Yesterday, when we posted a Star Spotting photo of The Pretty Reckless frontwoman and "Gossip Girl" star Taylor Momsen leaving BBC's Radio 1, we kinda wondered what she got up to inside the studio.

Radio 1 often has artists drop by to perform informal, off-the-cuff cover versions of songs, and the results can often be stellar. Just see Gaslight Anthem's cover of Kelly Clarkson's "I Do Not Hook Up," for evidence.

Well it turns out off-the-cuff, informal covering of songs is exactly what Taylor Momsen was getting up to, as Taylor and her Pretty Reckless band ate Ben Phillips covered The XX's "Islands" and interpolated that sultry cut with Rihanna's chorus from Eminem's "Love The Way You Lie."

Dizzying, right? Real talk: TayMo actually nails it, finding the stranded, heartbroken throughline between the two songs. It's kind of surprising that Momsen included Rihanna's hook into her performance, considering she recently told SPIN Magazine, "People think pop is rock, and the lines are getting blurred. Now Rihanna's wearing f---ing leather jackets, and it's really annoying."

I guess Taylor got over it! Teenagers! So temperamental! Check out the song below.

It's hot outside. I know, I know. Captain Obvious, reporting for duty. But one thing that's always good for a cooldown is some really good, roll-your-windows-down rock. And that's exactly what we've got here with The Gaslight Anthem's new video, "American Slang."

The Gaslight Anthem excels at making punked-up Springsteen-leaning rock, with crashing guitars, huuuuge choruses and introspective, nostalgic lyrics.

This video, directed by Kevin Custer, pretty much sums up Gaslight's aesthetic: hats, tats and rock and roll. It's comprised largely of black-and-white images of the group making their way around New York City, interspersed with some performance footage of the the Jersey band rocking out on stage.

Check out the video below. American Slang is out now.

Following in the steps of Gaslight Anthem, Against Me and The Loved Ones, AM Taxi takes punk rock and gives it a Bruce Springsteen/blue-collar blood transfusion.

Set at an abandoned drive-in (how Springsteen is that?), the video for the group's song "Fed Up" follows the travails of a character named "Nikki," who gets herself into trouble because there's nothing else to do in the dead-end small town she's trapped in.

As we get some atmospheric footage of said Deadendsville, the Chicago band rips "Fed Up" apart, throwing themselves into the performance. By the end of the video, you'll likely be joining in on the chorus.

AM Taxi's debut album, We Don't Stand A Chance, is out now. Check out the video, as well a classic live take on "Atlantic City" by The Boss, both below.

New Jersey's Gaslight Anthem can cover a song like it's their job: Live, the emo-goes-classic-rock four-piece have been known to take a shot at Pearl Jam's Singles soundtrack classic, "State Of Love And Trust," and Bruce Springsteen's "I'm On Fire," capturing the soul of the original while leaving an indelible stamp of their own making.

On a recent trip to England, as they tirelessly promote their phenomenal 2008 release, The '59 Sound, Gaslight Anthem stopped by BBC Radio One to do an acoustic session. The performance has been trickling out online, and the highlight, by far, is singer/guitarist Brian Fallon's solo take on Kelly Clarkson's "I Do Not Hook Up."

Flipping the gender roles of the Kara DioGuardi co-penned song, Fallon finds the Springsteen-ian soul of Clarkson's girl-power jam. The way he delivers "Oh, sweetheart, put the bottle down/You've got too much talent/I see you through those bloodshot eyes/There's a cure, you've found it" sounds like it could've been ripped from The Boss' classic Nebraska album.

Check out the cover below.
