GAH I just wanna squeeze those cute David Archuleta cheeks! Phew. Exhale. OK he's 20 now, so he can't really be considered a kid. But look at that punim! I can't help it! I get maternal! So sue me!
As cute as he may be, the "American Idol" alum's new sound is more mature as ever. After leaving Jive Records, Archuleta was reported to have been working overtime on his new material. Though "Everything And More," which premiered on a Singapore radio station this week, is not a particularly innovative ballad (weird, since he co-wrote it with Grammy-winning songwriter Victoria Horn), we do have to give Team Archie credit. He knows what works for him and rarely strays from his sweet spot. Even while on "Idol," David's best performances (probably The Beatles classic "Imagine" and Elton John's power ballad "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me") were centered around soft melodies and touching lyrics.
And if we know anything about Arch, it's that this is exactly the type of heartfelt and wholesome song genetically engineered to make us fall in love with him all over again.

When he beat out the precious David Archuleta to win the seventh season of "American Idol," David Cook momentarily proved that the show isn't necessarily fueled exclusively by puppy-dog-cute pop singers (although Cook isn't necessarily hard on the eyes, either). Unlike some other Idols, David has fared quite well as a rock singer -- his last album went platinum, and he's toured steadily -- even coming out of the same show that begat Sanjaya.
Now David Cook's returned with a second major-label album, This Loud Morning, featuring a new song called "The Last Goodbye." It's an instantly catchy, guitar-driven lamentation on love lost, with a drop of ornamental electro elements thrown in for good measure. And oh those "woah oh ohs." For the most part, though, the up-tempo slice of Americana brings to mind Angels & Airwaves and fellow "Idol" Kelly Clarkson.
We're used to "David Cook: Rock Star" sounding a bit more brooding with slower songs that fall into the soft rock arena, so it's pretty cool to hear something a little more fast-paced from the guy. It's definitely a contender for being one of the biggest rock songs of the summer, perfect for riding around with the top down.
What do you think of David's new song? Let us know in the comments!

Hi everyone! I am so excited to count down this week's hottest cyber-happenings, so let's not waste any time...
1.) Remember last week when I told you about Radiohead's new video for "Lotus Flower," featuring the interpretive dance stylings of lead singer Thom Yorke? Well, the WWW definitely heard me -- and ran with it. (Gammasquad)
(But Thom, if you're out there reading this: You look delicious.)
2.) British chanteuse Adele, she of the magnificent pipes and killer fashion sense, pretty much blew David Letterman's mind during her performance of "Rolling In The Deep" on the Late Show Monday night. (Idolator)
3.) Some guy named Justin Bieber, who apparently is really famous for his hair or something (?), got a haircut and it made the world end. (BuzzFeed)
4.) Lady Gaga has an official release date of Feb. 28 for her "Born This Way" video. Time to place your bets on whether she keeps with the prophylactic-inspired sartorial choices. (Buzzworthy)
5.) The Oscars are this weekend! In case you missed any of the 10 films nominated for best picture -- or perhaps some other 40 other films released last year -- this video will tidily spoil each of the endings for you. (Urlesque)
6.) Timmy, who became Internet famous for his rousing rendition of Ke$ha's "Tik Tok," is back with an adorable performance of Britney Spears' "Hold It Against Me," which would lead some to believe that he's Team Britney were it not for the LADY GAGA BRACELET he's wearing. (Mashable)
7.) You guys, Hipster Little Mermaid has been quietly assembling an army of Hipster Disney Princesses to remind the world that they are better than all of us. (Tumblr)
8.) Psychic Sylvia Brown says Michael Jackson is much healthier in the afterlife and Princess Di is really happy for William and Kate. Just an update. (PopEater)
9.) I'm not a gold digger or anything, but I mean, if you propose to your girlfriend in a mall food court, what did you really expect to happen? Gentleman, file this FAIL away for future reference. (Videogum)
10.) Proving once again that he is the world's most gracious loser, David Archuleta made a super poised and mature video blog about being dropped by his record label, Jive. (Perez Hilton)

It's true -- "American Idol" alum David Archuleta has been dropped by his record label, Jive Records. After his platinum-certified debut album David Archuleta sold nearly a million copies in 2008, his sophomore attempt The Other Side Of Down had trouble reaching that kind of status in 2010. But no need to get sad face emoticon about this, Dave. Same goes for you, Arch Angels. We'll tell you why.
First of all, you have a really cool nickname. Seriously, "Archie" is awesome! Think about all of the other famous Archies out there -- Archie Andrews of Archie comic fame (snoozefest); Archie Bunker, who only old people know anything about; and some random dog named Archie that has his own website. So it looks like you win in this category!
Second, a ton of other acts have been dropped by their record label before going on to do huge things. Ever heard of Katy Perry? What about Lady Gaga? Both of these ladies were dropped by their labels before, you know, taking over the entire world. Maybe you're just getting started!
Chin up, David Archuleta. You still have a ton of fans, a ton of Twitter followers, and you're almost old enough to go to Vegas. Hang in there. And when in doubt, always just listen to what Uncle Jay-Z does: "Go and brush your shoulders off."

The Internet has brought us many things; the ability to lurk former high-school crushes on Facebook, a random chance to talk with Ashton Kutcher on Chatroulettte, and chance to capture embarrassing footage of fans meeting their idols—and then endlessly forwarding the cringe-worthy clips to everyone in your address book.
To celebrate this time-honored tradition, we humbly present five of our favorite fan meltdowns—ever.
+ Justin Bieber Makes A 3-Year-Old Weep
We begin at the end—or with the most recent fan freakout. Nothing warms our heart more than watching this adorable 3-year-old child losing it over Justin Bieber. You can't really blame an exhausted toddler for not being in control of their emotions, but you can blame her family for posting her tantrum on the Internet. At least they had the decency to disable embedding!
+ The Passion Of David Archuleta Fans
These girls really, really, really wanted David Archuleta to win American Idol, so much so that they channeled the spirit of Edvard Munch's painting "The Scream." Truly legendary material here.
+ Tears Of A Clown—Er, A Really Emotional Sanjaya Admirer
We haven't seen waterworks at a live concert like this since The Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965. Watch in awe as this girl loses her mind during Sanjaya's legendary performance of Van Halen's take on The Kinks' "You Really Got Me."
+ If You Have To Cry, Go Outside
While waiting for Victoria Beckham to make an appearance at a Saks department store, this anonymous girl starts to well up, gets a little verklempt and then falls to pieces. Emotional clean up on aisle three!
+ Public Shame Award
This list wouldn't be complete without acknowledging the most beloved—and overwhelmed—Britney Spears fan of all time. man who started it all. The one and only, Chris Crocker.

Every time you turn around it seems like David Archuleta is doing something good for the world. Just last week, the American Idol sweetheart was in Miami performing "No Air" with Jordin Sparks at her annual charity concert.
Now comes news, via Just Jared Jr. that one of Archuleta's Arch Angels created a calendar that will help fight multiple sclerosis.
The calendar was created by photographer Jennifer Barry, who was inspired by Archie's performance of the song "Prayer of the Children" backstage at the Hope For Haiti Now benefit concert. The calendar is called "Be The Change," it's filled with great photos of Archuleta, and it's available at Qoop.com, with all proceeds benefiting Crush MS.
Please support this cause by picking up a copy of David's calendar -- they're $21, and again, all proceeds benefit Crush MS -- and be sure to check out his performance of "Prayer For The Children," below.

+ Continuing where the Hope For Haiti Now benefit album and telethon left off, BET is picking up the torch and will be airing its own fund raising show tonight. SOS: Saving Ourselves: Help For Haiti will be broadcast, from Miami, this evening at 8pm ET. Performers and participants include Drake, Mary J. Blige, Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo, Wyclef and Trey Songz. The event will be hosted by Pharrell Williams, Diddy and Queen Latifah. (MTV News)
+ In a recently posted video, the leading promoter of whiskey as an oral hygiene product, Ke$ha, appears to be defacing the legendary Hollywood sign to spell out "Ke$hawood." Some folks think it's a viral hoax. Why? Because those "Hollywood" letters are 45 feet tall and Ke$ha is not The Hulk. (Gawker)
+ Robin Thicke and Nicki Minaj played the Late Show With David Letterman last night. Two things are great about this. 1) Letterman's intro, getting all hot under the collar after stumbling through Thicke's album title ("Sex Therapy...The Experience? You don't need to tell me!"). 2) NICKI MINAJ WAS ON LETTERMAN LAST NIGHT. (Rap-Up)
+ Yesterday we ran a Buzz Bite about Taylor Swift's label head defending his artist against some post-GRAMMY backlash that had turned up in, among other places, The New York Times. In doing so, said label head, Scott Borchetta of Big Machine, made a sideways comment about the prefab pop stars of American Idol. You know who did not care for that? Kelly Clarkson did not care for that. And she blogged about it. (Rolling Stone)
+ If you ask anyone, they'll tell you I always say, 'When you can't get Chris Brown, get David Archuleta.' Jordin Sparks feels the same way, obviously. Archuleta sang the Chris Brown part of "No Air" with Sparks at the third annual Jordin Experience in Miami. (Idolator)
+ Here are some pictures of Snoop Dogg hanging out with Darth Vader in Times Square. You're welcome. (Pink Is The New Blog)

Happy 19th birthday, David Archuleta! It seems like just yesterday you were 18. Wait, you were 18 yesterday. Anyway, if I could give David Archuleta just one birthday gift, it'd be the gift of year-round Christmas. Because really, David kind of already makes it feel like Christmas all year, right?

He may have copped the silver medal in the American Idol Olympics, but David Archuleta is certainly a tried-and-true star. How do I know? Well, he has just gone through that great rite of passage that all successful singers eventually go through: he has released a Christmas album.
Christmas From The Heart is a nice run through some Christmasy hits ("Silent Night," "Joy To The World") as well as his famed take on "Ave Maria." No videos have been released for the holiday platter as of yet. But let's take a Christmas gander at a few Christmas music video tropes we're sure Archuleta will avoid:
+ Kenny G.'s "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" -- Two words: Soprano saxophones. Two more words: HELL NO.
+ Destiny's Child's "8 Days Of Christmas" -- Sexy Santa's helper costumes were kinda okay on Beyonce, to be avoided at all costs on Archie. (Though a Santa hat may or may not be fine.)
+ *NSYNC's "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" -- Justin Timberlake in "rockin' elf gear" was bad enough. But Gary Coleman? Pass.

Yay? Nay?
