Obsessively blogging about pop music, pop videos, pop stars, and pop culture from inside the MTV headquarters in Times Square. We also have a slight Jonas Brothers problem. And a little fixation with Tokio Hotel.
We've always had a thing for Spill Canvas' sometimes-mustachioed frontman, Nick Thomas. Which is why we were secretly thrilled to hear his current Super Troopers-inspired 'stache described as "high-definition quality" on the set of TSC's new video, "Saved."
'Course, as much as we love guys with killer facial hair (Seriously! Bigfoot, call us!) we appreciate that there are other factors that go into the making of a successful music video. You know, like empty warehouses, nifty greenscreens, and enough cell phones to feed an entire family of Verizon Wireless stores. So check out this behind-the-scenes video footage and tune in next week to catch "Saved" in all its spectacular, missed-call glory.
Anything The Veronicas can do, The Spill Canvas can do better. At least, that's what the emo/alt-rockers want you to think. And they're not letting a couple of Aussie sisters out-campaign them and "steal" the Best Video of the Year nomination right out from under their noses.
Which is why Spill Canvas is "pulling a Veronicas" (a.k.a. firing back with a VMA's video campaign of their very own). Check it out and see why the Sioux Falls natives -- and a bunch of dead presidents -- think they deserve your nominatin' votes for Best Rock Video and Best Video of the Year for their breakout hit "All Over You."
When they're not rocking stages, the Spill Canvas has been ruling bowling alleys across America this summer, from New York to L.A., Texas to the Great Lakes, and all the great lanes in between, in support of the Pos or Not campaign. TSC's "No Really, We Bowl" parties -- join their last one this Monday if you happen to be in Salt Lake City and you happen to be at AMF Ritz Classic Lanes -- combine the finest old-school bowling balls, new-school (thankfully) contraceptives, gently used t-shirts, and South Dakota's hottest attraction since Mount Rushmore. (Sorry, Shawn Colvin.)
Watch an exclusive interview with the Spill Canvas to find out more about their bowling parties (gratuitous Big Lebowski reference included, of course) and their masterful pin-crushing techniques. Plus, check out more Spill Canvas bowling photos after the jump, and watch their tour diary videos here.
The men of Ludo -- St. Louis' illest power-poppers -- are not afraid to take the stage dressed like the prom scene in Grease (and, like Danny Zuko, lead singer Andrew Volpe indeed rocks the throwback pompadour), celebrate facial hair with their "Cinco de Mustache" shows and elevate tooth brushing to a near-art form. So it should come as no surprise that the unabashedly bombastic band happily agreed to send us dispatches from the road.
In their seventh tour diary video, the Spill Canvas hits Salt Lake City and puts the voice distorter pedal to the metal for maximum robo talk. Watch the guys take a trip to the car wash, Ace's fast food order, Landon's cooperation versus his non-cooperation, Joe's mathlete showcase and his Ol' Dirty Bastard impression -- strictly unmissable!
This is TSC's final Buzzworthy tour diary video, but before you fling yourself off your bed in major despair, watch the rest right here, and, in remembrance, check out a classic ODB video and footage from Yo! MTV Raps.
After an exhausting European tour, from which they diligently sent Buzzworthy video dispatches from the road, the Spill Canvas is safe and sound back here in the States and touring up a modest s---storm.
But according to the band, all that touring abroad put a strain on their chops. Which is why, in a move reminiscent of the Bravery's Artist of the Week stint, they brought in, um, "Coach Ferguson" (who's like a very Tenacious D-esque combo of Fire Marshall Bill and Tom Anderson -- not be confused with Tom Anderson of MySpace -- who was, if you recall, the old-dude neighbor on Beavis and Butt-Head) to help them re-focus on their craft.
We know we're uncomfortable, and chances are, you will be too.
The Spill Canvas, with packed bags and heavy hearts, prepare to leave Europe -- but not before sending us their fifth and final Buzzworthy tour diary video from Europe (worry not your pretty little head, because they've still got more coming from the States).
Watch the guys become one with the Spice Girls and with fruit in their exclusive tour video, and catch up on their previous Buzzworthy tour videos.
In their fourth Euro tour diary video, The Spill Canvas experiences the rotundity of London, the sweet smells of Cologne and introduces you to Mr. Salami Savage -- one of the illest things we've seen since the entire 24-hour Jackass takeover.
Watch the guys interview Ace the Guitar Tech, demonstrate reckless disregard for Stuttgart mattresses, text Mom back home (aw!), and make excellent use of special effects in their third exclusive tour diary video.
Going on tour and destroying hotel rooms, guzzling buckets of pills, mainlining whiskey, and bedding overeager, underage groupies is so 1985. Not even Slash still parties like that anymore. Modern times call for modern music by modern men. Men like The Spill Canvas, who spend their downtime during in Europe doing discreet things, like catching up on election news and messing around with Final Cut Pro.
The Spill Canvas touches down in Paris -- where the wallpaper is particularly compelling -- and checks in from Switzerland in their second tour diary video. Watch it below, and watch Part 1 here.
