It being a Tuesday afternoon, you, dear reader, are likely in a post-lunch food coma. So we thought we'd make that food coma positively hallucinogenic by directing your attention to "Expecting To Fly," a totally trippy new video from Metric.

A little background info. Metric is a Canadian indie-rock band fronted and fueled by the charismatic presence of frontwoman Emily Haines. This long-running group, with tangential ties to Broken Social Scene, makes nervy, New Wave-ish pop. A good place to start is their '09 album, Fantasies, which features standout songs like "Gold Gun Girls" and "Satellite Minds."

"Expecting To Fly" is a cover of a song by the seminal classic rock band, Buffalo Springfield, which featured legendary older dudes Neil Young, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash. Metric's cover of the track is sort of atypical for them; it's a piano-driven dirge, full of dreamy atmosphere, sort of reminiscent of Mazzy Star.

The video, directed by Christopher Mills, really ups the dreamy factor. We see a collage of imagery, one blurring into the next. It's sure to make your post-lunch daze that much more memorable.

"Expecting To Fly" is available on Metric's iTunes Session. Check out Metric's video for "Expecting to Fly," here.

Lions! Tigers! Bears! Oh, my!

Metric, one of our favorite bands on the Eclipse soundtrack, gives new meaning to the phrase "girls gone wild" in its new video for "Stadium Love," off the album Fantasies.

Wild animals frolic while the band performs from within a cage, which is probably a subtle social commentary that also happens to look awesome. During the 4-minute clip, hippos rage at each other, preternaturally attractive singer Emily Haines flirts with a lion and drummer Joules Scott-Key tackles the question, "Is that a snake in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?"

(The answer: It's actually a snake. Bummer.)

Watch the video for Metric's "Stadium Love" below. Fantasies is out now.

If you own a computer, there's no way you missed the fact that the track listing for the Eclipse soundtrack was just revealed. It reads like your cool cousin's iTunes "Recently Played" list. Florence + The Machine, Metric, Vampire Weekend, The Black Keys and more indie-rock-inspired artists and singles all add a musical element to the "Twilight" saga's third installment. And adding some serious music-cred gravity to the Eclipse soundtrack's offerings is Muse -- author Stephenie Meyer's favorite band. (And possibly yours too.)

Muse's contribution to the "Eclipse" soundtrack is a brand-new song, "Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)." And while "Twilight" and "New Moon" both featured Muse songs, "Eclipse" marks the first time MuseĀ lent a brand-new song to the franchise's soundtrack.

The "Eclipse" soundtrack is out June 8, (though TRILLIONS of you obviously preordered it), but we've got a sneak peek of Muse's "Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever)" video right here. Watch it and stay tuned for the video premiere on MTV.com Thursday, May 20.

I don't know about you, but I'm a sucker for band merch -- and the weirder, the better. I love it when groups get creative and think outside the black T-shirt box. I was particularly impressed by the following wacky pieces of band merch. Start stretching, because you and your credit card are in for quite a workout. Plus, check out more consumer goodness after the jump!

1. Metric water bottleĀ ($14): Dancing up a storm works up quite a thirst. Thankfully, Metric offers these handy -- and eco-friendly -- water bottles so you can hydrate while you express your "Stadium Love."

Today, Alexa's friend Kelly Osbourne stopped by and admonished an audience member for hooking up with a guy who's already got a girlfriend (you tell 'em, Kelly!), Ugly Betty's sweet little Mark Indelicato stopped by, and Metric (!!!) performed live. Oh! And Alexa hopped into a tub! But most importantly, here's what Alexa wore today on It's On With Alexa Chung.

Tuesday, July 14
+ Dress:
Vintage.
+ Shoes: Luella.

The mini dress Alexa wore today is vintage, which means you're never getting it. But she's a fan of both long-sleeved mini dresses and Alexander Wang. And looky what I found. It's doesn't have mini flowers, but being as picky as you are will get you nowhere. Anyway, I will stalk this Alexander Wang black long-sleeved mini dress until the day it goes on sale for $20. Which will be never. It's $550 at Shopbop.com.

And check out this simple criss-cross back black dress. It's $49.99 from Jane's Closet.

Can you even with these chunky-heeled Vince Camuto Mary Janes? They're $91 at Zappos.com.

But if you're buying, I'd also swoop in on these stiletto-heeled double-strapped patent leather Mary Janes by Carvela.

Also, if you're in the market for a super pointy-shouldered jacket like Kelly Osbourne's, check out Mexican design duo Teamo's wares:

Lastly, here's Metric performance of "Help, I'm Alive" from today's episode of It's On With Alexa Chung.

Which would you rather be: The Beatles or The Rolling Stones? Canadian new-wave indie mainstays Metric pose the biggest question of the past 40 years in their new single, "Gimme Sympathy."

Their answer -- which you'd think would be implied in the title, as it simultaneously references two Rolling Stones songs ("Gimme Shelter" and "Sympathy For The Devil") -- is confused by the fact that the lyrics contain the line Come on baby play me something/ like "Here Comes The Sun." So what's the answer? Who would you rather be?

Either answer plays perfectly into the title of Metric's latest album, Fantasies, which debuted at #1 on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart.

Watch the Frank Borin (Good Charlotte, Story Of The Year)-directed video for "Gimme Sympathy," in which the band takes over a blown-out disco with irresistible hooks and an army of kids.
