Zedd performs at the 2013 mtvU Woodies

Zedd shuts down the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards with his stunning, spiritual rendition of 'Clarity' featuring Foxes.

ICYMI, EDM is having a very big moment. A very long moment. And you can blame 2013 MTV Artist to Watch Zedd. And by that I mean you can thank him, because no one's doing dance music better than the cerebral, emotive Russian-German multi-hyphenate wunderkind (classically trained musician, rock drummer, songwriter, DJ, producer, blah blah blah, classic overachiever), who can flip a switch, casually dribble a few bass drops like yoyos, shoot laser beams seemingly out of his wrists Spiderman style, and can turn a crowd of thousands on their heads.

Zedd's 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards performance of "Clarity," the title track of Zedd's debut album, took over the audience with the same seismic energy that caused the song's -- and its creator's -- meteoric rise to fame: No. 1 dance single; 3.9 million YouTube views for the "Clarity" video in under three months; meanwhile Zedd's first single, "Spectrum," became the top dance song in the U.S. While anyone can toy around in Pro Tools, this is a guy who takes Cubase and gives it spirit, soul, and substance.

Haim want Taylor Swift to forget guys and party with THEM! Because GIRL POWER!

If you read Buzzworthy with any regularity, then you know one of our favorite topics is everything Taylor Swift-related. We dig her music (especially her latest "22" video), we dig her outfits (WANT ALL OF HER DRESSES), we dig her bangs, and we dig her surprised faces. And yes, we'll admit it -- we REALLY dig talking about who she's dating (or not dating, as the case may be). So sue us! We just wanna see Tay Tay happy. We feel like blogger yentes over here -- we're just dying to set her up with Ed Sheeran a nice boy! And because this is obviously a very important and pressing issue, ESPECIALLY in the music community, Buzzworthy's Tamar Anitai got to work asking all of our favorite 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards artists who THEY thought Taylor Swift should date next.

Watch Haim, Tegan and Sara, Icona Pop, Zedd, and more Woodies musicians pick dates for Taylor Swift at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards after the jump!

Zedd at the 2013 mtvU Woodies

Zedd is good at EDM, hugs, and being husband material.

You'd think that an artist handpicked by Skrillex to share his EDM throne, the same guy who dropped the beat to Justin Bieber's "Beauty And A Beat," whom Lady Gaga's entrusted with her next album, who's become permanent owner of the dance charts with monster dance tracks like "Clarity" and "Spectrum," the very same MTV Artist to Watch who can shake the foundations of an entire club with brain-melting BPMs, back a rock band on drums, or effortlessly rearrange an EDM track into a melancholic emo torch song buoyed by a string section and grand piano -- which he plays, too, obviously (HOW HAVE YOU NOT WATCHED HIM DO THIS ON LETTERMAN?) -- well, you could be forgiven for thinking that a guy so obviously good at everything most people aren't even a teeny bit good at might be a bit of an aloof jerk with an ego problem (because you might have an ego problem if you were good at basically everything). But you'd be wrong: Zedd is the sweetest, most perfectly lovely guy to come out of any gifted and talented program and become a one-man EDM sovereign nation, and it only makes it more painful that he's extremely easy on the eyes (I'm trying to say that Zedd is empirically attractive -- I MEAN, HELLO, JUST LOOK AT HIM, and like WE GET IT, ZEDD, YOU'RE GOOD AT ALL OF THE TIHNGS), blatantly intelligent, and utterly charming. (It's like he listened to R. Kelly's "I'm A Flirt" and then did absolutely none of those things because he innately knew better.) Like, this is the kind of guy who'd help you with your homework without doing it just to try to get in your pants. But not your math homework. Because it turns out the one thing Zedd's not good at is math. (And I don't even fully believe that.) One thing he is good at? Making monster EDM tracks like "Clarity" and sending brains into sensory overload with his expertly orchestrated, perfectly synchronized, multifacted, multilayered live shows that feel like a free fall into another galaxy's electro bacchanalia. (He also claims that he's not good at cooking, which is fine, because I'll take care of the cooking when we get married.)

+ Watch Zedd discuss writing "Clarity" and "Spectrum" and be generally totally charming at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards after the jump.

Meet MTV Artist To watch: Zedd

Meet MTV's latest Artist To Watch: electro-house pioneer Zedd.

Russian-German EDM prodigy Zedd might be soft-spoken, but his electro-house concoctions are the musical equivalent of an atom bomb (minus the danger). Drawing influence from dubstep, prog-house, and complextro, Zedd's worked behind the scenes with multiple musicians before coming into his own as a solo artist -- and let's just say his résumé's not short. To date, Zedd's remixed The Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber (he co-produced "Beauty And A Beat" with Max Martin), Skrillex, AND Lady Gaga. And speaking of Lady Gaga, Zedd's producing her hotly anticipated ARTPOP album, and the two are so tight that Zedd even planned to do eight dates on her now-canceled Born This Way Ball tour (maybe next time, bbs). All canceled tour dates aside, when Mother Monster name-drops you, you'd better listen up, and fast.

Listen to Zedd featuring Foxes "Clarity (Zedd Union Remix)."

Zedd takes a step away from the club scene on his latest "Clarity" remix.

German EDM magician Zedd's visibility has increased tenfold this year (just ask Lady Gaga, who may or may not include his work on her upcoming ARTPOP album). The MTV Artist To Watch has also captured dance/house obsessives with his own material (see: the booming club banger "Clarity (Featuring Foxes)"). Now, after remixing everyone else (like Black Eyed Peas and Skrillex), it makes perfect sense that Zedd would take on his own track, this time, pushing "Clarity" in a stripped-down (but no less epic) direction.
