Kristin Cavallari, Katy Perry, and Amber Rose picked up Buzzworthy Fashion Awards for the silvery spectacles and primal get-ups they wore to the 2009 VMAs. Now see which fashion honors Buzzworthy has bestowed upon Madonna, Olivia Palermo, Hayley Williams and more celebs for their VMA style!

MOST COMMANDING: TIE! MADONNA & OLIVIA PALERMO
Some stars like Amerie and Cassie opted for full-on color on the VMA red carpet. Madonna and Olivia Palermo, who wore Susan Woo, commanded the carpet in head-to-toe black. How New York of them.
+ Watch Olivia Palermo on the VMA red carpet.
+ Watch Madonna open the VMAs with a tribute to Michael Jackson.

ALL-AROUND CUTEST: HAYLEY WILLIAMS
THANK you, Hayley Williams. See, THIS is how you dress for the VMAs. When I chatted with Hayley inside of Radio City that night, she told me that Katy Perry told her about Jeremy Scott, who designed the LP-inspired skirt she's wearing. Hayley's vintage-rock look is spot-on perfect for the VMAs. It's youthful but not ridiculous, fun and dressed up (especially with those heels and the bright pop of color from her lipstick), but it's not over-the-top. Ahhhdorbs.

HOTTEST, MOST MAD MEN-INSPIRED GUY: GABE SAPORTA
Gabe Saporta + Balenciaga = Yeah you did.
+ Watch Cobra Starship on the VMA red carpet.
+ Watch Gabe introduce Lady Gaga's performance at the VMAs.
+ Watch Gabe discuss his VMA Mad Men style.

COOLEST THING COVERING SOMEONE'S BOOB: PINK
The sparkly pink heart covering Pink's boob during her death-defying performance of "Sober" was just one of the coolest elements of her jaw-dropping performance. I don't know what that heart thing was, but I kind of want one to stick on my laptop.
+ Watch Pink perform "Sober" at the VMAs.

MOST REFLECTIVE/ SELF-REFLEXIVE: TIE! ADRIENNE BAILON & BEYONCE
Get it? GET IT? Because Adrienne, in a Stephen Sprouse dress, used to be in the Cheetah Girls, and Beyonce's wearing mirrors!
+ Watch Beyonce's "Single Ladies" VMA performance.

MOST THOUGHTFUL TRIBUTE TO FALLEN HOMIES: TIE! KID SISTER & DJ PREMIER
Buzzworthy idol Kid Sister took her red carpet fashion opportunity to pay tribute to the late Aaliyah, wearing in a shirt she bought on Aaliyah.com. Later that night at Lyor Cohen's VMA after party, DJ Premier (pictured with DJ Cassidy) remembered DJ AM by wearing a t-shirt with a photo of them together.
+ Watch Kid Sister discuss her amazing nails on the VMA red carpet.

MOST CASUAL FRIDAY ON SUNDAY: TIE! BRENT BOLTHOUSE & ANDY SAMBERG
Lazy Sunday? More like casual Friday. Brent Bolthouse kept it biznass casual like a BAWSE in Vans on the VMA red carpet, and Andy Samberg was his usually perfectly-bedheaded-and-a-little-unkempt-but not-in-a-way-that-he-smells-and-I-wish-all-guys-dressed-like-this self. I digress.

MOST LIKELY TO BE SEEN SPREAD OUT ON TOP OF A CAR ON HER MYSPACE: AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL'S JADE COLE
I mean, I'm just sayin'...

Need a break from all that Kanye Kraziness? (Wait? Did you make your own Kanye apology via the Kanye Apology Generator yet? OMG! Do it!) Check out this photo of Lady Gaga backstage at the 2010 Marc Jacobs Spring show at the NY State Armory in New York City on September 14. Gaga's jeweled mask and fluffy colored wig are fully and fearlessly Dame Edna!

Gaga was wearing a demure black dress cut up to her neck and a modest white jacket to the Marc Jacobs show -- ironically, Gaga was taking in a show that experts say she inspired -- where Gags met Madonna for the very first time ever!

Lady Gaga's black-and-white outfit was completely conservative considering she performed later that night in a totally see-through red lace bodysuit -- similar to the red lace outfit she wore the VMAs -- with only a G-string to cover her Gaga parts. OMGaga!

Madonna's new "Celebration" video, off her upcoming greatest hits album, is a celebration of everything textbook Madonna -- gyrating, crotch-diddling, Boy Toying (actually, cougaring, in this case), hypnotic street dancing, and full-speed-ahead fashion, specifically Madonna's so-on-trend-it-hurts over-the-knee Louboutin boots and black studded Balmain dress from the 2009 Ready To Wear collection.

Now even if you're not Madonna (wait, you're NOT sleeping with Jesus Luz, who also appears in the video, along with Lourdes, who's in that great Ashish outfit and recreates Madonna's "Like A Virgin" white wedding look) and you're not ballin' on a Balmain budget, you can still rock the studded black mini. Here are a few MTV Buzzworthy Blog style picks.

Left to right: See By Chloe, $366, FarFetch.com; See By Chloe, $427, LuisaViaRoma.com; Topshop, $210 Topshop.com; $28 USD, Missguided.co.uk.

Lourdes just over a year old when Madonna went to the 1995 MTV VMAs, yet already Madonna had the stern scolding thing down to art. And that matronly voice of authority would come in handy at the VMAs that night, when she had to lay the smack down on (a possibly not-so-sober, if I may be so suggestive) Courtney Love, who completely and totally hijacked her VMA red carpet interview with Kurt Loder.

Watch this vintage VMA video -- it's long, but it's a great from the crate, and it's totally worth it to revel in Madonna and Courtney's bitter exchange, which ends in Madonna killing a dangerously bottomless Courtney with kindness. (Albeit that rare Madonna brand of bitchy kindness.) And to watch Courtney throw a powder compact into the interview pit. And to watch Courtney Love and Madonna's fashion turf war. And to watch Courtney Love's SUPER awkward exchange with Tabitha Soren. And to watch Courtney Love ramble on and on about Michael Stipe, ambulance drivers, astrophysics, and Birkenstocks. And to watch Courtney slither and writhe around on the ground. There's even a weird exchange about Alanis Morisette. Every time I watch it, I discover a new gem, though my favorite is "Courtney Love is in dire need of attention right now." And Madonna's inability to decide upon mock-British accent or Jersey Girl. (So she goes with both.)

Taste the faux sincerity. Enjoy the crazy.

+ Don't miss the 2009 VMAs live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday, September 13 at 9pm!

+ Let's face it -- it's old news that Avril Lavigne's marriage to Sum41 frontman Deryck Whibley may be on the rocks for a while now, but this new report seems to seal the deal, don't it? (WWTDD?)

+ BEYONCE will perform at the 2009 VMAs! But you knew that, right? (MTV News)

+ Wait... is Jordin Sparks NOT INVITED to Kevin Jonas' wedding? (Confidential to Kevin -- Register at Bed  Bath & Beyond. They let you return EVERYTHING for cash! Oh wait...  You don't need casth.) (MTV News)

+ We've always been a huge fan of Shania Twain... from her personal story of tragedy and triumph, to her cheesefest lyrics and catchy hooks, everything about her is absolutely perfect. So when news broke that she was getting a divorce from her longtime companion and producer Robert "Mutt" Lange, it seems like the earth stood still! But talk about a huge slap in a dirty dog's face: Shania is engaged to the guy whose wife cheated on him with Shania's hubster! To quote my favorite movie-turned-TV-show, Heathers, "Lick it up, baby. LICK. IT. UP." (Star Magazine)

+ Here's Rihanna doing the September 2009 cover of Italian Vogue, looking nothing like herself whatsoever. (ICYDK)

+ Madonna was briefly booed at a concert in Bucharest last night, after bringing up the issue of discrimination against "gypsies," Eastern Europe's most socially and economically disadvantaged minority. (E! Online)

+ If early reviews are correct, Whitney Houston looks like she's on track to get a Grammy for her most recent album of work (her first in seven years). And it's not even available for sale yet! (Rap-Up)

+ In case you were wondering what it was like to be in Times Square with Britney Spears during Monday's Twitter scavenger hunt, check this out. Totally reminds us of TRL, circa 1998. PS -- I DEFINITELY went to Brit's show last night, and it was nothing short of fan-effing-tastic. (BritneySpears.com)

First of all, if you don't believe in the magic that just a little Scotch Tape can create, then you're reading the wrong blog. John Roberts (the guy with tape on his face) is a comedic genius. Seriously. What's more recession-friendly than some Scotch tape and a crap-ass wig? (And if I had a buck for the NUMBER of times a day I get to hear Travis say "I had half a sip of a wine cooler, Jackie," I'd be living in some shady-ass manse on Star Island.)

Next, here's what Alexa wore today on It's On With Alexa Chung, which also featured the effervescent Colbie Caillat!

Tuesday, August 25
+ Dress: ba & sh
+ Necklaces: Iosselliani & Pretty Little Thing

Alexa found the Ba & Sh dress she wore today at a boutique in Paris, but you can get the Anna Sui-meets-Mara Hoffman/ Little Punk On The Prairie look with these floral dresses. They're very Madonna in "Live To Tell." This Free People floral dress is $138 at ShopBop.com.

Love this watercolor floral dress. But I don't know why the model looks all mad at me. It's like do you WANT me to buy it or not? I'm just browsing. I didn't steal anything. God. Anyway, it's by Tucker, and it's $228 at Shopbop.com.

Ballin' on a budget? Hi! This floral romper's just $14.99 at UrbanOutfitters.com. Can't beat it with a stick.

I've been privy to a bit of private info about the 2009 MTV VMAs, but a makeout session between VMA presenter Katy Perry and VMA performer Pink isn't in the script... YET. But it looks like no one told Russell Brand. Fortunately, there's still time to make that work before the VMAs happen live on Sunday, September 13.

Plus, far more outlandish things have happened at VMAs past -- like the first-ever VMAs in 1984, when Madonna humped the stage at Radio City Music Hall (welcome back, MTV!), or the time Grandma Madonna kissed Britney. And Christina Aguilera. Or when Diana Ross grabbed Li'l Kim's "boob" back in 1999.

+ Watch 2009 VMA host Russell Brand dance around like a cheeky chimney sweep in his "VMA Side Story" "Tonight" promo.

Vom.

+ Because Justin Timberlake doesn't have nearly enough to do (running clothier William Rast, golfing, making tequila, owning a BBQ restaurant in NYC, and CERTAINLY the most time-consuming thing: dating Jessica Biel!), an obvious next step would be to do an ad campaign for the Givenchy fragrance "Play." Holla for a dolla! (Popbytes)

+ NYC Police are preparing for the worst when rapper 50 Cent holds a "surprise" free concert in late August in the Queens neighborhood where he grew up. (NY Post)

+ Anyone in the mood for some new Weezer? We are too -- the band just announced their new single will drop on August 25. And if ya look real hard, it might just be floatin' around on the GooTube. (NME)

+ Will someone please tell me why Madonna is swimming in boxing trunks and a basketball jersey? (DrunkenStepfather)

+ Celeb feuds are as old as 'The Hills,' and Perez Hilton is usually the cause. This week, Ashlee Simpson told the Queen of Pink where he can stick it (and we're pretty sure it's a dark, dark place, devoid of all life), after meddling in her and hubby Pete Wentz' drunken affairs. (Cele|bitchy)

+ And speaking of Twitter, you'll be surprised to learn that Robert Pattinson does NOT like Twitter...(PopEater)

+ ...probably because people catch him maaaaaaybe kissing his maaaaaaaaybe girlfriend and co-star Kristen Stewart. (MTV News)

+ Julian Casablancas, lead singer of The Strokes, plans to launch his debut solo record with an over-the-top tour, Disney-style. As in he'll ride a pole like Miley? We might actually be intrigued by that. (NME)

+ Happy 1st Birthday to The JoBros A Little Bit Longer album, which turned out to be a HUGE trending topic in the Twitterverse today. (Twitter)

+ If you had enough money (or assistants) to get multiple hair extensions glued to your head on a daily basis, you would probably take care of them or at the very least brush them once in a while, right? Then tell us WHYYYYYY Britney seems to go out of her way to make her hair extensions look as obvious (and obviously not washed) as possible? If anyone is within reach, would you please just shake her?? Thanks. (The Blemish)

+ Oh -- and in case you're wondering how Britney's looking so good in a bikini (with those tracks covered up by a huge hat), it comes in a box and is delivered to her door/tour bus. And it's not crack. (ICYDK)

+ With a new album on the way, Janet Jackson is ready for another new look (no, it's not a new pair of Juicy Couture sweatpants). The question is, are you ready? (Bossip)

+ Also, did you know Ryan Gosling has a band? Listen to this song off his forthcoming debut album and see what you think. Sounds like Elvis, Jeff Buckley, and Johnny Cash. Kinda? (PopSugar)

+ Kelly Osbourne is looking very "True Blue" Madonna these days. "Likes this." (Popsquire)

+ Wanna hear the new track "Celebration" off Madonna's new compilation CD that hasn't hit stores yet? Check it. (Towleroad)

+ Green Day and P!nk were announced today as scheduled performers at the 2009 MTV VMAs. If P!nk brings anything like what she brought last year, this year's show will be amazing. (MTV News)

+ As we all know by now, Demi Lovato is this week's Billboard star, taking the number one spot. What is surprising is how mediocre sales for Jordin Sparks' new CD were. (Evil Beet)

+ Kanye West helped himself to a tall glass of crazy, recently proclaiming himself as the new King of Pop. (Bitten & Bound)

+ Miley Cyrus is making a Twitter MESS of herself, tweeting this and that about love and missing people. Close up shop, lady. Close. Up. Shop! (Anything Hollywood)

+ Lily Allen is starting up her own jewelry line? Exactly what we needed. (Holy Moly!)
