about this blog

  1. Obsessively blogging about pop music, pop videos, pop stars, and pop culture from inside the MTV headquarters in Times Square. We also have a slight Jonas Brothers problem. And a little fixation with Tokio Hotel.

Can't find love? Need job advice? Stock tips? Curious about your future? Health concerns plaguing? Wanna know how to break into acting? Where to hide a box of dollars? (Answer: Top of the fridge.) How to build long-lasting BFF relationships?

Forget Oprah. Eff Jim Cramer. That dude's a hack. Your parents? They know NOTHING! Which is why Method Man and Redman are coming to MTV to give you the advice you're probably looking for, even if you didn't know you needed advice.

METHOD MAN AND REDMAN are taking time out from their busy schedule of acting, touring, being in Wu-Tang (no big whoop!), engaging in recreational activities,  pimpin' deodorant, and, most importantly, promoting their "highly" anticipated new album, Blackout 2 -- it's produced by Rockwilder and living legends  Pete Rock and Erick Sermon, and it hits stores May 19 -- and they'll be coming to MTV next week to give you the good word.

So what kind of advice do you need? Wanna know what that clicking sound in your jaw is? Will she say "yes" if you pop the question? Leave your "burning" questions in the comments, and I'll ask Method and Redman when they're here next week.

+ Plus: Watch Method Man and Redman's latest video, "Ayo."

"Ninjasonik is a band, not a rapper," says their MySpace. But maybe that's not even quite right. You know how your mom or little brother or whoever will call you up and just tell you their whole life in detail, whether you're listening or not? All like, "Yeah so, it was so weird, today I ordered egg salad for lunch and they gave me a green salad with actual eggs on it. Like whole ones." And you're just like "... napping cat.."

Well, Ninjasonik's kinda like that -- they just tell you stuff, like "I got a MySpace, I got a Gmail, I got that Facebook but I don't do Friendster" -- only instead of being all "..." you're like "!!!" Know what I mean? It's the same as the scenario above, except that hours later, you find yourself repeating over and over in your head, the phrase "Green salad with actual eggs on it."

Ninjasonik's songs are mostly about wearing tight pants and sound like Humpty Hump and Biz Markie battling ODB at a Rapture band practice. Stupid, huh? Yeah. And awesome. Deeply embedded in the Brooklyn underground, Ninjasonik have been known to deliver said awesomeness illegally from the middle of bridges in the middle of the night, going full-clip until the cops shut them down. Because, as they'll remind you repeatedly in their VERY HIGHLY NSFW rants, they just don't give a f---. They got no morals. Party rock. Listen with caution.

+ Listen to Ninjasonik.

Seth Rogen kept us on our toes yesterday when he was at 1515 for TRL. With the insanity that is Tokio Hotel Fan Week, we weren't sure we were gonna get anywhere near the new king of comedy. But at the last minute, we got the call that Seth had a few minutes to spare. We quickly dropped everything and rushed to the studio, where the laid-back actor cordially answered all the questions we threw at him.

We talked about everything, from his new movie Pineapple Express to his love of '80s pop-rocker Huey Lewis. He even poked fun of the smoky stunt he and James Franco pulled at the 2008 MTV Movie Awards. Here's what he had to say...

Buzzworthy: What did you actually smoke on the set of Pineapple Express?

Seth Rogen: It's called Wizard Smoke. It's, like, a benign plant. It'll probably kill me in several years, but I guess it's just like oregano. Honestly, I don't know what it is. [Laughs.]

BW: What's your all-time favorite stoner flick?

SR: That's a good question. There's been a lot of debate as to what is or is not actually a "stoner flick." Like, is The Big Lebowski a stoner movie or is it just a movie about a guy who smokes weed a lot? Is Dazed and Confused a stoner movie or are there just stoner characters in it? So, I would say The Big Lebowski, if you count that. If not, I would say Friday because that is a pure stoner movie in my mind.

BW: Did you feel pressured to pull off a good stoner flick with Pineapple Express?

SR: Yeah, definitely. I mean, I had to look my own friends in the face again at some point, and it would have been such a humiliating failure if I couldn't write a weed movie. [Laughs.] So, yeah, I felt a lot of pressure, mostly from myself though.

BW: Are you happy with the end result?

SR: I am. I love it. Honestly, I watch it and can't believe they let us make it.

+ Don't believe what that prankster Joel Madden wrote on his Good Charlotte blog -- he and baby mama Nicole Richie are still happily unmarried. Those so-called wedding photos? That was just Joel "monkeying around." (Joel's Good Charlotte blog profile)

+ 50 Cent apologizes for calling Shawty Lo (of D4L) a one-hit wonder. Judging by the success of Lo's new record, "Dey Know," the term "two-hit wonder" is, perhaps, more appropriate. (MTV)

+ Outkast-turned-solo artist Big Boi hypes up his upcoming new album be equating it to...yard work? "Right now, we're just putting the sod in the front of the house. We almost done." Presumably, all that's left is for Big Boi and Raekwon to get rid of all the weed(s). (MTV)

Ever heard the old Beatles song that goes "Oh, I get by with-a-little help from my friends?" Well, apparently so has The Game. In his latest single, "Game's Pain," the rapper (who was born Jayceon Terrell Taylor, but wisely refrained from adopting the already tainted moniker "JTT") shouts out all of his favorite old-school musical influences, including Jay-Z, Wu-Tang Clan, Naughty by Nature and Nas.

Turns out the West Coast rapper is also a longtime Will Smith fan! Because, in his words, "who didn't wanna be the Fresh Prince flat-top, gold chain and some fresh kicks?" (Answer: Nobody.)

And besides revealing that Game has a secret soft-spot for New Edition, this smooth-flowing track shows a gentler, humbler side of the gangsta rapper best known for his do-or-die rivalry with 50 Cent. You'll want to listen up for the killer vocals from Keyshia Cole and keep your eyes peeled for the cameo by Friday star (and former N.W.A. rapper) Ice Cube. That said, be prepared to squint at the excessive use of bling, the gratuitous use of a Louis Vuitton sweatband and the disconcertingly blinding shades of red.

In their seventh tour diary video, the Spill Canvas hits Salt Lake City and puts the voice distorter pedal to the metal for maximum robo talk. Watch the guys take a trip to the car wash, Ace's fast food order, Landon's cooperation versus his non-cooperation, Joe's mathlete showcase and his Ol' Dirty Bastard impression -- strictly unmissable!

This is TSC's final Buzzworthy tour diary video, but before you fling yourself off your bed in major despair, watch the rest right here, and, in remembrance, check out a classic ODB video and footage from Yo! MTV Raps.

In honor of Black History Month, we're honoring one of the foremost leaders and thinkers in Black America today: Dr. Cornel West.

Dr. Cornel West is an Ivy League-educated professor of religion and African-American studies at Princeton University. A renown, controversial philosopher, orator, scholar and activist, Dr. West has written close to 20 profoundly influential books on the topics of race, politics, culture and religion, including the best-selling book, Race Matters.

It's not unusual to see West -- a cancer survivor and the son of a Baptist minister -- keeping company with everyone from students to senators, rabbis to rappers. In fact, West has a hand in making hip-hop music too: aside from his involvement with Russell Simmons's Hip-Hop Summit, West has two albums to his name.

On his first album, Sketches of My Culture, released in 2001, he skillfully set the ramifications of slavery to soulful spoken word grooves. On his latest album, Never Forget: A Journey of Revelations, released in 2007 with the Black Men Who Mean Business, he set his thoughts on being Black in post-9/11 Bush Country to funk, soul and hip-hop rhythms. Joining him: hip-hop and R&B heavy-hitters Prince (one of the first times the artist has ever allowed his work to be sampled), Jill Scott, Talib Kweli, KRS-One, Andre 3000, Killer Mike, The Roots' Black Thought and the late Gerald Levert.

75888813.jpgOh yeah, he's Superbad, which is why Damien declared it "the year of Seth Rogen" on TRL today. (Right up there with the year of the rat -- way to go, Seth!) From the sex-obsessed sidekick in The 40-Year-Old Virgin to unexpected love interest in Knocked Up, Seth is indeed moving on up in the world. But he's not afraid to poke fun at himself. In fact, Superbad is based on Seth's real-life experiences -- or lack thereof -- with high school girls. Apparently, chicks just didn't dig this bespectacled, curly haired guy who wrote screenplays in his spare time. Go figure.

These days, Seth sometimes spends his free time going to concerts. Which is why we present to you …

Seth Rogen's Top Three Concerts of All Time!

1. Wu-Tang Clan at Rock the Bells festival (one of their last performances with ODB)

2. Former Pink Floyd principal Roger Waters on the Dark Side of the Moon tour

3. OutKast
