Ellie Goulding and Passion Pit will perform at Hangout Music Fest 2013!
There may still be a slight chill in the air (summer, would you just get here already?), but you'd better believe that we're already mapping out our warm-weather music festival plans. That's why we're kicking off this season early at the fourth annual Hangout Music Festival! That's right, my friends: Summer just got here early. Happening over the course of three days (May 17-19), Hangout will host some of our ultra-special favorite bands, including electro-pop songstress Ellie Goulding, indie pop players Passion Pit, everything-core piano-jumpers twenty | one | pilots, and more. AND you'll be able to livestream the entire thing on MTV.com.

Passion Pit throw a creepy forest dance party in their "Cry Like A Ghost" video.
When Passion Pit isn't making collabos with Juicy J (we're STILL not over that), the electro-pop group is busy filming its own heartfelt and unique videos ("Carried Away" and "Constant Conversations" to name a few). Their latest clip for "Cry Like A Ghost" falls into the latter category, featuring a young woman having a one-person dance party in a creepy forest as she thinks about all of her ex-boyfriends (otherwise known as our typical Friday night). It's basically like if Tim Burton decided to curate Ultra Music Festival and schedule it on Halloween.

Passion Pit recruit Juicy J for their "Constant Conversations" remix.
We adore indie pop outfit Passion Pit for several reasons, and they don't all have to do with Sophia Bush. Mostly we love the way they seamlessly meld pop with a number of other genres like electronic music and R&B -- but despite how ahead of the curve we thought they were, NO ONE was expecting the group to ask Three 6 Mafia member and "Bandz A Make Her Dance" rapper Juicy J to hop on the remix bandwagon for Gossamer's "Constant Conversations." And if you DID see that coming... can you help us with a few lotto numbers?

An adorkable couple struggles to save their relationship in Passion Pit's "Carried Away" video.
If we learned anything from movies like "Annie Hall," "Breaking Upwards," and "500 Days Of Summer," it's that romance kind of has a shelf life. Not that we want to come off sounding bitter on Valentine's Day or anything, but we're suddenly not feeling THAT optimistic about TRU LUV anymore after watching Passion Pit's quirky, borderline depressing video for "Carried Away," featuring a very manic pixie-looking Sophia Bush. Also, WHERE'S THE CHOCOLATE?! Feeling a binge coming on.
