I don't know if I can think of any other band so lovingly dedicated to evoking nostalgia as Rooney, both with its vintage power-pop sound and subtly detailed videos.
Today we've got the video for Rooney's single, "Holding On," taken from the easygoing recent album Eureka. In the group's previous video, "I Can't Get Enough," the band played with a decidedly '80s theme, performing some snazzy choreography in a roller-skating rink. In "Holding On," Rooney's clearly rolled back the clocks and gone '70s mode, with the band rocking a look that wouldn't be out of place on members of The Eagles back in their Topanga Canyon days.
There's nothing crazy going on here. Just cool dudes playing a cool song on a sunny hillside. I will say the use of turtlenecks is gutsy, and I'm going out on a limb here, trendsetting. That's right. Turtlenecks. Trendy.
Check out the beach boys of Rooney and their new video for "Holding On." Eureka is out now.

We don't know about you, but our favorite episode of "The O.C." is definitely "The Third Wheel," where the entire Newport gang goes gaga over the band Rooney. (R.I.P Soap Net AND Marissa Cooper!)
Sure, we never really believed anyone except Seth Cohen would actually like a band as awesome as Rooney, but we were stoked for the L.A. group to get some well-deserved attention. Six years later, Rooney is still stealing the spotlight with its latest album, Eureka, and an upcoming summer tour with The Young Veins and Black Gold.
Lucky for us, we were able to grab a couple minutes with three-fourths of Rooney to talk about the perils of illegal downloading, high-school passions and those pesky rumors about Rooney making an appearance in Sofia Coppola's upcoming film, "Somewhere." Plus, watch for a special appearance by the Double Down, and see what influence peeing in Robert Schwartzman's yard had on making Rooney's new album, Eureka.
Watch our exclusive sit-down with the guys from Rooney, below and then check out Rooney's new "I Can't Get Enough" video, off its new album Eureka, out now.

Last month we got some behind-the-scenes footage of Rooney's new video for "I Can't Get Enough." And there was roller skating, there was choreography, there was anticipation.
Now the wait is over, as we're happy to unveil the finished product. Rooney's newest video certainly fits the vibe of the song; it's breezy, fun-loving and full of wonder. The video, directed by Marcus Herring, has a kind of late-'70s/early-'80s vibe in its almost quaint use of special effects. But it all fits the simplicity of the song. And Rooney's obviously in on the fun; just wait for the part where bassist/vocalist Robert Schwartzman is singing in front of what looks like an old, animated Starburst ad.
Props to the roller skaters, who pretty much make this video what it is. There's some really fun rolling choreography -- with splits, turns and Rockettes-esque kick lines --all in retro skates.
Check out the video below. Rooney's Eureka album is due out June 8.

In the video for "I Can't Get Enough," Rooney's first single from the upcoming album Eureka, the band unites both computer-generated imagery and good old-fashioned live action. It's like the "Avatar" of music videos, except substitute N'avi people for folks on roller skates. And reduce the budget by about $200 million. And minus James Cameron.
In this behind-the-scenes look at the "I Can't Get Enough" video shoot, vocalist/guitarist Robert Schwartzman discusses the concept and technology behind the clip. Find out how the video's skating motif matches the rhythmic qualities of the song and how the members of Rooney desperately want their skater body doubles to respect them. Garrh! Showbiz!
Check out the behind-the-scenes clip below. Eureka is out June 8. Get a free MP3 of "I Can't Get Enough" here when you pre-order the album.

Weren't there like, 18 straight episodes of The O.C. where they mentioned Rooney like at least four times per show? There were, right? Well, The O.C. may be over and done with, but Rooney's still in it to win. And JUST when we FINALLY managed to dislodge "When Did Your Heart Go Missing?" from our hippocampus, they drop another sunshine- and ELO-soaked garage-pop single.
Check out their new video -- packed with cute-but-not-slutty girls and rock star posing -- for "I Should've Been After You," off their latest album, Calling the World.
