the band with just enough grit and grunginess, or maybe too much … because guitarist Brian Craddock admitted to having "dirt coming out of" his nose long after filming ended. Seriously, ewww.

The band also revealed that they're just about ready to shoot their next video, "Feels Like Tonight," and have been writing their sophomore album while on the road. When asked what bands inspire him, bassist Josh Paul said -- in all seriousness -- that his biggest influence was New Edition, even admitting that every night before he goes onstage he sings the R&B/pop group's 1989 single, "Can You Stand the Rain."

We can't make this stuff up.
