If you like your pop music with a bit of A.D.D., a ton of genres, a lot of humor, and, generally, a bit of attitude, then meet Neon Hitch. You're gonna love her.
Neon Hitch is a London-based artist (and one-time roommate of Amy Winehouse) who is the newest star in producer Benny Blanco's constellation.
You may not know Benny Blacno's name, but you certainly know his sound. The songwriter/producer has been on a heck of a roll recently, having a hand in hits by Katy Perry, Ke$ha, 3Oh!3 and more. Call it "trash(ed)-pop." It's extravagant, punky, genre-hopping party music.
Neon Hitch, who did writing work on Ke$ha's newest smash, "Blah Blah Blah," is something of an oddball in this crowd of 24-hour party people. Recently signed to Warner Bros. by American Idol judge, Kara DioGuardi, her vocals, on songs like "Blow Ur House Down," (which you can hear at her MySpace) are reminiscent early Erykah Badu, and her music incorporates the very in-vogue sound of dubstep (a sound that heavily influenced Rihanna's Rated R), along with heavy rock guitars and techno pulse that characterizes much of Blanco's production.
While she and Blanco work on her debut album, possibly titled Beg, Borrow And Steal, you can hear Neon Hitch collaborating with 3Oh!3 on the song "Follow Me Down," from the upcoming Alice In Wonderland kind-of soundtrack, Almost Alice.
+ Listen to Neon Hitch and 3Oh!3, "Follow Me Down," here.

If the name Jason Derulo doesn't sound like any hitmaker you know, then you're not one of the 15 million MySpace listeners the 20-year-old R&B chart-crusher claims. And you must not own a radio.
Jason Derulo's "Whatcha Say" track, produced by J.R Rotem, samples (and by "samples," I mean, "uses the entire refrain of") Imogen Heap's "Hide And Seek," but Jason pulled from his own brother's adulterous confessions when he penned the song. While it's unclear how Jason Derulo's brother feels about this kind of publicity, his little brother's a star -- "Whatcha Say" hit the number 1 spot on the iTunes Top 200 Songs at the end of September.
Thanks in part to some label signage by Kara DioGuardi (they rode to the VMAs together) we can expect a debut album from Jason soon enough. Get a hint of Jason Derulo's musical background on his MySpace with "Strobe Light," which you can expect to hear in the MTV movie Turn The Beat Around come 2010.
Watch Jason Derulo with Beluga Heights signee IYAZ on the VMA red carpet, and watch the source of his "Whatcha Say" inspiration -- Imogen Heap's "Hide And Seek" video. And watch for more Jason Derulo coming soon!

I took Buzzworthy on the road the other night -- and by "on the road," I mean 11 blocks south -- to the G-Star Raw Spring 2010 show at New York Fashion Week, where I caught up with Gabe Saporta on the red carpet (which he walked with Kara DioGuardi!)
We chatted about the VMAs, and invariably, about Taylor Swift and Kanye's big interruption. Here's what Gabe had to say about Kanye Gate -- "Kanye's crazy! It means he likes you!" and being Team Taylor. (And about looking TOTALLY Don Draper at the VMAs.)

I'll say it: 24-year-old Colbie Caillat has her proverbial sh+t together. But she didn't just stumble into tranquility -- Colbie called her sophomore album Breakthrough for a reason. And it ended up being fortuitous; it just debuted at No. 1. Still, Colbie had some hurdles to make it over before she could get to "soaking up life" in Hawaii and barbecuing with Kara DioGuardi and Jason Reeves.
In addition to enrolling in songwriting boot camp, the "Bubbly" singer endured a miserable sinus infection and (well, this is a good problem to have) a tough choice between three different productions for her lead single, "Fallin' For You." Colbie also conquered her most challenging obstacle -- her own insecurity as a performer. As she so beautifully puts it, "I am finally in love with what I do."

+ Kelly Clarkson and Joe Jonas plan to be celebrity judges on an upcoming episode of American Idol. When you first saw that Jessie James was opening for the Jonas Brothers, were you also like "WHY must I endure a motorcycle demo by the stony, tattooed Mr. Sandra Bullock while waiting to see the Jonas Brothers?" Was anyone else surprised to discover that this Jessie James is a five-foot, X-tina-gone-country knock-out. (And, yes, this 21-year-old singer is a JessIE, unlike the Celebrity Apprentice contestant or the Wild West bank robber.)
But how did this self-proclaimed Army brat from Georgia score an opening gig on the Jonas Brother's summer tour? Here are five good reasons Jessie James should be on -- and stay on -- your radar.
1. The Girl Actually Writes Her Own Music And Actually Hustles
Jessie gets respect not just for co-writing tracks on her debut album (which comes out July 28), which includes the Carrie-Underwood-would-cut-a-b+tch-for-this number "Wanted," co-written by Kara DioGuardi (the OTHER Idol judge!). But Jessie's also been hard at work on a radio station tour... albeit a kinda D-list one, but that's how you make it, girl...
Jessie is an immediately competent singer (even in a T-shirt and Uggs), and as a career woman she's hungry; look for another single, "Bullet," co-written by one Katy Perry, on Jessie's horizon ... Wait, did Kelly Clarkson just call?
2. She's Hybrid Country
I need a chaser with my country music, and Jessie's sultry, Aguilera-esque belt goes beyond Reba and into dance and hip-hop territory, a hybrid Jessie lovingly dubs "hick-hop" (not kidding). Listen to "Blue Jeans" -- it was in Confessions of a Shopaholic, if it sounds familiar -- for some surprising funk... and fun zipper sound effects.
3. She's Got an Edge, And a Healthy Ego
She may not tune up motorcycles like Mr. Bullock, but Jessie has an intense Megan Fox moment in her "Wanted" music video. Someone turn the hose on her! Jessie also posed for a bomb spread in Maxim and admits she cleans her house "nekkid." Always on time for Sunday church, though!
Jessie will also be the first to tell you how talented she is -- and that "when she blows up," she'll be getting those "Blue Jeans" for free! Hey, it takes a certain confidence to pitch your songs to L.A. Reid as a teenager, so again, don't hate her for hustling, because that's how you end hanging out backstage with Nick, Kevin, and Joe.

FACTS (that you probably already know):
+ Cobra Starship, Kevin Rudolf and American Idol's Kara DioGuard wrote "Good Girls Go Bad" together, and then Leighton Meester (BLAIR!) jumped in on the vocals!
+ Gabe Saporta's a HUGE Gossip Girl fan.
+ AND Leighton Meester's on Gossip Girl!
+ Together, Gabe and Leelee (she told me to call her that) would have very beautiful children... But they don't have time for that right now, because their "Good Girls Go Bad" video, in which Leighton plays a hot but meanie New York City club owner -- meanwhile, Cobra owns the deli upstairs; don't you love it? -- is almost ready.
+ The "Good Girls Go Bad" video isn't out yet (it's a fact!), but Buzzworthy's got an exclusive "Good Girls Go Bad" sneaky peeky video preview, including behind-the-scenes stuuuufff, interviews, hanging meat, dice, and more. Watch it below. IT'S A TRUE FACT!
+ Plus: Check out photos of Leighton Meester at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards. And, watch an exclusive Buzzworthy COBRA CAM video!
