Remember when we were kind of confused by Mick Jagger's random verse in will.i.am and Jennifer Lopez's song "Hard"? Well, that's probably because it was actually a snippet (or something) from "Go Home," will.i.am's latest creation featuring Mick Jagger.

Lyrically, "Go Home" is basically identical is similar to "Hard," with the new version featuring an Auto-Tuned solo verse by will.i.am: "My mama told me Willie rock hard/Don't be no dummy, be a lil' smarter/Don't be like your Daddy/Finish what you started/Fly Willy, I'll be a charter." Mick's hook is up next, and even though he's still totally a balled-out rocker, there's just something weird about hearing him sing the same verse Jennifer Lopez sang a few months ago. Or maybe it's just odd to hear a dude over 60 proclaim that "You could go hard/Or you could go home." Probably the J. Lo thing, though.

"Go Home" was also tweaked out with some new beats courtesy of DJ Wolfgang Gartner, who does a killer job of fusing his mainstream, grimy dubstep vibe with a Mick Jagger-approved, authentic rock-and-roll bass line. While I'm not sure the song's gonna be an instant hit, I give mad credit to will.i.am for bringing Jennifer Lopez and Mick Jagger together on (kind of) the same record. Crucial moment in pop music history, guys!

The year 2011 is quickly, sadly, drawing to a close. Except it's not sad! We're moving ahead with the speed of an iPhone 4S! And before you let separation anxiety and fear of change get the best of you -- no one looks adorable pouting in a party hat -- let's take a moment to reflect on the year in pop music. Being MTV Buzzworthy, the home of all things pop, we took an exhausting, in-depth look the biggest trends in pop music in 2011. It wasn't an easy job, but... it's actually our job! So, here are the songs, sounds and stars who were all over pop music in 2011.

EPIC COVERS
+ Everyone covered and/or remixed "Marvin's Room": Drake did it first, but Chris Brown remixed it, Teyana Taylor covered it, and R&B singer Sammie covered it. Paula DeAnda put out "I Can Do Better," and even CODY SIMPSON put his spin on "Marvin's Room" with "Evenings In London." But no one did it better than JoJo. Even Drake agreed.

+ Everyone covered Lil Wayne's “How to Love”: Justin Bieber made an acoustic remix of "How To Love", Demi Lovato covered "How To Love" on VH1's Top 20 Live, pop solo singer Tinashe and R&B singer Brandon Hines (who is INCREDIBLE, btw) all covered Weezy's heartbreaker.

+ Taylor Swift covered EVERYONE: Over the course of her seemingly endless "Speak Now" tour, Taylor covered Britney, T.I.'s "Live Your Life," Eminem, Nelly, Usher, Bieber, Shawn Colvin, Jimmy Eat World, Switchfoot, Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, Uncle Kracker (!!!) and even Bryan Adams, often bringing out artists as surprise guests.

EPIC VIDEOS
+ Pop stars put out videos like MACHINES: Beyonce put out SIX official videos this year! Eight if you count her Live At Roseland DVD performance videos. Rihanna and Pitbull put out five videos, six if you count "Fly" with Nicki Minaj. Britney put out four videos, Lady Gaga put out FOUR videos (probably five, since "Marry The Night" is due out any minute, and six if you count her "The Lady Is A Tramp" duet with Tony Bennett, Bruno Mars released four videos, and Katy Perry and Nicki Minaj put out three videos each.

+ Everyone made SUPER dramatic, cinematic videos: Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away" video featured a heartbreaking ending we didn't see coming, Dr. Dre's "I Need A Doctor" video featured a car crash, death and a return to life, Britney's "Criminal" video was shot like a modern-day Bonnie & Clyde, and Rihanna's "We Found Love" terrified us in a very Darren Aronofsky kind of way.

EPIC TOURS
+ 30 Seconds To Mars played everywhere: Seriously, these guys played 135 shows in 2011 alone. By the time December 7 rolls around, they'll set a world record for most shows played within a single album cycle. Top that.

+ Britney Spears lap-danced everyone: Every seat in the house on Britney's "Femme Fatale" tour is a good seat, but one seat in particular was the best seat in the house. The chair (actually, it's a bed?) Britney put centerstage, upon which very special guests were treated to a lap dance. Very lucky fans got a lap dance from Britney, and so did some celebrity VIPs: Britney gave Joe Jonas a lap dance, Jason Trawick got a special ride, and DJ Pauly D enjoyed a lap dance from Britney too.

EVERYTHING GOT EMO AND/OR OKAY
+ Hip-hop got introspective: For every swag-brag record there were real-talk, real-problems introspective tracks, like Jay-Z and Kanye West's “Welcome To The Jungle” (and most of Watch The Throne, for that matter), Eminem/ Bad Meets Evil's "Lighters," and Lil Wayne's "How To Love," plus sad songs by Drake (most tracks, but especially "Doing It Wrong"), Kid Cudi's 2 Be Continuum's navel-gazey "No One Believes Me," and Lupe Fiasco's conscious "Words I Never Said."

+ Pop music got introspective: I'm okay, you're okay, we're all okay, okay? was a recurrent theme in pop music, from Lady Gaga's "Born This Way" to Demi Lovato's epic "Skyscraper" to  Pink's "F****** Perfect" reminded us that we all have insecurities, and that we're all perfect the way we are.

Check out more of the biggest pop music trends of 2011 after the jump!

The twitterverse was set ablaze recently with news that Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am and Jennifer Lopez were collaborating. Along with a pic of the two of them chillin' in the studio, will.i.am tweeted, "@JLo it was great working with you today in the studio before our concert in central park." And now, mystery solved, folks! We've finally heard their collabo "Hard," and surprise! -- the song features Mick Jagger, too.

We know what you're thinking: "This is one random-ass collection of pop stars." And we're gonna have to agree with you! But "Hard" is a serious club banger, guys. The song's got a classic will.i.am beat, which serves as the perfect backdrop for his rhymes: "Oh my goodness/This beat is so hard/Imma go hard/Hard to the core.../Harder than worldwide stadium tours." Jen's up next, and while her lyrics are simple and repetitive, we fully support the message: "You can go hard/Or you can go home." In other words, don't call it quits at 11 p.m., wussies! Mick comes in next, and while his verse feels a bit out of place, who cares -- it's Mick EFFING Jagger. In his raspy rocker voice Mick sings, "Baby this is dynamo/Better move back now/It's about to blow!"

We never would have guessed J. Lo and Mick Jagger would appear in the same sentence, let alone the same song. But the combo actually works! Just like how you think French fries and Frosties would never be delicious, but then you experience it and it's your favorite food. Ever. No, seriously. Ever.

We recently told you about the weirdly perfect Tyler, The Creator/Tegan And Sara mashup by The Jane Doze, "Tegan The Creator." But the New York-based remix duo has outdone themselves, like times a bajillion. No seriously, there are like, a bajillion songs in their latest mashup, "Young Hearts Wanna Beat On Their Own." And it's SO PERFECT.

The Jane Doze turned to some of today's biggest pop princesses for their latest remix, and we couldn't have created a better menu. You guys ready for this list?

+ Katy Perry, "Hummingbird Heartbeat"
+ Robyn, "Dancing On My Own"
+ The Naked And Famous, "Young Blood"
+ Whitney Houston, "I Wanna Dance With Somebody"
+ will.i.am featuring Nicki Minaj, "Check It Out"
+ Ke$ha, "Your Love Is My Drug"

The Jane Doze combined ALL OF THESE SONGS to make ONE BIG SONG, and it might be THE BEST SONG EVER!!!! Katy Perry's "Hummingbird Heartbeat" and The Naked And Famous' "Young Blood" own most of the mid-tempo track, as Ke$ha's "Your Love Is My Drug" closes it out. And basically, this is what we want every song ever to sound like. P.S., Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" is THE TRUTH!!!!

The Teen Choice Awards 2011 took place in Los Angeles last night, and a bunch of our favorite teenagers (and some non-teenagers) took home a bunch of surfboards. It's really cool to see young people honoring their favorite celebs and role models, but it's also really cool to see the ridiculous photos from the night.

For example, the hilaious photo of Justin Bieber with Tyra Banks, pictured above. Biebs is kinda like, "OMG my hand is on Tyra Banks' hip, is this okay, what do I do, OMG OMG," and Tyra's all, "SMIZE, TYRA. SMIZE LIKE YOU'VE NEVER SMIZED BEFORE." In other words, this is basically a photo of my soul.

Take a look through some of our other favorite photos from the Teen Choice Awards 2011 below!

What on Earth could will.i.am be so excited to talk to Taylor Swift about? Why does Taylor Swift look so concerned? It's gotta be the national debt crisis, right? Or maybe the fact that they found flowing water on Mars, indicating there could be life outside of our planet? JK, totes has to be Bieber's bow tie.

The look on Fergie's face in this photo is priceless. We're sure Black Eyed Peas' leading lady has been asked to sign some wacky stuff over the years, but a weird, flower printed mini-skateboard might take the cake. You can see it in her eyes: "WTF is this."

And of course, what would a photo wrap-up of the Teen Choice Awards be without a pic of the reigning teen queen and king, Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber? Seated next to each other in the audience, Justin goes in for the kiss and Selena's not quite ready for it. Get a room, guys!

+ Katy Perry made the record books! Since her latest single, "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)," from her album Teenage Dream went to No. 1 on the Billboard charts, Katy is now the second artist in history (behind Michael Jackson!) to have five No. 1 singles off of the same album. Go have yourself a cupcake, girlfriend. (That Grape Juice)

+ Justin Bieber is currently in the studio with Will.i.Am. The two pop stars have been tweeting at each other, making the rest of us super jealous. But what does this mean for the sound of Justin's new record? We need to knooooowww! (Hollywood Life)

+ Lady Gaga talked to MTV News about the photo book she's working on with Terry Richardson, and she calls the shots Terry took of her "completely unfiltered." Ohhhh, good, because the Gaga we've come to know is so... introverted? (MTV News)

+ Even though she's only 18, Miley Cyrus is rolling in the dough (obvs). The singer just bought a $4 million mansion in Studio City, California. Word is Miley didn't go too overboard so she could still have enough money left over for more tattoos. KIDDING. (ONTD)

+ Kelly Clarkson has started a girl group! Starring herself! Kelly and two friends/backup singers Jill Pickering and Kate Rapier started the group Already Famous. We can't wait to hear what this sounds like. (Idolator)

+ As if he had any trouble wooing the ladies, Drake took it up a notch by covering Destiny's Child's "Say My Name" at the OVO Festival in Toronto recently. Umm, swoooooon-tastic. (Rap-Up)

+ Oh noes! Taylor Swift is sick! Due to a bad case of bronchitis, the "Mean" singer was forced to cancel several dates on her summer tour but is set to resume on July 14 in Montreal. Get well, Taylor. (MTV News)

+ Lily Allen reminds us once again that she is in fact a cutie on the cover of August's Elle UK. Inside the issue, Lily opens up about marriage and motherhood. But what about more music, Lily?! (Idolator)

+ Former "American Idol" favorite Pia Toscano has signed a recording contract with Interscope Records, and we can expect a new single from her next week. Stay tuned for "This Time," her first song, out July 12. (Neon Limelight)

+ Sounds like a break is on the horizon for the Black Eyed Peas. Will.i.am tweeted yesterday that the group is planning on taking a respite soon. But keep your (dancin') pants on; they're not gone forever. (SOW)

+ We know she's your queen, Little Monsters, but Lady Gaga did not in fact invent the sax solo. Here's a list of 12 Awesome Sax Solos for you to shake your hair to in slow motion. (ONTD)

+ Is the "Queen Of Pop" debate settled once and for all? Rolling Stone asked readers to vote on who the ultimate pop goddess is, and Madonna grabbed the top spot. Also on the list: Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Katy Perry, Beyoncé and more. Click through to see how they ranked. (Rolling Stone)

+ Oasis brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher were like Lil' Kim and Nicki Minaj of '90s rock -- they basically hated each other. Now Noel is speaking out about the fight that tore Oasis apart once and for all. Spoiler alert: Physical violence was involved. (The Hollywood Reporter)
