As Diddy-Dirty Money so succinctly put it: Hello. Good morning. Is there a better way to wake up than to this so-hot-it-hurts photo of Taylor Lautner on the July 2010 cover of GQ? Yes. Taylor Lautner waking you up holding his actual issue of GQ. Telling you he just made you pancakes. Until that day comes, enjoy Taylor Lautner's GQ run. The interview, in which he discusses the strategic business reasons for removing his shirt in "New Moon" and his $7.5 million "Stretch Armstrong" paycheck, took place in an Olive Garden. Taylor and bottomless breadsticks? Dreams do come true.

Big news from the world of Death Cab For Cutie: DCFC guitarist/producer Chris Walla is saying, 'Pshaw,' to these desperate economic times and wading into the murky, unknown waters of small-business ownership with his own record label called Trans. Congrats, brosef!
Unlike most small businesses, Walla's new venture will operate under the protective wing of Atlantic Records, which is currently Death Cab's home base. According to BeatCrave, the label will kick off with the release of material from up-and-coming band The Lonely Forest, who hail from Walla's Pacific Northwest musical stomping grounds.
Aside from his work behind the boards with Death Cab, Walla has done production work for the likes of Tegan & Sara, The Decemberists and The Thermals. It's a successful track record that will undoubtedly serve him well while he scouts for new bands to release on Trans.
Nothing really signifies Walla & Co.'s success like their video for "Meet Me At The Equinox," the lead single from the New Moon soundtrack. Let's take a look back with the video below and applaud Chris on his new venture!

Bare your fangs, Team Edward. Get yer claws out, Team Jacob. Get your head-nod on, Team Hip-Hop. What? Yeah, it's Mr. Kick Push, Lupe Fiasco, with some true school New Moon rap for your immortal soul.
Fresh off of his comeback mixtape, Enemy Of The State: A Love Story, Lupe Fiasco applies his cerebral rhymes to the Twilight saga on "Solar Midnite."
The video for this noisy, rap-rock affair inter-cuts footage of a paranoid Lupe walking around a city and performing in a warehouse (with full band) with the love story we're all so familiar with: Bella And Edward + 1 (Werewolf).
"Solar Midnite" is the lone hip-hop track on the New Moon soundtrack, though it rocks harder than a lot of the contributions (we're looking at you, Bon Iver). Lupe Fiasco's Lasers album is due out at some point in 2010. Fingers crossed.

Here's something pretty special, if we do say so ourselves. It's Death Cab For Cutie's live performance of their New Moon soundtrack single, "Meet Me On The Equinox" from the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards!
Introduced by David Cross -- one of the many bearded bros at the Woodie Awards -- Death Cab plows through the song as if it'd been a staple of their live sets for years. I wonder if guitarist Chris Walla was thinking about his favorite Twilight character (Bella's dad!) while he was jamming away there.

The bearded men of Death Cab For Cutie were lucky enough to have the first single from the New Moon soundtrack with "Meet Me On The Equinox." And aside from making them extremely popular with the Twi-hard crowd, it's automatically immersed them in Twilight lore and philosophy.
In this video interview, taken during Death Cab's mtvU Woodie Award rehearsals (that's The Dead Weather rehearsing in the background), guitarist Chris Walla and bassist Nick Harmer sound off on a few Twilight issues.
Chris declares his preference for Bella's unassuming dad out of all the Twilight characters, while Nick drops some knowledge on Twilight's larger appeal, relating it to the current political climate and consumerism.
Nick Harmer then opens a HUGE can of worms by openly speculating on the chances of a Twilight musical. (As opposed to Twilight the Musical, the YouTube parody.) Wonder if Death Cab would be up for scoring that?

The floor of the Roseland Ballroom, where the sixth-annual mtvU Woodies will be held tonight, is very much not ready yet. Set pieces are being unwrapped, the stage is being polished like a knob, the lights are being tested, and burly crew guys in black are still doing lots of heavy lifting to prep for tonight's show. But all of that doesn't seem to bother Death Cab for Cutie -- as a band that's been together for the past 12 years, they're the veterans of this year's Woodies, a well-oiled artistic machine that communicates on stage without speaking, putting the same amount of concentration and consternation into their "New Moon"-soundtrack single that they've played with every time I've seen them perform live in the past near-decade.
To be sure, while Death Cab for Cutie has become part of the "New Moon" zeitgeist, the "New Moon" zeitgeist doesn't seem to have really become part of them. When asked which character he most related to, Chris Walla picked Bella's dad, and Nick Harmer was just as eager to talk about his hopes for the Obama administration and the residual effects of American consumerism.
Check out more photos of Death Cab rehearsing for their live woodies performance, and watch a brand-new interview with Chris Walla and Nick Harmer for an advanced liberal arts discussion about music, literature, politics, and pop culture, straight from the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards.

Remember when Tom Cruise was a total bad-ass and wore awesome glasses and was in the air force and was a cool bartender who knew how to flip bottles like a bawse and was a total lady killer? Yeah, me either.
Looks like Tommy Boy's trying to stay relevant with the vampire set in his just-leaked New Moon audition tape. And it's pretty painful.
Watch "Tom Cruise" take his Twilight audition to the danger zone. The result: That's a negative, Ghost Rider.

Ohhhh Kristen Stewart. Can we talk? You have "such a pretty face," as they say. So WHY the mullet? Por que the fe-mullay? The mullet made an appearance in Paris, Madrid, and the UK, and there's no sign of relenting. I know you're still growing it out after playing Joan Jett in The Runaways... And while I haven't played Joan Jett in a major motion picture, I've been there during that awkward in-betweener growing-out phase. It's THE WORST. It's that past-your-shoulders-but-not-long-enough-for-a-ponytail conundrum. It's annoying on a daily basis. But Kristen, that's what extensions are for. Just ask Jessica Simpson or Paris Hilton. The choppy upper-deck layers and dead-fish bangs are not how a woman lives her "Best Life," as Oprah would say. And like Oprah, I just want what's best for you. That's all. Don't worry. I'm still seeing New Moon.
