Watch Tegan and Sara discuss their music supervisor role on MTV's "Awkward."

Synth-pop players Tegan and Sara are unofficial experts on angst-ridden, #sadz songs (just listen to "Nineteen," "I Was A Fool," and "Walking With A Ghost"). True, their Heartthrob material has taken a cheerier turn since previous albums like So Jealous and The Con, but as they say, the song remains the same -- the poppier the sisters get, the gloomier their lyrics go. So it seems fateful that Tegan and Sara should be picked to guest music supervise an episode of MTV's "Awkward," a show that's about, well, feeling awkward in high school.

Watch Tegan and Sara's "I Was A Fool" lyric video.

Tegan and Sara take us on a melancholy walk around the city in their "I Was A Fool" lyric video.

Question time: Who hasn't aimlessly wandered around a city at night (or driven around a suburb, whatever) in a heartbroken haze? That's the ideal time for sad ex-boyfriend/girlfriend reflection, also known as the "(What Could Have Been) Walk Of Shame." Like many angst-ridden tracks before it ("Back In Your Head," "Walking With A Ghost"), Tegan and Sara's latest single is the lushly brokenhearted (yet perfectly poppy) "I Was A Fool," the latest from Heartthrob, and now a lyric video featuring an #emo girl on a very, very #sad subway ride.

On TV, make sure to tune in to the "NewNowNext Awards 2013" on LOGO TV tonight or stream at NewNowNext beginning at 10 p.m. ET. Ke$ha and Tegan And Sara will be performing. Things are heating up in the singing competition department as well, with "American Idol" presenting their Top 5, and "The Voice" begins its battle rounds where advisers Pharrell Williams, Sheryl Crow, Good Charlotte's Joel Madden, and Hillary Scott join coaches Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira, and Usher.

Fall Out Boy, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Olly Murs, Major Lazer, The Flaming Lips, The Thermals, Ghostface Killah, Kid Cudi, Charli XCX release albums in this edition of The Week In Pop.

NEW ALBUM RELEASES

+ Fall Out BoySave Rock And Roll: By now you've heard FOB's new album (if not, get on it, and check out our track-by-track review!), the first since their hiatus some four years ago. While FOB's album title may imply some bombast, the band's earnest mission to make a record for themselves pays off in ambition. Fall Out Boy are back with a vengeance in the back-to-back fiery anthems "The Phoenix" and "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)" with 2 Chainz. Soulful singer Patrick Stump exudes confidence with his vocal acrobatics on "Where Did The Party Go,"  the falsettos of "Death Valley," and with the rich inflections on "Just One Yesterday" featuring Foxes. Courtney Love ("Rat A Tat"), Big Sean ("The Mighty Fall"), and Elton John ("Save Rock And Roll") also make appearances.

+ Yeah Yeah YeahsMosquito: On their fourth album, Yeah Yeah Yeahs blend disparate music styles. "It's kind of like a Yeah Yeah Yeahs soul record -- our version of one -- but it's also really playful and tongue-in-cheek sometimes. I think it's got something for everyone," Karen O explained in their video premiering Mosquito. Penned in New Orleans, "Sacrilege" features a gospel choir and "Subway" is an ode to New York with looping rhythms courtesy of a rumbling train. They explore roots reggae in "Under The Earth," and the churning, James Murphy-produced "Buried Alive" features Dr. Octagon. They lean romantic as the album closes with "Always" and the atmospheric "Wedding Song."

+ Olly MursRight Place, Right Time: U.K. sensation Olly Murs already has three albums under his belt and he's toured with One Direction, but he hadn't yet released an album Stateside... until now. For the 2009 "X Factor" runner-up's U.S. debut, songs from his No. 1 U.K. album of the same name are packaged with tunes from his sophomore album, In Case You Didn't Know ("Heart Skips A Beat," "Dance With Me Tonight," and "Oh My Goodness"). Watch Olly perform his smash hit "Heart Skips A Beat" (the recorded U.S. version features Chiddy Bang), and watch his video for "Troublemaker" featuring Flo Rida.

Check out more new album releases, upcoming TV appearances, and performances after the jump.

Ke$ha + Tegan And Sara tapped to play Logo's "New Now Next Awards 2013," Kid Cudi leaves Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music + Avril Lavigne unveils "Here's To Never Growing Up" cover in today's Buzz Bites.

Kid Cudi has parted ways with hip-hop label/collective G.O.O.D. Music. But before he told label boss Kanye West, he sought advice from Jay-Z who reassured him. "I never wanted to offend [Kanye], and I didn't know how he would take it, and I was like, 'Man, I do not want to make my brother mad,'" Cudi said. His third studio album, Indicud, drops April 23. (MTV News)

The record streets May 7, just before they depart on "The Package Tour" (tee hee!) with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men on May 28. (Billboard)

+ Watch The-Dream's NSFW video for "Slow It Down," which features Fabolous and is apparently (guessing from the lyrics and bottom shots) an R&B ode to women's behinds. The-Dream's IV Play will be released May 28. Collabos include Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Big Sean. (Pitchfork)

+ Though Nicki Minaj's "High School" video boasts extra steamy scenes with Lil Wayne, she says he behaved like a gentleman. "He refused to touch me, he's so respectful," she said during "MTV First: Nicki Minaj." She also confessed wanting to get back into her "first love": acting. (MTV News)

Watch Tegan and Sara perform "Closer" at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards.

Watch Tegan and Sara perform "Closer" at the 2013 mtvU Woodies Awards!

We spend a lot of time thinking about indie pop twins Tegan and Sara around here. Maybe it's their self-effacing wit, maybe it's their irresistible off-center haircuts, maybe it's the way they rock leather jackets and boots (swoon), but all we know is that we are officially high school crush-obsessed with the girls and their '80s-inspired synth-pop jams. And sure, we already knew we'd get to watch them cohost the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards with MGK (how amazing/unexpected was that, btw??), but we had no idea we'd get to watch them perform during the show itself! That's right, not only did Tegan and Sara host the Woodies this year, but they performed a rendition of "Closer," the lead single off of their seventh studio album, Heartthrob.

Haim want Taylor Swift to forget guys and party with THEM! Because GIRL POWER!

If you read Buzzworthy with any regularity, then you know one of our favorite topics is everything Taylor Swift-related. We dig her music (especially her latest "22" video), we dig her outfits (WANT ALL OF HER DRESSES), we dig her bangs, and we dig her surprised faces. And yes, we'll admit it -- we REALLY dig talking about who she's dating (or not dating, as the case may be). So sue us! We just wanna see Tay Tay happy. We feel like blogger yentes over here -- we're just dying to set her up with Ed Sheeran a nice boy! And because this is obviously a very important and pressing issue, ESPECIALLY in the music community, Buzzworthy's Tamar Anitai got to work asking all of our favorite 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards artists who THEY thought Taylor Swift should date next.

Watch Haim, Tegan and Sara, Icona Pop, Zedd, and more Woodies musicians pick dates for Taylor Swift at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards after the jump!

Tegan and Sara chat with Tamar Anitai at the 2013 Woodie Awards.

2013 mtvU Woodie Awards co-hosts Tegan and Sara talk "Heartthrob" and inspiring the gay community.

It's been a monumental year for indie-pop sisters Tegan and Sara, and it's only March! Though they've been circling the pop music circuit for well over a decade with staple indie-folk albums like The Con and So Jealous, the girls have recently graduated to full-on fame with the release of their seventh studio album, Heartthrob (please immediately add "Closer" and "Drove Me Wild" to your "Crush Nostalgia" playlist, btw). But perhaps the most incredible thing about the sisters (besides their near-perfect, always-changing hair) is how un-pop-star-like they are -- in short, we can't get enough of their adorable self-effacing manor and whip-smart wit (and leather jackets -- please give us your leather jackets). Now Tegan and Sara are taking center stage with MGK as the cohost for this year's 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards (catch it this Sunday night at 8/7c on MTV & mtvU), and recently sat down with Buzzworthy's Tamar Anitai to discuss the making of Hearthrob, inspiring the young gay community, and cohosting the Woodies with MGK.
