Kat DeLuna has always had an around-the-way girl charm. Her early hits like "Whine Up" and "Run The Show" present her as a gal next door -- approachable and fun. But this awesome video for her new single, "Push Push," reinvents Kat as a dance diva. And we applaud that!
Directed by Hank Friedman and featuring Akon, "Push Push" features many Kat DeLunas, as the singer performs the pulsating dance track in a house of mirrors with choreography reflecting a real Busby Berkeley (old-time Hollywood director) influence.
The song itself is about Kat urging on a would-be suitor to step his game up. But honestly, when dealing with so many Kats and so many costume changes and so much Akon, it's almost besides the point.
Kat's Inside Out album is due out this year.

The first thing you may happen to notice about Kat DeLuna's "Push Push" is how, well, Lady-like it is. Now I'm not saying that the Dominican pop-singer is biting Lady Gaga's style (never that), but it definitely sounds like she might be studying Gaga's playbook a bit. Let's break it down.
"Push Push," the first single from DeLuna's Inside Out album (no official release date on that yet), starts out with some "oh-oh-oh's" that wouldn't sound out of place on a Gaga record. The pulsing keyboards that mate pop melodies with dancefloor dynamics mirror Gaga backing tracks like "Bad Romance," and even the dancefloor-as-emotional-landscape lyrical motif is very Lady. And, of course, Akon's on "Push Push," and Gaga and Akon have history.
To be fair, DeLuna's connection is way more sincere than just simply trying to cop what's hot. Her debut album, 2007's 9 Lives, was actually produced by Gaga's go-to producer, RedOne. So there's definitely some history there too. "Push Push" was produced by Radio, but it still contains some of RedOne's signature sounds.
Despite all the above hand wringing, "Push Push" is a pretty sultry piece of dance pop. So what do you think? Let us know in the comments! And while you're at it, have at Kat's 2007 video for "Whine Up."

+ UPDATE: Check out video from Richie Rich's show below, courtesy of Sarah Conley! And yes, that IS Pam Anderson at the end...
Oh hai! So, I was illin' like a villain all day, but I got an invite to Richie Rich's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week show -- Richie Rich is half of what was (weep! RIP!) Heatherette, who were part of the original New York club kids when you were still in diapers, and they made Teyana Taylor's dress for her Super Sweet 16 debut, and they were the also the reason (besides Dolly Parton) that sequins and rhinestones were invented -- and realized I'd be a complete idiot to pass that up. (For reference, that's Richie in the photo all the way at the bottom, me [hi!], and Traver Rains of Heatherette at the Heatherette for MAC event last year.)
So I rallied for the cause and headed up to the Waldorf-Astoria (ridick and kinda gross), where a prissy lady in the lobby raised a brow when I walked by in my vintage '80s bicycle sweater. Um, apparently she hadn't noticed the drag queen deluge pouring in. It was total and absolute gayhem, which is a super-fun term I just made up! Anyway, the Richie Rich show was '90s amazing!
Even though it was his Fall '09 line, that didn't stop him from sending a model down the runway in a teensy weeny animal print bikini. Or sending Aubrey O'Day out in a hot pink frock. (And if you've been keeping up with Fashion Week, neons are back back back! Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors and Narciso, oh my! Not to mention, the Stephen Sprouse windows lighting up the Louis Vuitton store on Fifth Ave... ) Or opening the show with a live performance by Kat DeLuna! Or closing the show with Pamela Anderson in a gold lamé thong after Amanda Lepore ripped the runway. Yes. That happened. Anyway, the Richie Rich touch always = the most fashion fun in the world, so thanks, Richie (indirectly at least) for having me! Oh yeah, and I met Justin Tranter of Semi Precious Weapons (and he was on MADE -- the one where Michelle becomes a bassist) before the show started, and he was a gorgeous doll.
And for you keeping track on the Buzzworthy Twitter, here's a shot of Teyana Taylor, who was there in a bad-ass sequined majorette hat! (@Sk8Boardsqueez -- sorry, I was wrong -- when she first walked by I thought it was a little porkpie hat, but it was definitely no T-Pain hat!) She was so excited when I told her MTV fans on Twitter were excited that she was there in a suh-weet hat, and she was rocking the Wonder Woman hair again like she was at the MAC x Hello Kitty event the other week. And below that, though it's self-explanatory, that's Ice-T and wife Coco, who also attended the show. Coco was wearing a lot of clothes! For her.
Anyway, I'm the sure The Cut blog will have pix of Richie Rich's show. The Cut has been killing it, BTW -- they even got a severe close-up of Kanye's nub at the Alexandre Herchcovitch show. Thanks, guys!

Sex with producers. Partying too much. Throwing rockstar-sized temper tantrums. Ghost whispering to dead siblings. Hitting the stage stage in tears.
Was this the premiere episode of Kaya, or was it a Britney Behind the Music? Aside from some salaciously close-to-real-life drama, the show also features some top-shelf music. Particularly of note was the song "Guns Guns Guns" by LA's Dirty Little Secret, the under-the-radar collective seen in the photo above. Although once you've produced known indie-rock quantities like Giant Drag, it's hard to call yourself a secret anymore.
And since the secret is out, you may as well get the whole story. Check their Myspace profile for the full scoop…and possibly more photos featuring gratuitous gold lamé.
Here's what else you heard on episode 101 of Kaya:
Crossing Coldwater, "Everybody Wants to Be Me"
Fergie, "Glamorous"
Kat DeLuna featuring Elephant Man, "Whine Up"
Maroon 5, "Makes Me Wonder"
And, because you're a friend of Buzzworthy, here's an esssstra little something: a free MP3 of Crossing Coldwater's "Everybody Wants to Be Me Now." Don't say we never gave you anything.

 Kat DeLuna performs "Whine Up"
Earlier today we had a nice little midday break we thought we'd share. Dominican firecracker Kat DeLuna dropped by our Times Square office to celebrate the one-year anniversary of our Latino network, MTV Tr3s, with a sizzling performance. After Sucker Free Latino host L. Boogs introduced the audience to the network's latest VJ, Karli of Karlifornia, it was showtime.
Dressed in denim short shorts, a white tank top and some slamming Air Jordans, DeLuna did her thing for little ol' us during what she called "the Kat DeLuna show." One of our conference rooms was literally transformed into a dance club complete with a DJ, an MC and tons of people (we even spotted our VJ Sway checkin' out the show). It was so loud, our ears are still ringing!
With two backup dancers in tow, Kat shook her booty through three songs off her album 9 Lives, starting off with a bang with her hit "Whine Up." She called her next song, "Run the Show" -- which she dedicated to all "us ladies" in the house 'cause, you know, we "run the show" -- "saucy, cute and energetic." Then, for her finale, she performed "Animal," which she said "really, really, really defines me. If I want something, I'm gonna go grab it, like an animal going after its prey." And she wasn't kidding, her fancy footwork was accompanied by a lot of pretend scratching, snarling and possibly some new mating rituals (like getting humped by her two female backup dancers). The performance was short but sweet … but one thing's for sure, that girl sure knows some crazy dance moves! We gotta start bringing earplugs to work, though…

Here's that new mating ritual we were talking about!
