Young Money is best known as the home to rappers Drake, Nicki Minaj and founder Lil Wayne, but if pop singer/songwriter Shanell has her way, her latest song, "2 Seconds Too Late," will expand the label past its hip-hop roots.
A former songwriter for Beyoncé, Ne-Yo and Jennifer Hudson, among others, Shanell was a dancer on Ne-Yo's tour when Lil Wayne signed her to Young Money. Since then, the fledgling singer has performed on the rapper's "I Am Music II" tour and has written Weezy's "Prom Queen" alongside four tracks from his 2010 album Rebirth. After releasing the 2010 mixtape Shut Up and Listen, the singer returns with "2 Seconds Too Late."
Produced by Catalyst, the mournful R&B ballad is anchored by a slow-burning electric guitar and Shanell's plaintive voice. As the title implies, it's a story of bad timing and missed opportunities -- situations that suck for our protagonist, but provide emotional inspiration for Shanell.

It's been a while since we've worn our grill, but we can't think of a more perfect time to get that sucker out of retirement than for MTV Jams to premiere four new Lil Wayne videos this weekend.
The first one's called "Da Da Da" and features Weezy rocking the face off of a Miami rooftop. Weezy filmed the clip, along with 11 others, back in February over the span of three days, banking a boatload of videos before reporting to Rikers. Dude may be a felon, but dude's no slacker.
And if you get a little déjà vu sensation watch "Da Da Da," it's because the video is oddly reminiscent of U2's classic "Where The Streets Have No Name" video, which was filmed gorilla-style on a rooftop in Los Angeles back in 1987. We're sure Bono would be proud.
Tune into MTV Jams this weekend to catch even more clips, including "Knockout" with Nicki Minaj, "Runnin" with Shanell, and "Get a Life."

Lil Wayne's tour bus is dark and cold, and it's not all that easy to tell what's going on. But it makes sense that Weezy likes it like that. Dark and twisted. But it also makes it tough to tell exactly what we got here.
This Buzzworthy video interview, shot before his MTV Spring Break performance, is a Young Money ensemble interview, featuring answers from Jae Millz, Gutta Gutta, Lil Twist, Nikki Minaj, Lil Chucky, and Shanell -- the lyricist behind "Prom Queen."
More importantly, this royal panel puts to rest major questions like, "Who would you like to see in a bathing suit?" And "Who would carry Lil Wayne's Grammys at the beach?" The stand-out moment is when Wayne introduces Shanell, "his Grammy," and gets all soft on the lady MC.
For a little taste of what it's like to live like Lil Wayne, take a look at the video below. For a big taste, tune into FN Spring Break Rules at 8PM EST, tonight!
