Gym Class Heroes haven't even released their forthcoming The Papercut Chronicles II album, but their first single “Stereo Hearts" has already sold 1 million copies! Not too shabby for an album that DOESN'T EVEN EXIST YET!
GCH's new song "The Fighter" features OneRepublic frontman and consummate songwriter-producer Ryan Tedder. The song begins with bright synths, and its sweeping uplifting vibe kind of makes you think that you're about to hear a Coldplay or David Guetta song. Instead of hot chicks and partying, Travie McCoy rhymes about hardship and how you gotta keep your head up no matter what: "Every time you fall/It's only making your chin strong.../If you fall, pick yourself up off the floor/And when your bones can’t take no more/Just remember what you’re here for." I'm super into that mantra right now, guys.
Ryan Tedder sings the hook and supports Travie's crusade to carpe diem: "Give 'em hell/Turn their heads/Gonna live life till we're dead/Give me scars/Give me pain.../There goes the fighter!/Here comes the fighter!" I'm really hoping they decide to make a video for this song -- the way I see it, Travie and Ryan end up in a boxing ring wearing those shiny satin boxing outfits. They're dripping sweat, and fake blood is flying everywhere as each dude retreats to their corner to have water spritzed in their mouth and their cuts sewn up. This might only work for my own personal fantasy, not sure.
The Papercut Chronicles II is out Nov. 15.

If you guys didn't get your invite to appear in Sara Bareilles' latest music video, "Uncharted," from her album Kaleidoscope Heart, don't worry, we didn't either. But from the looks of it, we're the only ones. Everyone is in this video. Everyone!
"Uncharted" is shot DIY style, and it features a bunch of Sara Bareilles' famous fans lip-synching along to the song. Here's just a handful of celebs to look out for in the video: Ben Folds, Maroon 5's Adam Levine, N.E.R.D.'s Pharrell, Tegan And Sara, Vanessa Carlton, Ryan Tedder, Josh Groban, Ingrid Michaelson, and reigning Internet lip sync king Keenan Cahill. (Can we just put him in every music video please?) Missing from most of "Uncharted," though, is Sara Bareilles herself. But she's on tour with Maroon 5 right now, so she probably needs a little bit of a break.
It must be really tough to be Sara Bareilles -- scrolling through the VIP address book in your cell phone and deciding who to call to help make your video. "Well, Beyonce's on vacation this week. And I couldn't make Justin Bieber's birthday party so I don't want to ask him for a favor..." We hate you, Sara! JK, we love you. It's just that we're jealous, you see.

First there was Hanson, and we were happy. Then came the Jonas Brothers, and we were excited. Now, the next in the long and storied history of fraternal boy bands comes Burnham, made up of brothers Alex, Andre and Forrest Burnham.
Burnham was born when the Vermont brothers turned their parents' living room into a rehearsal space for multihour jam sessions. They caught the attention of Island Def Jam, with a sound that skews much more rock than the aforementioned bands of brothers.
Still, despite sophisticated musical chops, Burnham still retain some youthful, innocent qualities. And that's what makes them special; that killer combination of adult sounds through the prism of teenage voices, particularly in their breakout single, "Catch Me If You Can."
Following a well-proven songwriting formula beloved by everyone from Nirvana to Kelly Clarkson ("Catch Me If You Can" actually feels like an updated, male-driven "Since U Been Gone"), Burnham's highly capable of quickly transitioning from moodily quiet to powerfully loud with aplomb, rocking out during the surging chorus.
On the upcoming debut album, which the group has been working on with Ryan Tedder, expect sophisticated, stick-with-you, hook-heavy tracks that defy their years. And expect to hear a lot more about these boys: They're about to head out on tour with Justin Bieber.

+ Some folks (like, um, us) might think that Miley Cyrus' "Can't Be Tamed" borrows from the likes of Gaga, Aguilera and Ke$ha. But according to Miley, herself, "I don't think it looks like any other music video." (MTV News)
+ Taylor Swift is doing her part to help out with Nashville flood relief. The singer has donated $500,000 to the cause, telling the AP, "Nashville is my home, and the reason why I get to do what I love." (JustJared)
+ Lady Gaga, who was in NYC to attend the Met Costume Gala, dropped by the Museum of Modern Art to check out Marina Abramovic's "The Artist Is Present" installation. (PopEater)
+ Christina Aguilera was looking pretty punk rock on her way to dinner in New York City. (ImNotObsessed)
+ There's a new Kelly Clarkson jam floating around the internet, and it apparently throws some shade at OneRepublic maestro (and onetime Clarkson collaborator) Ryan Tedder. Clarkson is apparently heated because Tedder gave her and Beyoncé very similar tracks to record. These two should just listen to "Halo"... I mean "Already Gone," and relax. (Idolator)

+ If things have been feeling too vegetarian around these parts, that's all about to change with news of some USDA-approved, pop-star beef. Yep, it appears Ke$ha has a bone to pick with fellow platinum-haired — and platinum-selling — singer Britney Spears. Ke$ha recently opened up to the Scottish Daily Record decrying the act of lip-synching during live shows, something Spears has often been accused of. "It's treating people as if they are too stupid to realize you are not actually singing." Shots. Fired. (E! Online)
+ I suppose you don't become someone as revered as Lady Gaga if you're overly concerned with what people think of you, right? Wrong. It appears all her brazen individuality hasn't won Gaga many friends in the music biz. Lady told British chat-show host Jonathan Ross, "I'm an outcast from the music industry. ... I don't have any friends in the music business." Aww! We'll be your friend, Gaga! (MTV News)
+ What kind of ride will Justin Bieber be sporting now that he's 16? After all, Diddy's did promise the little dude a Lamborghini for his birthday. Or did he? "[Diddy] said when I turn 16, he was going to give me his Lamborghini. ... But we all know Diddy's not gonna give me his Lamborghini. He's all talk." Somehow, I think Bieber will wind up with wheels despite Diddy's welshing. (Limelife)
+ With all the talk about Tim Burton's Alice In Wonderland and, perhaps more important, Almost Alice, the collection of songs inspired by the movie, Spinner has put together a collection of Alice-themed musical moments from the likes of Jefferson Airplane, Tom Petty, Stevie Nicks and more. (Spinner)
+ Not only is Ryan Tedder and OneRepublic hard at work on the band's new album, Waking Up, but Tedder is also working on an original song that will be featured in the upcoming season of Glee. Find out all about what the "Apologize" songwriter is up to in this Idolator video postcard. (Idolator)

When you listen to Beyonce's "Halo" -- the patented Ryan Tedder melody, the beat collapsing on itself, Bey's increasingly dramatic delivery -- you probably don't think to yourself, "This is pretty good, but what it really needs is some gruff, grimy dancehall toasting from Jamaican music legend Elephant Man."
If you did think that, well, you're probably Diplo. The chief genre blender/producer/superstar DJ/half of Major Lazer, spent most of his GRAMMY night on Sunday sending out tweets that varied in their levels of veracity from probable to patently false (having a hard time believing M.I.A., Susan Boyle, and Perez Hilton were partying in the same space).
One that turned out to be at least half true was this: "SERIOUSLY CANT BELIEVE beyonce won a GraNNY when My VErSiOn of HaLo with elefant man + @majorlazer is SoOO MUCH BETTER!"
Spelling, caps and grammar aside, Diplo wasn't joshing about the existence of his Elephant Man-aided version of "Halo." Whether it's better than Beyonce's original? Only you and time will tell.
Check out Major Lazer's version of "Halo," featuring Elephant Man as well as the video for Beyonce's original and her "Halo" performance at the Hope For Haiti Now benefit.

Well, hello there MTV Featured Artist of the Week, Kristinia DeBarge. How are things? Good, glad to hear it. Why yes, I have enjoyed the 80's-ish sugary pop of your debut album, Exposed! Thanks for asking!
I especially like your take on the Ryan Tedder-penned jam "Future Love." What's that you say? I should check out your live performance of said song in the video below? Great! And I should try not to be alarmed at the slightly creepy guys behind you dressed like a horror movie version of America's Best Dance Crew faves The Jabbawockeez? I will keep that in mind.
Oh and can you repeat that last thing? That while I'm at it I should dig into another live performance of your song "Sabotage"? What an embarrassment of riches. Thanks, Kristinia DeBarge!

UGH. I'm STILL SO MAD that someone PUNCHED SWEET, ANGELIC LEONA LEWIS. I'mma borrow one from Katy Perry, who reacted thusly when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift: "It's like you stepped on a kitten." Leona Lewis is a sweet lamb of a human being. And NO ONE deserves to slapped, except for maybe the balloon boy's father because he has such a douchey haircut. (And what kind of a name is Heene anyway? One that rhymes with WEENIE, actually. Ha!)
Anyway, here Leona Lewis just made a song (with the help of Ryan Tedder) about just WANTING TO BE HAPPY, and it's about how she can't even get the guy she's secretly in love with, and then she has to go watch him get married to some chick, and then SOMEONE HITS her? She's JUST TRYING TO BE HAPPY. GARRRH. I'M SO ANGRY I COULD BREAK MY MACBOOK AIR!
Okay. Strong Britney. Watch Leona Lewis' "Happy" video -- directed by Jake Nava ("Single Ladies," "She Wolf," "If U Seek Amy") -- off her upcoming album, Echo.

Word around the campfire is that Rihanna's ready to make the follow-up to Good Girl Gone Bad, an album whose various incarnations has spawned more hits than a mafia war.
According to MTV News, Rihanna's gonna enter the studio with some familiar faces -- "Umbrella" writer/producer Tricky Stewart, Justin Timberlake -- and some new ones as well, like The All-American Rejects' Tyson Ritter. With those past and future Rihanna collabos in mind, I started daydreaming about who else could make this good girl even better. (And whether or not she'll wear a see-through dress to the studio.)
1. Hot Chip
While it may often be broken, Rihanna has a New Wave heart. You can heart it in her Soft-Cell-sampling early hit, "S.O.S." or in the bum-bum-be-dum's of "Disturbia." She's ready for some synths, electro leanings, and all the attendant eyeliner and Flock Of Seagulls hair that goes with it. (Wait! Rihanna HAS Flock of Seagulls hair!) So why not work with some of the finest purveyors of neo-New-Wave? Hot Chip could expertly combine R&B, dance and pop for Rihanna.

2. Katy Perry
Katy Perry and Rihanna are basically already besties, so why not get in the studio together. If Rihanna lacks anything (and she doesn't lack much) it's a defined personality. Her whole thing is the blank stare, the elusive, untouchable girl. Maybe Katy could giver her something there. Like a sense of humor, or a more human, normal vibe. Not that there ain't a lot to love in Rihanna's current robot-diva-from-the-future thing. Or maybe they could both cake dive together.
3. Ryan Tedder
The OneRepublic singer/songwriter might be accused of ripping himself off (Beyonce's "Halo" begats Kelly Clarkson's "Already Gone"), but it's a heck of a blueprint to work from. This seems like a no-brainer, right? I can already hear Rihanna singing "Apologize" in my head. Her airy, pleading voice would work great with his melodies.

OneRepublic wipes away the bad-relationships-and-bitter-breakup tears of their monster smash "Apologize" on "All The Right Moves," the pulsating, high-energy lead single off their upcoming album, Waking Up, due out November 19.
We'll pull back the curtain on their masquerade ball video on Thursday, October 8 on MTV, but until then, watch this exclusive sneak peek of OneRepublic's corseted-and-costumed undercover clip of their "All The Right Moves" video.
