Zedd shuts down the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards with his stunning, spiritual rendition of 'Clarity' featuring Foxes.
ICYMI, EDM is having a very big moment. A very long moment. And you can blame 2013 MTV Artist to Watch Zedd. And by that I mean you can thank him, because no one's doing dance music better than the cerebral, emotive Russian-German multi-hyphenate wunderkind (classically trained musician, rock drummer, songwriter, DJ, producer, blah blah blah, classic overachiever), who can flip a switch, casually dribble a few bass drops like yoyos, shoot laser beams seemingly out of his wrists Spiderman style, and can turn a crowd of thousands on their heads.
Zedd's 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards performance of "Clarity," the title track of Zedd's debut album, took over the audience with the same seismic energy that caused the song's -- and its creator's -- meteoric rise to fame: No. 1 dance single; 3.9 million YouTube views for the "Clarity" video in under three months; meanwhile Zedd's first single, "Spectrum," became the top dance song in the U.S. While anyone can toy around in Pro Tools, this is a guy who takes Cubase and gives it spirit, soul, and substance.
