In the mid-1990s, Sublime's mix of dub, reggae, punk, ska and hip-hop would help define an entire subgenre of alternative rock. The band's laid-back tales of California life felt like the flip side of grunge's nihilism and was able to unite the punks, surfers, rastas and hip-hop fans behind one band. Bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh have continued playing despite the 1996 death of singer Bradley Nowell. They've added singer/guitarist Rome Ramirez to form Sublime With Rome. And now we've got the exclusive new single "Can You Feel it," featuring Wiz Khalifa.

While it's hard to mistake Ramirez's voice for Nowell's, the group leans heavily on its reggae and dub influence on "Can You Feel It," channeling soulful Jamaican crooners like Jimmy Cliff and Desmond Dekker. When Ramirez cedes the mic to Wiz, the rapper delivers another ode to his favorite medicinal herb: "I'm rollin' up a G6/Hit it once you won't believe this/You say your mind is racing/I'm just trying to help you pace it," rhymes Wiz, always the thoughtful friend.

"Can You Feel It" is the second single from the group's upcoming debut album Yours Truly, out everywhere July 12. Hear clips of all the songs on Yours Truly over at iTunes, and check out Sublime With Rome on tour all summer long with 311. Head to sublimewithrome.com for more info.

Dog days, people. That's where we're headed; that point of the summer where the "OMG! I <3 SUMMER!" feeling kind of dissipates and your days are basically composed of sweating, staying hydrated, cursing global warming and generally losing your sense of swag.

What you need is a nice, breezy, chill-out feel-good jam to cool you down. And that's what we have here with "Lay Me Down," courtesy of the L.A. band, The Dirty Heads, with a little help from Rome, the lead singer of Sublime With Rome (a group that features ex-members of the classic summertime band Sublime).

In this Thomas Mignone-directed clip, we get that easy summer feeling, watching the band perform on the beach while interspersed with some footage of lovers on the run in Mexico.

"Lay Me Down" is taken from The Dirty Heads' Any Port In A Storm, out now. Check out the video below.

Last we heard from Travis McCoy (or, as he's now known, Travie McCoy), he was sticking his hands in the "Cookie Jar" on Gym Class Heroes's 2008 album The Quilt. When MTV News caught up with hip-hop frontman late last year, he mentioned good news and bad news: First, fans are going to have to wait a little longer for a new Gym Class album for a little while. (Sad.) Second, a Travie McCoy solo joint is well in the works. (Happy!)

OK, it's more than in the works. We're pleased to present "Billionaire," the first single off Travie's upcoming solo album called Lazarus. The song, featuring Bruno Mars, has a sort of laid-back, island feel to it. Think Sublime meets Common meets Jason Mraz. The lyrics, on the other hand, rattle off a laundry list of wishes for Travie if — nay, when — he becomes a billionaire, including becoming besties with Oprah and appearing on the cover of Forbes.

To see Travie perform the song live, check him out on MTV's Movies & Music Festival dates with Cobra Starship and 3OH!3.

... Or not. But you know if they did, you'd be begging your parents for Scuba lessons right now. They were actually just in San Pedro, Cali, yesterday shooting their next video, which the ever-reliable Just Jared thinks is either "Kung Fu Grip" or "Burning Up." (And the night before, following their Idol appearance, which NY Mag felt lacked heart, they were seen out with actress Selena Gomez, who's been deemed the next Miley... so get those racy pix ready, dearie!)

But back to the new Jonas Brothers video. The neo-19th century hair give the Jo Bros a very Panic At the Disco vibe. We're also going to use both context clues and our keen instincts to assume that the Jonas Brothers aren't covering Madonna's "Burning Up," nor does their "Kung Fu Grip" have anything to do with Sublime's infamous reference.

In other Jonas Brothers news: People magazine's all-JB collector's edition issue hits stands today.
