Unless you're talking about Prince, most musical acts sound like somebody else--or at least people try to tell you they do. Like, when Muse started to get attention after appearing on the "Twilight Saga: Eclipse" soundtrack, everyone was all like, "They sound like Radiohead!" And I was all like, "Naw man, no one sounds like Radiohead!" But really, yeah, they do kind of sound like Radiohead.

So in the spirit of "this thing sounds like that thing," I present you the taxonomic breakdown of the musical influences of noise-pop outfit Sleigh Bells, before you can watch them on MTV.com's "Live In NYC" on Monday, Sept. 20.

1. Sleigh Bells Sound Like... Yeah Yeah Yeahs (or The Ting Tings)
Any time you have a band, or in this case a duo, fronted by a woman who can zero-to-60 from a loud, bitchy shout to a sweet, honey-dipped soprano, the Karen O comparisons are going to pour in. And Alexis Krauss, the female half of Sleigh Bells, has a vocal range that ranks right up there with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs frontwoman and The Ting Tings' leading lady, Katie White. Just check out Sleigh Bells' track "Infinity Guitars" and tell me if you don't pick up on a definite "That's Not My Name" feel.

2. Sleigh Bells Sound Like...M.I.A.
The track list on Sleigh Bells' debut album, Treats, ranges from pretty, straightforward Brooklyn indie pop, like on the dreamy "Rill Rill," to deliriously distorted stomp-clap anthems underscored by hip-hop beats that would find themselves right at home on an M.I.A. track. (That's thanks to the male half of Sleigh Bells, guitarist-producer Derek Miller.) For more on the latter, check out "Run the Heart," which sounds like it's being pumped out of broken computer speakers, and that's totally a good thing.

3. Sleigh Bells Sound Like... The White Stripes
No indie band worth its weight in flannel shirts can succeed without mastery of the lo-fi guitar riff--just ask Jack White. And there's plenty of fuzzed-out guitar lines leading the charge on Treats. Check out "Riot Rhythm" for a bratty jam that sounds like it's making fun of you. Again--a very good thing!

4. Sleigh Bells Sound Like... Björk
Here me out on this one. There is this drum-snap-clap sample on the Sleigh Bell's track "Tell 'Em" that I swear was inspired--if not all out borrowed--from "Jóga," the first single off Björk's 1997 album Homogenic. Anyone?

According to our "Eclipse" movie countdown clock, only 20 days, 12 hours, 48 minutes and 55 ... 54 ... 53 seconds until the third installment of the "Twilight Saga" is released in theaters.

We've already reserved our IMAX tickets, fluffed up our Edward Cullen body pillow and reread all of the books. But what are we supposed to wear on our feet to ensure MAXIMUM WOLF-LIKE SPEED when running to our seats? A pair of shoes designed by "Eclipse" star Boo Boo Stewart himself.

Stewart, who plays baby-faced Seth Clearwater -- part of Jacob's shape-shifter wolf pack -- collaborated with Graffeeti on his signature shoes, which are washable and come with pens so you can scribble your love for Team Edward on one shoe and Team Jacob on the other.

Get Boo Boo Stewart's shoes for $44.99 at Graffeeti.com.

One man at a piano? A gorgeous meadow? Explosive emotion? Does Muse have to spell out the Eclipse imagery for you in its new video "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)"? Well they do with the lyrical throughline "love is forever and we'll die together."

Again, the Eclipse symbolism and metaphor are hard at work here in Muse's new "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" video, the lead single off the Eclipse soundtrack (out June 8). If the theme of eternal love doesn't scream Eclipse from heights even higher than the cliff Bella foolishly dives from (oh, come on -- that's so not even a spoiler at this point), then scenes of Bella and Edward making out, wolves dashing about, Jacob looking brooding (and shirtless), Edward looking attractively perplexed and chiseled, and Dakota Fanning with those freaky red Jane eyes drive home that point.

Watch Muse's brand-new video, "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)" now!

If you're in a territory where you can't see this video, please go go to muse.mtv.com to check it out.

If you own a computer, there's no way you missed the fact that the track listing for the Eclipse soundtrack was just revealed. It reads like your cool cousin's iTunes "Recently Played" list. Florence + The Machine, Metric, Vampire Weekend, The Black Keys and more indie-rock-inspired artists and singles all add a musical element to the "Twilight" saga's third installment. And adding some serious music-cred gravity to the Eclipse soundtrack's offerings is Muse -- author Stephenie Meyer's favorite band. (And possibly yours too.)

Muse's contribution to the "Eclipse" soundtrack is a brand-new song, "Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)." And while "Twilight" and "New Moon" both featured Muse songs, "Eclipse" marks the first time Muse lent a brand-new song to the franchise's soundtrack.

The "Eclipse" soundtrack is out June 8, (though TRILLIONS of you obviously preordered it), but we've got a sneak peek of Muse's "Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)" video right here. Watch it and stay tuned for the video premiere on MTV.com Thursday, May 20.

Attention, Twi-hards! Your beloved literary goddess Stephenie Meyer has just announced the release of her latest novella, "The Short Second Life Of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella," so mark the following date on your calendar: June 5, 2010.

The 192-page tome will focus on the perspective of Bree Tanner, one of the newborn vampires in 'Eclipse,' who is killed so shortly after being introduced. Some might find it odd that Meyer decided to focus an entire book on a pretty minor character, but there's a method to Meyer's madness.

According to a statement on her official Web site, "I never intended to publish this story as a stand-alone book. I began this story a long time ago -- before 'Twilight' was even released. Back then I was just editing 'Eclipse,' and in the thick of my vampire world. I was thinking a lot about the newborns, imagining their side of the story, and one thing led to another. I started writing from Bree's perspective about those final days, and what it was like to be a newborn."

Now, before you cap that Sharpie, you'll probably want to circle a couple more dates: June 7-July 5. During that period, Miss Meyer will actually be offering the novella for free download on the book's official Web site. Amid all the excitement, try not to tear the head off your Edward Cullen body pillow. Haven't we seen enough bloodshed, people?

+ It's the Eclipse trailer! Taylor, K-Stew, R-Pattz, forbidden love, fangs, etc. The trailer for Twilight Saga: Eclipse is out! You can watch the preview for the David Slade-directed installment of the series above. Eclipse hits theaters on June 3. (MTV News)

+ While you're recovering from multiple viewings of the trailer, may we recommend some other, Kristen Stewart-based entertainment? Stewart visited The Tonight Show and talked about how she and Jett share several nervous tics. And if you haven't already, be sure to check out The Runaways music video "Cherry Bomb." (E! Online)

+ Perhaps making a subtle dig at John Mayer, who recently told Playboy about her combustible sexual prowess and her addictive qualities as a lover, Jessica Simpson has done some talking of her own, opening up to David Letterman about her affection for Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo. The Price Of Beauty star said, "I still look at his cute butt in the outfit — uniform." (PopEater)

+ If you ever wondered what 30 Seconds To Mars' music would look like if it were somehow transformed into articles of clothing, Buzznet is right there with you. They've put together a 30STM wardrobe for you to peruse. (Buzznet)

+ Because these kind of things make us all feel just a little bit better about ourselves, take yourself over to Dlisted and watch a stampede of women bum rush H&M in Paris to get their hands on Sonia Rykiel's collection for the store. Ah, Paris. (Dlisted)
