Twenty years ago, A Tribe Called Quest dropped their groundbreaking sophomore album The Low End Theory. To mark the anniversary, the four members of Tribe -– Kamaal "Q-Tip" Ibn John Fareed, Malik "Phife Dawg" Taylor, Ali Shaheed Muhammed and Jarobi White –- gave an exclusive interview to VH1 for its two part "VH1 Album-Versaries: The Low End Theory at 20." It's the first time since 1998 that all four members have granted a joint interview.

From discussing the making of the album at Battery Studios to addressing recent controversies that stemmed from the documentary "Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of A Tribe Called Quest," which touched on a scuffle between MCs Phife and Q-Tip, the interview is a definitive peek into the album that helped shape hip-hop's landscape. And if there was any recent beef, it now seems their rapport is as strong off-album as on.

When reflecting on time spent at the studio, there's friendly banter: “The snares used to spank so hard in Battery, it used to hurt my teeth,” confesses Shaheed. “The bass was just so aggressive.” Interjecting with laughter, Tip agrees: “Ali definitely blew some speakers in there, a lot!"

There's additional video interviews from MTV's Sway, author Nelson George and journalist Boss Lady, who all give context to Tribe Called Quests' influence and game-changing album. "I think Tribe Called Quest was always what hip-hop was meant to be -- the ability to just be yourself unapologetically," says Sway. He adds, "At the time hip-hop was regionalized and everybody was pigeonholed, which hurt rap... They expressed themselves in a way that had no regional boundaries, no geographic boundaries."

Mark Ronson's new video, "Bang Bang Bang," is pretty much the coolest thing we've seen this summer. There is so much going on, so many references, so much weirdness, so much ill imagery that it's hard to wrap your head around it!

Good thing "Bang Bang Bang," which dropped about a month ago, is also a dope piece of electro hip-hop, with rhymes supplied by Common and Q-Tip as well as vocals by MNDR (aka Amanda Warner).

Directed by Warren Fu, the video starts out with fake commercial for a Nutella-looking spread called "Ronson." Then we jump to a retro talk show where our Japanese host speaks French, and Ronson speaks Japanese. Sure!

The rest of the video is full of intentionally old-school special effects and references to "Star Wars," "Tron," anime, French New Wave films and basically everything else that has ever been cool.

Check out the video below. "Bang Bang Bang" is from Record Collection, Ronson's third solo album, which is due out in September.

What'd you guys do Wednesday night? Nothing? Sounds like fun! Hey! Wanna know what we did?? We went to mtvU's 2008 Woodie Awards, flirted with Boys Like Girls on the red carpet, got rejected (and un-rejected!) by the All American Rejects, found out Paramore's favorite movie and sat with Locksley and Andrew McMahon of Jack's Mannequin.

Okay, rewind. We've (occasionally) been known to exaggerate (or, as we like to call it, "make the story better') so we should probably back up and start at the beginning. Which brings us back to 5:45pm yesterday, the time we arrived at the mysteriously dark/freezing place called New York's Roseland Ballroom, grabbed our press pass and saw Santogold (looking super cute n' cozy in a gray hoodie and hoop earrings!) rehearsing on stage with Spank Rock.

Note: There were no pictures allowed inside before the show (Not that they would've come out, anyway -- mysteriously dark place, remember??) so you'll have to settle for this red carpet shot of Santogold wearing a shiny, silvery dress by Marc Jacobs that appears to be made from 100% Reynold's Wrap (though Santo swears it's actually way "softer" and more skin-friendly). And she's posing with Lykke Li. (LOVE her!)
