about this blog

  1. Obsessively blogging about pop music, pop videos, pop stars, and pop culture from inside the MTV headquarters in Times Square. We also have a slight Jonas Brothers problem. And a little fixation with Tokio Hotel.

You've seen/memorized Cobra Starship's West Side Story VMA promo video. Now go behind the scenes and underground -- deep, deep beneath Brooklyn -- at the New York City Transit Musem where Cobra Starship shot their 2009 MTV VMA promo spots, and watch Gabe Saporta and Ryland Blackinton discuss the Cobra-created choreography that got trumped by Wade Robson's pro moves, plus Lyrca, unitards, and more stuff "people 'in the biz'" of talking about dance know about. And stay tuned for more VMA promo spots starring the 2009 MTV VMA presenters and performers.

Wrapping up their intimate series of fan questions, Cobra Starship takes on Part 3 of their Buzzworthy Blog fan interview. (In case you missed Part 1 -- Cobra took on the uncanny similarities between themselves and Ashley Tisdale, and Part 2 featured grammar lessons and sex with Carmen Electra!)

Now, with just a few queries left, the boys pull no punches -- although they've pretty much had it with all you greedy multi-question-ers. There needs to be some semblance of order in these situations!

But you fans did kick this one off right by probing Gabe, Alex, and Ryland to find out:

+ Who would the guys go gay for (though apparently Gabe doesn't need to; he is already in a loving relationship)
+ Cobra's "suh-lammin'" outfits and where to find them
+ ... And the fate of a certain fan's panties.

Now that we've all had the long weekend to cool off after the Cobra Starship/ Ashley Tisdale beef, let's take a look at Part 2 of Cobra Starship's Buzzworthy Blog fan interview.

Highlights include:

+ Grammar lessons from Ryland...
+ The great responsibility that comes with naming your kid after Ryland...
+ Cobra's first and lasting impressions of each other...
+ The complete elimination of the color purple...
+ SEX WITH CARMEN ELECTRA!

... And stay tuned for Part 3, coming soon!

Let's put aside the Cobra Starship-versus-Ashley Tisdale beef for a second and take an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at Cobra Starship's new "Good Girls Go Bad" video, starring Leighton Meester.

And you already know the video involves a deli-turned-speakeasy and blah blah bliggity blah, but did you know that it was shot on Avenue B in the East Village AND that Ryland once worked at an actual deli? And that Alex has a sensitivity to houndstooth? It's true.

Watch two behind-the-scenes clips from the "Good Girls Go Bad" video shoot.

... After the jump, see what made Leighton Meester feel "sexual healing"-y... on the set...

In part 1 of Cobra Starship's HIGHLY anticipated MTV Buzzworthy Blog Q&A, Gabe Saporta, Ryland Blackinton, and Alex Suarez cover the following topics:

+ Guy Ripley!

+ Not skydiving.

+ A camping trip gone horribly wrong.

+ Drinkin' beers and shootin' deers.

But Cobra Starship's interview takes a decidedly ugly turn when the guys answer a question about Ashley Tisdale and the curious and coincidental case of her album, Guilty Pleasure, and her song called "Hot Mess." Um, don't shoot the messenger...

Watch Cobra's Buzzworthy fan Q&A after the jump, and stay tuned for parts 2 and 3.

When they were just here the other day answering your Buzzworthy Blog fan questions, Gabe, Alex, and Ryland revealed a little bit more about more about Cobra Starship's almost-here, almost-ready "Good Girls Go Bad" video, starring Leighton Meester, off their also almost-here, almost-ready album, Hot Mess. (Did you see my sweet inner lip tat on the album cover? Hurt like a B+TCH, but it was worth the glory!)

Anyway, find out more about the impact of the Prohibition Era on Cobra Starship's new video, gambling, carousing, and lots and lots of "cahoots." What does "cahoots" even mean? I don't know, but Gabe says it a LOT in this exclusive Buzzworthy video. Use your context clues. Watch it now, and drink (milk) every time Gabe says it. And stay tuned for the official "Good Girls Go Bad" video and Cobra Starship Buzzworthy fan Q&A videos coming soon too!)

Gabe, Ryland, and Alex occupied the Buzzworthy couch today (no, that's not Nate running away in the background -- he and Victoria couldn't make it) to answer your Cobra Starship fan questions. Video of the whole surreal experience will be coming soon, but here's a little teaser to get you in the appropriate mental zone.

+ First, Thai food was ordered.

+ Then, it was noted that several people in the room were wearing boat shoes, so we had to talk about that as well as the deleterious effects of the rain on Jewfros (myself and Gabe + NYC monsoon = unhappy Jews.)

+ Next, Ashley Tisdale was... "discussed."

+ Guy Ripley mentions were made.

+ Gabe Saporta personally applauded Joe Jonas' "Single Ladies" dance.

+ The color purple (the actual color, not the 1982 book by Alice Walker or the 1985 movie starring Whoopie Goldberg) and the term "epic fail" were both deemed DONE. (Sorry, everyone who still uses it. And I probably still will because I'm lazy.)

+ Also discussed: camping, underwear, going peepee in your pants.

Okay. Stay tuned for the video! It's currently in "post." Until then, watch the sneak peek of the "Good Girls Go Bad" video, featuring Leighton Meester. Again.

Reasons it's good/ weird to be young and sorta rich and famous: you get free dinners, tons of free champers, and probably armloads of free jeans. Sometimes all in the same night and in the window of store overlooking New York City's Fifth Avenue and very cold, possibly hungry fans.

Such was the scene last night at the opening of Diesel Planet -- Diesel's largest store ever. To celebrate the kingdom of denim, Diesel invited Cobra Starship's Gabe Saporta, Ryland (that's him in the scarf in that photo I took, which is a totally terrible pic, I admit), Naeem Juwan of Spank Rock (such a nice dude, BTW), plus Dan Keyes of Young Love (I now have a crush on him), Louis Epstein of Jump Into the Gospel, Theophilus London, and Jarrod Gorbel of The Honorary Title (BTW, Jarrod looks like a perfect combo of Emile Hirsch and Gael Garcia Bernal, and my crush is mounting exponentially as I type this) to eat together.

Anyway, they all "supped" a fancy table in the window -- weird, right? -- like some sort of strange psychological experiment/ museum exhibit, while cold fans looked on, though I don't think they minded  because they were pretty stoked to be just a sheet of glass away from Cobra. I was freezing and sick, so I went upstairs and poked around and found a black bag and black leather jacket and some shoes I REALLY want. And speaking of shoes, I also need to add that Gabe had on some amazing hi-top Nikes with gold pyramid studs. Gabe, where you get dem?

Weren't there? Understood. Check out the video below, and if you need more fashion in your sweet lifestyle, see who I saw at the Richie Rich fashion show on Wednesday and at the MAC x Hello Kitty party earlier this month!
