Ricky Martin has a new video out, and it's all about being happy! Yay! We could use some of that around these parts. "The Best Thing About Me Is You" premiered, and it makes us feel warm where our heart used to be before we became jaded cat people. After an emotional couple of years, it's nice to see Ricky Martin smiling, laughing and comfortable with who he is. And shirtless.

"The Best Thing About Me Is You" is very obviously Ricky Martin's statement about equality (as the word "equality" is splattered all over the walls in black paint). The video features a bunch of different people from all walks of life--gay couples, straight couples, tattooed people, children, etc. There's even a guy wearing glasses! But the weird thing about "The Best Thing About Me Is You" is that everyone is mysteriously good-looking. I'm not sure how that always seems to happen in these videos about "different" kinds of people. Hunchbacks need jobs, too.

"Life is short so make it what you wanna/Make it good, don't wait until manana," Ricky and friends declare in harmony in front of a white background splashed with inspirational words (GAP commercial approved!). Truth, Ricky Martin. I will eat those last five Oreos today.

So for the record: Miley on drugs = never. Miley and conscious consumption of alcohol when she's of legal age? Maybe. (Us Weekly)

A couple of weeks ago we hipped you to the "tropical soul" stylings of Debi Nova, a Costa Rican-born Los Angeles-based session-singer-turned-solo-artist.

After working with the likes of Ricky Martin, Black Eyed Peas and others, Nova has set out on her own. And her debut full length, Luna Nueva, due in March, is full of rhythmically complex pop-R&B. This sound is wonderfully captured on the album's lead single, "Drummer Boy."

Directed by Thomas Kloss (Pussycat Dolls, New Kids On The Block), the "Drummer Boy" video is a seductive introduction to Nova. With an acoustic guitar melody over a skittering beat (not unlike something Timbaland would cook up for Nelly Furtado), Nova does some dancing in the desert. There is a blessed lack of narrative to the vid; at some point some equally accomplished dancer friends show up to join in on the fun, but that's about it. It's more or less a platform for Debi Nova to show off her pipes and her moves.

Luna Nueva is due out in March. You can hear more music at Debi Nova's MySpace page. Check out the premiere of "Drummer Boy."

Not unlike yesterday's Buzz On artist, Nneka, Debi Nova draws on a diverse musical and cultural background to make a seductive sound all her own.

The Costa Rican singer has been a staple of the Los Angeles music scene for a couple of years now, adding her alluring vocals to tracks from Ricky Martin, Sean Paul and Black Eyed Peas.

She made an intoxicating collaborative EP with the late J. Dilla's brother, Illa J (Sounds Like Love, released last May), before moving on to begin recording solo material in earnest. On her debut solo album, titled Luna Nueva, due out in March, Nova makes what she describes as, "Tropical Soul."

Indeed on songs like "Drummer Boy," the usual beats of R&B and pop are subverted by the energy of Latin rhythms, while "Need 2 Be Loved," shows off her incredibly playful vocal dexterity.

Stay tuned for her "Drummer Boy" video, coming soon!

+ Mariah Carey gave a big "F U" to the R.I.A.A. (Recording Industry Association of America) and their silly little Grammys by pushing back the release date of her new album to a day after the cut-off date for it to be considered eligible for this year's awards. Personally, we think she's pulling a bitch move in light of fellow megastar Whitney Houston releasing her new album on September 1st. Nothing like a little competition between two DIVAAAAAAAAAAAAAS, right lambies? (The Frisky)

+It's so wonderful seeing the excitement on Kanye West's face to be out and about with someone as overtly glamorous as Amber Rose (especially in a barely-there bikini, and by "barely-there" we mean linguine-draped meatballs with a leg of lamb. Seriously?? Her body was assembled by spare parts. AND WE LIKES IT.) (The Blemish)

+ New pictures have surfaced of a hotter-than-ever Ricky Martin hanging out on the beach with his angelic one-year-old twin boys. ME ENCANTO! (Socialite Life)

+ Oh, and in case you're one of like four people in the world who wasn't annoyed when songs would auto-play on MySpace Music, they've disabled that feature to save a buck or two. (TechCrunch)

+ Be on the lookout for Yeah Yeah Yeah's frontwoman Karen O and MGMT to guest on the new Flaming Lips record, Embryonic. Evidently Karen did her portion of the two songs she recorded right over the phone. (NME)

+ Ricky Martin has finally stopped shaking his bon bon long enough to join the Twitterverse. AY YI YI! (OHLALA)

+ SO amazing. Lauren Conrad and the rest of her Hills friends have been immortalized in pastels and are hanging in some art gallery in Vancouver. And it's even the really good shot of Lauren with mascara streaming down her face. You know, from that one time when she cried? (Pretty Boring)
