Azealia Banks gets wild by assaulting riot police and having mouths for eyes in her video for "Yung Rapunxel."

Azealia Banks sparks a fight with riot police her video for "Yung Rapunxel."

What goes on in Azealia Banks' mind is as hard to predict as, well, we guess most people. We're not mediums! But it doesn't exactly take a psychic to intuit that Azealia wants to change the hip-hop game in a big way with her experimental sounds and trippy, surrealist videos. "Yung Rapunxel," from her forthcoming Broke With Expensive Taste, is a prime example of that: a challenging, brash display of aggression and art.

Azealia Banks dropped her new song "Yung Rapunxel."

Azealia Banks is back with her new song "Yung Rapunxel."

Let it never be said that NYC's Azealia Banks lacks fierceness. In fact, all that fierce can get a little frustrating when you've got more feuds than fingers. But Azealia's managed to not to let her fire-starting Twitter beefs and (debatable) homophobic slurs distract from the release of her latest song, "Yung Rapunxel." A bona fide hip-house banger (and the first single off her upcoming debut album, Broke With Expensive Taste), Azealia rhymes slickly (and NSFW-ly) over a busy witch-hop beat. And that's just what we like to hear, girl.

Listen to Azealia Banks' cover of The Strokes' "Barely Legal."

Azealia Banks crosses genre lines with her synthed-out cover of The Strokes' "Barely Legal."

We've been waiting for new music from fire-breathing rapper Azealia Banks for quite some time. We've had Azealia's 1991 EP and 2012's Fantasea mixtape on repeat for ages, BUT lately it feels like despite her talent, she's becoming a liiittle more notorious for starting Twitter rants/beefs/homophobic slurs than for her work in the recording studio. (Not taking sides! Just saying!) To add insult to injury, Azealia has pushed back her highly anticipated new track "Yung Rapunxel" AND debut album, Broke with Expensive Taste, AGAIN. But there is some good news: we forgot for a second that Azealia's got a penchant for doing AWESOME cross-genre covers! Check out this track of her covering The Strokes' "Barely Legal," which ought to hold everyone over till Broke with Expensive Taste surfaces (hopefully) this month.
