Our favorite-ever thing to come out of the great city of Chicago is, of course, R. Kelly, followed by Married With Children. Our third-fave is a three-way tie between Kid Sister, remix masters the Hood Internet, and hot dogs.
But competing for one of those slots (probably hot dogs) is Yea Big & Kid Static; the latter is a Southside MC, the former a DJ, and together they're laying down some retro-nuevo slap-happy geek-hop in the vein of the Cool Kids and Spank Rock.
You simply MUST listen to their ode to hoagies, "Eatcho Sammich," off their self-titled debut. It's up on their MySpace page. Because it's even more fun than one of those elusive 12-foot party subs, and because "drinking your milkshake" is super played.
