Uffie's new video for "Difficult," the latest from her debut album Sex Dreams And Denim Jeans, is a much less dreamy affair than her previous clip, for "ADD SUV."

With a bouncy, piano-driven melody and the incessant lyrical hook "Don't worry if I write rhymes, I write checks" (which is a lift from an old Diddy verse), "Difficult" is a super-catchy pop song, produced by French dance master SebastiAn.

Shot by French video directors AB/CD/CD, the video for "Difficult" is sorta like The Verve's clip for "Bittersweet Symphony," with Uffie quickly walking through the hallways of a Parisian school, slamming into people as she determinedly goes on her way. There's some "Inception"-style zero-gravity stuff going on and a whole lot of attitude.

It might sound weird to say that 23-year-old Uffie was ahead of her time, but in a way, that's exactly what she was. The Miami-born, globe-trotting singer (she was raised in Hong Kong and resides now in Paris) made an underground splash in 2006 with her single, "Pop The Glock." It was a pretty fresh combination of French scuzz-dance (think Justice), old school hip-hop and bratty pop. And it pretty much predicted the likes of Ke$ha (who M.I.A. once accused of ripping off Uffie).

But after "Pop The Glock" popped, Uffie went through a divorce, had a kid, and took some time off. Now she's back with a new album -- Sex Dreams And Denim Jeans -- and new single and video for "ADD SUV."

"ADD SUV" is a dark, chilling song, filled with images of "Ritalin-filled debutantes." It's a far more subtle and mature track than her previous work, distancing herself from the artists who may, or may not have copied her style.

The video, directed Nathalie Canguilhem, is equally enigmatic; mixing footage of various characters driving cool, classic cars around a nondescript city. One of these characters is Pharrell Williams, who drops a verse about seeing "everything in neon."

Just because M.I.A. been quiet musically doesn't mean she ain't got her opinions. In a recent interview with the NME she shared some of them, dissing "Twilight," Ke$ha and Lady Gaga and killing all of our dreams in the process.

According to M.I.A., Gaga pimps the system. The fiercely political, politically active singer may have "sold out" in the past, but according to the "Paper Planes" pilot, it's always for a good cause. When she gets a fee to play a corporate show (even one for MTV), she claims the proceeds go toward "building a school in Africa."

So she's got no time for what she sees as Gaga's brazen commercialization of her music, especially in the video for "Telephone." Are they even interested in making money from music anymore? Lady Gaga plugs 15 things in her new video. She even plugs a burger.

M.I.A's no fan of Gaga's music either: "None of her music's reflective of how weird she wants to be or thinks she is. She models herself on Grace Jones and Madonna, but the music sounds like 20-year-old Ibiza music ... But she’s a good mimic. She sounds more like me than I f***ing do!"

On the top of Ke$ha, M.I.A. makes the oft-made assertion that the "Tik Tok" singer has been biting the style of hipster-dance princess Uffie.

M.I.A. saves her last dart for the the "Twilight" franchise, claiming she dodged the bullet of having to contribute to the soundtrack when label boss Jimmy Iovine intervened and spared her from the chore. Who knew contributing to soundtracks was such a tough gig?

Interesting points all around. You can check out the transcript of the chat here.
