Watch Theophilus London get romantic in his "Rio" video.
Theophilus London's a globe-trotting kinda dude, but the musician didn't have to head too far to film his video for "Rio": To conjure the memory of nights on the beach and too many umbrella-topped cocktails, London brings us a romantic, retro performance set in New York. The story begins in black-and-white, with a lone lady in search of a speakeasy. She finds it in an NYC hotel bar that bursts into color and a back room where London and the five-piece Menahan Street Band offer a vivid serenade.

A number of hip-hop heavyweights have been heading down south lately -- from Jay-Z and Beyoncé's Cuban vacation to A$AP Rocky's "Wild For The Night" visit to the Dominican Republic -- but for his trip to "Rio," Theophilus London stayed right in New York City. London's trend-bucking upcoming video finds the musician keeping it local for a Brazilian homage, and he's just released a behind-the-scenes look at the intimate urban effort.

Theophilus London teams up with the Menahan Street Band on his latest track, "Rio."
Theophilus London must be the type of musician who gets easily inspired by his surroundings: When we last heard from him in February, he was rhyming about a "Snow Angel," and now that it's FINALLY starting to warm up, the Brooklyn rapper is daydreaming of beaches and samba on his latest single, "Rio." Inspired by a trip to Brazil in 2010, Theophilus called the track an "introduction to the vibe I’m taking for my next, still-untitled full-length." (And we totally hope it'll feature Kanye West and Drake like he suggested in December.)

Theophilus London teams up with Trouble Andrew on "Snow Angel."
We're 100 hundred percent tired of winter over here (it's just all gray skies and seasonal affective disorder after New Year's Eve!), but genre-bending Brooklynite Theophilus London isn't quite done with the darker months yet. After working with practically every artist in the book (think: TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek, Sara Quin from Tegan and Sara, Glasser, and Solange), the stylish MC has teamed up with Trouble Andrew for a chilling new track, "Snow Angel," which is set to appear on his upcoming album (ironically coming out this summer).

Rihanna's "Jump" gets the remix treatment from alt hip-hop rhymer Theophilus London.
We'll "jump" at the chance to listen to anything Rihanna (it's pun o'clock!), especially when it involves a reheat of Ginuwine's classic "Pony." So when we heard that "Jump," one of our fave tracks from Unapologetic, had been given the grindy, grimey remix treatment by Club Cheval and alt rapper (and PUSH alum) Theophilus London, we TURNT UP. And rest assured, Theophilus doesn't slack off on the already hot track -- in fact, we'd posit that he makes Rihanna's jam even better. We know that's a bold statement, but dude is already an EXPERT in bold statements (fashion or otherwise).
