This week's MTV PUSH Artist of the Week is the Virginia power trio The Downtown Fiction. Led by singer/guitarist Cameron Leahy, this young band combines the pop-punk now sound (think a less-tongue-in-cheek All-American Rejects) with some tightly wound classic-rock moves of yesteryear (think The Rolling Stones).
The Downtown Fiction got their start where so many bands do these days: online. In 2008, Leahy and drummer Eric Jones posted some demos to MySpace, corralled friend David Pavluk to join them on bass and soon found themselves a part of the roster on Photo Finish Records.
Since then, the band has released two EPs, one self-titled and one called The Best I Never Had -- both of which are being reissued, together, as The Double EP, which throws in some demos for good measure.
In the videos below, you'll get to know the young men behind the music. First up is an exclusive Buzzworthy Q&A in which the band members talk about touring Japan, give some details on its "no budget" video for "I Just Wanna Run" and explain the weird feeling of hearing the music on shows such as "The Hills" and "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."
In the following piece, the band talks about its sound in relation to playing live and recording in a studio. In the final clip, Eric Jones talks about balancing school and his music career. After the jump you'll see video interviews where the band members talk about how girls love David, why Eric loves espresso and their uniting affection for high voices.
Also also after the jump, see live videos of the band performing "I Just Wanna Run," "Best I Never Had" and "You Were Wrong."

Ke$ha may have made her name with singles that feature copious amounts of synths, drum machines and auto-tuned singing, but based on a video that just hit the Internets today, she's only rock and roll, but she likes it.
If you ever wanted to see Ke$ha's party-hearty lifestyle in a more vivid, "cinema verite" style, may we suggest you track down the video of Ke$ha and a bunch of her friends, presumably mid-party, singing a cover of the Rolling Stones' classic "Dead Flowers."
No auto-tune, no crazy eye makeup, no Diddy cameos--just Ke$ha and a bunch of her friends sitting around, seemingly late at night, having a Rolling Stones hootenanny.
This shouldn't come as much of a surprise to people. I mean, who else would be Ke$ha's spiritual forefather other than Keith Richards. Talk about brushing your teeth with a bottle of Jack!

Russell Brand is currently in New York City remaking the classic Dudley Moore comedy Arthur. The paparazzi has been hounding the set of the film, which also stars Helen Mirren and Nick Nolte. Why?
Because of images like the one above.
If you saw a dude with his hair in a top-bun, rocking an old school Rolling Stones T-shirt, SHORT shorts and white gym socks pulled up, wouldn't you either a) cross the street or b) take his photo, print it out to wallet size and write, "YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG," on it?
The insane thing is that this dude, the dude in the short shorts, dirty T-shirt and top-bun (yeah, it's for a role, I know), is going to marry ...

Unreal. I mean, I know Russ is a charming conversationalist, but, Katy! That dude looks like a dude you avoid on the bus!
Check out Katy's "California Gurls," video below. Arthur is due out next year.

Lady Gaga made a triumphant return to her old haunts of New York City last night, playing a homecoming show, of sorts, at the Big Apple's most famed venue, Madison Square Garden.
Or shall we say, Madison Square Gaga, which is what the Lady rechristened the venue on her Twitter account, posting this preshow pic:

You can read all about the show itself over at MTV News. The show was reportedly an emotional return to New York for Gaga, as she recalled her childhood dreams of rocking the same stage that has hosted the likes of Elton John, the Rolling Stones and countless others.
But let's get down to the really important stuff: the outfits.
Gaga rocked a variety of looks at the show, including some oldies (like the Armani Privé mirror dress at the top of the post), and some we haven't seen. Like this Rachel Barrett Flying Nun ensemble:
This demented Little Mermaid tribute:
And, finally, this amazing Fairy Godmother Living Dress outfit:
Which one is your favorite outfit? Let us know in the comments.

+ A little while back, we talked about "Where's My Angel," Metro Station's contribution to Almost Alice, a collection of tracks inspired by Tim Burton's upcoming Alice In Wonderland. + This one should be called, "When an American Idol runner-up attacks!" Me-ow. (MTV News)

Some songs should never, ever be covered. (See: Madonna's psychedelic "American Pie" remake, and Britney Spears' wholly unsolicited reinterpretation of the Rolling Stones' "Satisfaction.") Others can -- and have! -- been remade to excellent effect (think Mandy Moore's "Umbrella," Alanis Morissette's sad, soulful -- AND HILARIOUS -- rendition of "My Humps" and Travis' surprisingly downloadable "... Baby One More Time").
But the fact of the matter is, most cover songs are neither stunning successes nor spectacular failures. They just... are. Like emerging pop/funk artist Rebecca Jordan's take on Fleetwood Mac's "Dreams."
True, Rebecca's pipes are not to be confused with Stevie Nicks' -- nor her choreography with Jack Black's/Joan Cusack's from School of Rock -- but her soft, smoky vocals made us smile, hum and wish we remembered enough of the words to sing along.
So have a listen, and let Rebecca's low-key Fleetwood Mac impression lull you into a woozy, late-afternoon trance. Which is generally what happens when your singing voice reminds us of a mildly sedated Nelly Furtado.
